Phoenix slowly opened her eyes and they beamed on seeing a familiar figure backing her.

It was none other than her love and sweetheart, Axion.

” Axion ” She muttered in happiness.

Axion was glaring at Cruella, his angry purple eyes boring into hers while using only one hand to make the spikes freeze in the air. Cruella could see the thick veins running through his body and that made her tremble in scare.

” A… xion… what… are… you… doing here? ” Her lips stuttered.

” You took my mate. Don’t you think it’s normal for me to feel and sense when she’s in danger? ” Axion smirked dangerously and Phoenix’s pupil dilated in dismay.

Wait! Did Axion just call her his mate or were her ears deluding her? Does that mean he finally accepted her?

A happy scoff left her lips while Cruella gulped down in fear.

” How… were you… able to find her? ” A snort left Axion’s lips.

” You seem to have forgotten that I am a Dark Genie. Oh, wait… actually, the next King of all Dark Genie. So here is my territory… my zone ” He laughed hoarsely and Gianna was trying hard not to slump to the floor due to fright. She is really terrified of the man before her because it is obvious that he can wipe her out of existence with just a cinch of his finger.

” You tried harming my Phoenix. Didn’t you speculate the consequences? ” Axion sneered.

” Axion… I’m… I’m sorry. I didn’t intend to harm her… I… I… just wanted to render her weak. Please don’t kill me ” Cruella started pleading immediately, her head stooped and tears flooding her eyes.

” I don’t forgive. You know that ” Axion fumed and she instantly snap her head up, her pupils dilating in great horror. Axion sounded exactly like her Master right now and the last time her Master said that he didn’t hesitate to end Melinoe.

” Axion… I’m…” She wasn’t through yet with her words when Axion sent the hanging spikes back to her. The spikes thrust into her body at full speed and pinned her roughly to the tree behind her.

She let out a loud cry at the intense pain that seethed her whole body. Some of the spikes jabbed straight into her forehead. Some in her chest while some, in her legs. Phoenix was shocked at what Axion did.

The evil and angry smirk on Axion’s lips grew broader as he walked up to Cruella who was still crying in anguish.

” No… one messes with my Phoenix. I’d brutally murder whosoever it is and you’re one of them… Gianna ” Axion breathed angrily and shock ran down Cruella.

How did he figure out it was her?

She was still contemplating that when her eyes went down at Axion’s fingers growing into sharp claws and they widened. Phoenix too saw his claws.

” Axion… no ” She tried stopping him but she was too weak to move.

” Axion… please…” Axion didn’t let Cruella even start as he gnawed his claws into her neck, twisting her bones. Cruella wailed out in anguish as dark blood rolled down, uncontrollably.

Phoenix closed her eyes, her heart aching for Cruella. Yes, she hated her but never wished for her death. Axion’s stab paralyzed Cruella and she passed out.

” Axion… please… stop it! ” Phoenix managed to yell and hearing her voice, Axion stopped abruptly. He dug his claws out, his hand covered in blood as he turned. Seeing the tears in his Phoenix eyes, he grew soft and the thick veins withered.

” Phoenix ” He called out softly and a faint smile crept up Phoenix’s lips. Axion’s eyes spotted the blood-stained in her cloth and they twitched in anger.

” Axion ” Phoenix only took a hard step forward when her body failed her and she collapsed. Axion rushed up and caught her just on time before her body met with the ground, gently carrying her in his arms.

Phoenix was now laying on the bed, unconscious, with Glinda beside her, treating her wound. Axion was standing by the bed, looking at Phoenix with sadness and pain written all over his face. After cleaning the wound and applying some medicine to it, Glinda stood up.

” Will she be alright? ” Was the first question Axion threw at her.

” She’s perfectly fine, Axion. The wound is a really deep one and has rendered her weak so she’d be needing your help to do certain things. Aside from that, she’s fine, don’t worry ” Glinda assured and Axion nodded, walking up to the bed. He sat down and took Phoenix’s hand, massaging it with his thumb.

” I’ll get going now, Axion. Make sure to dress and apply the medicine on her wound constantly ” Glinda instructed and Axion only hummed, not sparing her a glance.

She need not be told, he was still angry with her so she sighed sadly and headed to the door. She was about to leave when,

” Thank you, aunt ” Axion said and she swiftly turned as a wave of happiness went down her. Even though Axion refused to look at her, a broad smile couldn’t help forming on her lips.

” You’re welcomed ” She replied and left.

Staring at Phoenix, guilt struck Axion’s heart and he swallowed the lump in his throat. He was angry and disappointed in himself for neglecting her. And was also angry with Phoenix for going after Gianna.

Why didn’t he believe her when she warned her about who Gianna truly was?

” Why can’t you just think straight? Why do you become so dumb whenever it comes to saving me? What were you thinking about going after her? What if something worse happened to you, huh? ” He mumbled, rubbing her cheek.

” I’m sorry ”

Just then Phoenix’s body stiffened and her face folded up in a deep scowl. She began grunting lowly indicating she was having another bad dream. Axion tugged closer and placed a deep kiss on her forehead.

” Axion ” Phoenix called, her eyes still closed.

” Shuush… I’m right here, Phoenix. I’m here ” Axion whispered.

” Axion! ” She snapped her eyes open immediately, gasping heavily. Seeing Axion, she jerked up and hugged him.

Due to the sprint at which she jerked up, her wound opened and started bleeding again.

” Arghhh… Axion ” She whined as she felt an intense pain in her stomach. Axion’s eyes widened seeing the wound bleeding and he pulled out of the hug.

” Axion… it hurts! ” Phoenix cried not being able to endure the pain she was feeling. A sharp pain pierced into Axion’s chest and it felt as though his heart was been stabbed repeatedly.

Shit! Why does it hurt hearing her cry?

He cupped her cheeks immediately.

” Suush…. stop crying, Phoenix. Let me clean the wound. You’d be fine, ok? ” He shushed.

” But it hurts ”

” I know and I’m sorry ” He mumbled. Using his powers, he made the first aid box and medicine come to him on their own.

” It hurts, Axion. I can’t do this ” Phoenix couldn’t stop crying as Axion took out the cotton and doused it in the spirit.

” I’m sorry. Please stop crying ” He gently placed her hands on his shoulders and raised her top. He started cleaning it and Phoenix gripped his shoulder tightly, her tears rolling down as she whimpered in pain. It was just so unbearable for her. Axion’s heart pang badly listening to her cry.

” I’m sorry ” He mumbled. When he was done cleaning, he applied the medicine to the wound and wrapped a bandage around her stomach. With that been done, he looked up at Phoenix who was sulking in tears and his eyes thawed. He held her cheek, caressing it.

” I’m sorry ” He pulled her into a gentle hug. Phoenix circled her hands around him without hesitation. He stroked her back, placing a tender kiss on her neck. Axion let out a heave as she fell asleep.

” For how long will you keep enduring pain because of me? ” He murmured sadly. He gently laid her back on the bed, stroking her hair so she won’t wake up. Making sure she was deep asleep, he covered her with the duvet, placing a kiss on her forehead.

Phoenix was finally awake and it was time for her to bathe. She blushed in embarrassment when Axion told her he will bathe her. But does she have a choice?

Axion carried her off the bed and headed to the bathroom. He placed her down under the shower and Phoenix held his waist for support as he started undressing her carefully. He cast a shield that protected her wound from getting wet.

Soon she was now staked naked before him and her cheeks heated up as Axion gazed at her body, his eyes filled with lust and passion.

Damnit! He was getting hard. He quickly looked away, so he won’t end up doing anything stupid. He turned on the shower and Phoenix closed her eyes as the hot water landed and soothed her body.
