“Hey son, you seem to be in a hurry, are you going somewhere tonight?” Ace’s mum asked as she walked into her son’s room.

Ace was surprised to see his mum, he forgot that he kept the door to his room open while he prepared for the party..

“Hey mum, I’m sorry I didn’t inform you earlier. My friends and I will be going to have some party and celebrate since we just finished our exams.,” Ace said, with a smile on his face.

“Okay, that’s good son, just make sure that you stay safe and do not drink too much,” Ace’s mum replied with a smile on her face..

“Thanks mum,” replied , turning around to continue dressing up.

Ace’s mum was about to leave the room when she suddenly turned back remembering something very important.

“Ace, I have something to tell you,” she said sharply with a cute smile on her face.

“What’s that mum?” Ave asked, looking surprised.

“You see son, your dad and I would want you to meet Serena soon, since you have finished your university education and gradually turning into a full grown man, so it would best if you both meet soonest, she’s a very pretty lady and I’m sure you would like her,” Ace’s mum said still smiling.

Ace was confused, he had heard that name “Serena” several times from his mum and dad, he had often seen and heard them fantasizing about how he would end up with her and to carry the family business relationship forward. At those times he wasn’t really bothered to find out or know More about what they meant, he was even enthusiastic to meet Serena, but right now, he wants to know what exactly his mom meant.

“Who’s Serena , mum?” Ace asked.

Ace’s mum turned to go to the mini bar in Ace’s room and poured herself a glass of red wine, sipping from it quietly, she looked at her son consciously.

“Oh well, Serena is the lady your dad and I want you to get married to, her dad and our family have been best of friends and business associates, so we would want to still maintain that relationship, we concluded that you and Serena will get married,” she says with a smile on her lips.

Ace’s mum seemed so excited about the whole arrangements, the look on Ace’s face wasn’t a pleasant one, he looked confused, not knowing what to say or do, if it were to be a few years back, he wouldn’t mind the decisions his parents takes in his behalf, but right now, it is totally different as he is now a full grown man who has his own feelings and choices. If it were to be the old Ace he wouldn’t mind getting married to Serena, he would let his mum’s choices, but right now everything is different, he has an eye for Cassie, he is in love with Cassie even though it’s a bet.

“Well mum, I have heard you and that’s okay,” Ace replied.

Ace’s mum left the room with a smile on her face, Ace knows he can’t say no to his mum’s request. Ace’s mind was totally away from the nightclub he had wanted to attend.

Ace heard a very loud noise from the sitting room, he rushed out to see what was happening.

One of the twins, Bella, has fallen from the stairs and broke her leg.

“Get the car quickly, let’s take her to the hospital,” Ace’s mum screamed at the top of her voice. Ace went outside to get ready and came back almost immediately to lift Bella to his arm and take her to the hospital.

“Hey doctor, please do something to save my daughter,” Ace’s mum said with tears gushing down her cheek. The doctors quickly went into action to save Bella, an emergency surgery was carried out on her leg.

“Hello ma’am, I’m glad that you brought her here on time,” the doctor said.

“Doctor, I hope that she’s doing fine,” Ace’s mum said.

“Yes, you don’t have to worry. The surgery was very successful , she’s going to need maximum rest and she would be needing someone to help take care of her, a nanny or a caregiver,” the doctor concluded and Ace’s mum thanked him.

Bella was resting on the hospital bed. She has been sleeping since after the surgery. Her mum was so happy that the surgery was successful and that they would go home sooner than she thought. Even though she’s going to be staying in a wheelchair for some time, and will be needing someone to help take care of her, the only person that she could think of to help take care of Bella was Cassie. Mrs Sophia brought out her phone from her hand bag to dial Cassie’s number.

Karen and I had dressed up for the party, Ace promised to come pick us up but we he waited for a long time for him and when he there wasn’t any sign that he would be coming to pick us, Karen then suggested we go the party by ourselves, I was really pissed because I felt he might have gone to pick some other girls. When we got to the party, I was surprised that Ace and his friends weren’t at the party. I kept on looking around to see if I could see him but my efforts proved abortive, the worst was when I saw his friends dancing happily without Ace in sight. The party couldn’t make much sense to me since Ace wasn’t there. I reluctantly joined in the dancing, and a few minutes later I told Karen we should go home.

“Hey girl, why did you have to drag me out to go home, the party isn’t over yet? Tell me, wasn’t it because your prince charming wasn’t there to dance with you?” Karen teased me. I could feel the mockery in her voice.

“Hey, you better watch it….” I couldn’t finish my sentence when my phone beeped, and I checked to see who was calling. It was Mrs Sophia, I wasn’t expecting her call, but I still picked it up.

“Good evening ma’am,” I said into the phone.

“Hey Cassie, I need a favor from you,” Mrs Sophia’s voice was shaky, it wasn’t audible because of the king hour she had been crying.

“What is the problem ma’am,” I became so confused, as she couldn’t hold her tears anymore.

Ever since I started working for her, she has never been this broken and down. She kept on sobbing from the other end of the phone. I tried to calm her down and nshe her to stop crying so that I could ask her what she would say to me. From the way she was crying, I knew that whatever made her call me must have been something really important and I couldn’t help but feel very bad for her.

“Cassie,. Bella fell down from the stairs and she just concluded her surgery, but the thing is, the doctor insisted that Bella needs intense help to take care of her in the house. I know that you have done so much for us already and you have finished with your exams, but I want to ask you to come help us take care of Bella, I will pay you double for the services,” Ace’s mum said amidst tears.

I couldn’t say “no” to her, she has been of tremendous help to me, I couldn’t say no to her request. I explained everything to Karen, but she told me not to go to the mansion. Karen advised that I go seek a decent job out there, but I told her not to worry about me. I wouldn’t mind working for them for the second time, I have been taking care of Bella, so it wasn’t a big deal for me to want to work with them again. Moreover, Ace’s mum already promised to pay me handsomely. I instructed the driver to drop me off at the mansion, after dropping Karen at the apartment.

I sat in the taxi, thinking about Ace and his family. I wouldn’t only be working with them again, but I would also get the opportunity to be with Ace, my charming prince.
