Chapter 71
Chapter 71
She clenched her fists, her nails digging into the flesh of her palms, and she used the pain to remind herself to remain clear-headed at all times. It would not do for her to lose her composure.
“I have always had a clear conscience in anything that I do,” she said. “I’m sorry; I am working now. If there’s nothing else, please leave.”
The long-haired editor was about to say something when Larissa shut the door.
After her shift was over at night, the girls excitedly came over to her to ask for details when she passed by the reception. “Ms. Seymour, why were the TV people looking for you? Did they ask you to go on a show?”
“Yeah, but I rejected it,” Larissa replied with a faint smile.
“Why?” The girls were so disappointed. “You’re so beautiful, Ms. Seymour. Who knows, you might go viral overnight! By then we’d be able to go out and say
that we know a famous star!”
Larissa could not help but laugh. “When there’s another chance, I’ll make sure to go for it, alright?”
After that time, Larissa received several more calls from the editors of “The Mediators Room”. All of them were trying to convince her to come to the show,
but she rejected them all.
Soon, she could not bear the constant disturbing and finally dropped a harsh response. “If your people keep calling me and harassing me at work, I will call the police!”
Only then did they stop calling her.
On a Saturday morning, Larissa was woken up by her phone’s incessant vibrating.
She blearily felt for her phone and looked at the screen, which was filled with several unread WhatsApp notifications, and even then, there were more
incoming messages every second.
Opening WhatsApp, the notifications all came from her department’s group chat. There were at least ten messages that tagged her.
Her first reaction to this was that something big had happened to the hotel. That thought woke her up at once and she went to the beginning of the new
messages. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
It seemed that one of the janitors started everything.
“Have any of you watched last night’s episode of “The Mediators Room”?”
Soon, a few other janitors said, “I did!”
“Me too!”
Larissa frowned. She created this group chat for the sake of texting
announcements. Sometimes, people would chat here, but they were usually work-related. It was the first time that discussions about a TV show had ever
occurred.
Larissa was not a strict leader, so she was not against this sort of thing. But…
She honestly was not fond of “The Mediators Room”.
If it were not for the fact that she was tagged, she probably would have muted the group’s notifications and closed the app.
Larissa tried to be patient as she scrolled down.
“Don’t you think that the old woman’s daughter-in-law resembles our
manager? @Larissa”
“Yeah! Totally! I think she does! Besides, that daughter-in-law works in a hotel
too, and the uniform is exactly the same as Mr. Seymour’s!”
“I thought it was just me! My husband even said that I was thinking too much!”
“@Larissa Ms. Seymour! Hurry up and check if that person’s you!”
