CHAPTER ELEVEN
I honestly have to say, I was weary letting strangers in. Oddly enough, I kept on thinking of Snow White. How the queen disguised herself as a merchant and showed up at the door. And Snow White- being kind hearted to the point of foolishness- let her in. And the result of her foolishness was that she was poisoned and put into a temporary sleep.
As I was thinking this, the man came from the kitchen.
“Thanks,” he said, leaning against the wall casually.
I swallowed. The way he moved so… calculated. So cunning. Something uneasy stirred in the pit of my stomach. I glance at the clock. It was eight o’clock sharp.
Nervously, I toyed with the ribbon that tied my hair back in a loose ponytail. The man only watched me as I do it. I saw glimpse of sadness in his eyes. Or it was just me. Was I just imagining the look of sadness in his green eyes.
“So, you’re Cayne Shelton’s new love,” he said quietly, his voice was so silky and so velvety that not even a king’s fine robes could compare.
I sighed before answering him. “Yes, I guess.”
He pursed his lips, looking pained.
“Hey, are you okay?” I got up slowly walking towards him, weighing my every step I took with caution.
He looked at me, his eyes were holding mine. I could sense the sadness that is written in his eyes, almost like it was my own.
I suddenly came back to my senses when I heard the sound of a car pulling into the driveway that filled my ears and I unconsciously turned away from the man in front of me and looked out the window. I saw Cayne’s father helping his wife getting out of the car and Cayne is standing close by, laughing. They were back an hour earlier that they were supposed to be.
I turned back and suddenly the man so close to me. His eyes was trying mine, holding them in his intense gaze.
“Too much kindness is a bad thing, Ms. Moncada,” he said. I blinked and wondered why he knew my name. But then again I remembered what Nicholas told me at the restaurant. I took a quick step backwards.
Chills we’re all over my body as I look at him with so much horror. Is this the time where I gonna get killed?
He smirked. Like an evil one. I can see in his looks that he is ready to kill the hell out of me. “Don’t worry, I’m still not gonna kill you now, I’m just here to give you a warning. Stay. Away. From. Cayne Shelton, or else you’ll get yourself killed.” I felt like I froze in so much nervousness.
Then I heard the lock clicked and the door opened, he ran quickly and quietly like an assassin. My hair swirled around my face and in horror I realized he took my ribbon.
I hurriedly went out of the kitchen and went to the living room where Cayne and his parents are, unconscious. They all looked at me.
“Raszhiel, are you alright? You look so pale and you’re shaking, aren’t you feeling well?” Cayne murmured, staring at me in worry. He walked towards me and held me. “You’re also cold, what happened to you?”
I saw Cayne’s mother eyes rolled. “She’s just trying to make you worry sick. My God. You’re acting sucks, honey. I can see through your eyes that you’re faking it.”
“Stop in, Monique. Don’t be like that to your daughter in law.” Cayne father hissed that made her looked at me in so much anger.
“Daughter in law my ass. I don’t like her for my son. Anica is way much better than her. This girl has no class and manner. She didn’t even greeted us when she saw as arrived.” She said and left. I just sigh to what she said. She really don’t like me huh.
Cayne father Julio looked at me and said sorry in behalf of her wife. I just smiled at him and said it’s okay.
I told Cayne that I need to talk him. I think it’s about time that I tell him about what Nicholas said. I don’t wanna live my life in fear. And we went to my room. I swallowed and threw him the most sarcastic, bitchy expression I could muster.
“Gee, thanks a bunch.”
He grinned cockily. “I knew you preferred it when I tell you how attractive you are.” He paused and his eyes widened in excitement as a thought occurred to him. “Is that why you brought me to your room? We’re you planning on seducing me? C’mon honey, you know you don’t have to do that. I can give you my body for all you want. After all, it’s all yours.” He grinned. I rolled my eyes at him.
“No. Never. No chill.” His grinned vanished.
I frowned. I hadn’t wanted it to come to this, but Mari was right.
“Cayne, I think Anica is after me.” I said.
He looked at me in so much curiosity.
“What do you mean Anica is after you? You mean she’s stalking you?”
“No, I think she’s trying to kill me.”
Cayne’s expression went from curiosity, to blank, to shocked then to anger in just a matter of seconds.
“She’s what?” He’s fuming mad. I can sense how angry he was. I have never seen him this angry. He was usually so calm and cocky. This side of him is so unnerving.
“At the restaurant we went last time, when you were talking to some of your business matters, Nicholas pulled me outside and told me how Anica was jealous of the time you’ve been spending with me. Nicholas also told her that I’m your wife. He said she was angry and fuming mad when he told her. He also said that she had a history of killing people who she thinks stands between her and what she wants.” I said. He just listens quietly to what I’m saying.
“Then right after you came home earlier, this English guy showed up in front of your house and his car broke down and ask some help. I let him come in because he said that he wants to borrow a phone to call someone. At first I thought it was just nothing. He didn’t do anything but I got his vibe all over me. I think he’s the person who was hired to kill me.”
“Are you sure? Maybe you’re just paranoid or something Raszhiel. Anica won’t do things like that.” He said. Still unable to believe what I’m saying.
“No, I’m sure of it. He even knew my name.”
Cayne voice was strained as he said, “This English man that you were saying, what did he looked like?”
“He had shaggy brown hair and green eyes,” I tired to remember him further. “He had a lighting bolt tattoo on his right hand.”
Cayne’s expression became suddenly unfathomable as he murmured. “I see. Don’t worry. I’ll handle it. Just don’t let it worry you.”
He then turned aways and left. The way his eyes had burned and the quiet anger in his voice sent chills down to my spine. It was so obvious that Cayne Shelton was not an enemy you wanted to have.

3rd Person’s POV
Cayne stepped out of Raszhiel’s room, pissed. His breathing was erratic and his heart was pounding. When Raszhiel brought him to her room he though that; she’s finally gonna let him tap that. And honestly, he had no problem with that. He was more than prepared to give her the kind of sex she’d dream about and crave for the next century. But when she told him about Anica, he doesn’t believe at first, but when he recognized the man that Raszhiel said, he got furious.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
He shook his head and headed into his room. He grabbed his phone. He dialed a number and waited as it rang. It went to a voicemail.
“Hey it’s me Nicholas, I’m not in right now, but you know what to do.” His voice was monotonous.
“Hey dude, fuck you for not telling me. Call me back, we need to talk.” He clench his hand into a fist and said, “Lincoln is back, and he’s after Raszhiel.”

Sneaking from Shelton’s residence was easy. And once he was far enough away, he replied everything.
The way she’d look at him as she opened the door. The way her big browned eyes had look into his. Never before he had felt this way about someone he was assigned to kill.
When she turned her back to look out of the window, he had his dagger ready. He was ready to take her life and finished everything. Yes, he said at first that he just wanted to warn her. But seeing her looking out for someone makes him do the mission. But, for some reason, his hand refused. He couldn’t bring himself to bring his hand down and kill her. It would’ve been easy that time.
He sighed as he walked away. The cool October night air whipping his hair back. He held a single pink ribbon in his hand, clutching it like his life depends on it. She has no idea. Literally no idea how she affects me, how her presence distracts the hell out of me.
