Chapter 1063 The Embroidery Competition
Bailey was on a video call with Artemis inside the study.
She told him everything about the mess Sylvester had made without leaving out a single detail.
After listening to her words, Artemis reassured her, “I'll deal with him when I return. That j*rk should
consider himself lucky that I married a smart wife. Otherwise, there would be no future between him
and Rainie.”
Bailey couldn't help but roll her eyes.
Who praises their wife like that?
“Do you also trust my judgment? Do you believe that Rainie was set up by someone?” she asked.
After some thought, Artemis calmly replied, “No one knows the truth. I'm just grateful you've given them
a chance to reconcile. And they do need such an opportunity. Now that you've provided it, that's
enough. As for the outcome, let's leave it to fate. We just need to do our best.”
Bailey smiled lightly and said, “You know me best. You're right. Let's just do our best. One is practically
your brother, while the other is my friend. As the people closest to their situation, we ought to do
something to live up to their trust.”
“There you go, don't overthink it. Let things take their natural course. You've done your best. Don't
overwork yourself. Take good care of yourself.”
“Yeah, I got it. What's the situation on your end? Have you sorted things out yet?”
Artemis fell into silence, seemingly weighing his words carefully.
A full two to three minutes passed before he finally spoke. “Faceless is indeed collaborating with Black
Puma, providing them numerous favors. Interpol just can't seem to track them down.”
He continued, “As for Maerlus' son, I'm not sure where he is right now, but he has definitely been
kidnapped. Faceless is an expert in disguise, so I daren't act rashly in this matter.”
Bailey mulled over his words and suggested, “Then don't make any moves. Wait until I figure out what
happened to the Hollett family a month ago. After resolving Rainie's situation, we can head to Zaewora.
I must settle this score with Faceless myself. You can't help much, and I don't want you to suffer any
unexpected setbacks.”
“All right. I'll start the investigation discreetly. Once you arrive, you can wrap things up. Don't rush to
deal with your current affairs. There's no hurry on my end,” replied Artemis.
Instinctively, Bailey placed a hand on her lower abdomen. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Artemis was still unaware of her pregnancy. He'll be overjoyed if I tell him about it, won't he?
Still, if she were to tell him about this, knowing his temperament, he would probably rush back
immediately on a private jet.
If he did so, then all the investigative work of the past two days would be in vain.
All she wanted was to quickly resolve everything so she could peacefully plan her wedding at home.
“Artemis, if I ever hide something from you, it would only be a well-intentioned concealment. You
wouldn't blame me, would you?” she asked.
Artemis narrowed his gaze at her for a moment, then chuckled lightly. “How can I keep track of
everything you've kept from me? And when have I ever held it against you? As long as it doesn't harm
your life, I won't blame you. But if you're gambling with your life, I won't forgive you.”
“Hehe, don't worry. I won't do that. You need to take care of yourself over there, and you're not allowed
to interact with any women, especially that Rebecca from Interpol.”
Artemis wanted to say something else, but his phone rang, interrupting his speech.
He stood up and walked to the balcony to answer the call. When he returned, he said to Bailey, “I've
found out where Maerlus' son is. I'm going to check on that lead. I'm hanging up on the video call now.
I'll call you back later.”
“All right, be careful. Don't act recklessly, and don't fall into their trap.”
“Hmm.” Artemis was about to close his laptop when a thought struck him, causing him to freeze
abruptly.
He added, “I have sent for the inheritors of the Yrinasion embroidery technique. They should have
already arrived in Hallsbay. When the time comes, see whether you prefer the Strassonian embroidery
technique or the Yrinasion embroidery technique. Regardless of which one you choose, I will support
you.”
Bailey wanted to reveal her plans of sewing her own wedding dress, but seeing as he was worrying
about their wedding from the other side of the globe, she couldn't bear to trample over his good
intentions.
“All right. Let's hold an embroidery competition then. Whoever wins will assist me in sewing my
wedding dress and your suit.”
Perhaps Artemis was in such a hurry to leave that he didn't notice she had said “assist.”
As the word implied, they would only play a supporting role. She was determined to sew the wedding
dress herself.
Just as the video was cut off, the housekeeper's voice rang out outside the study.
“Ms. Bailey, Mrs. Shurmer requests your presence downstairs. She wishes to discuss something with
you.”
Bailey mumbled her acknowledgment and put away the computer. She stood up and left the study.
Waverly sat in the main seat in the living room on the first floor.
Across her sat two middle-aged women dressed in gowns.
“This is a good thing; I'm all for it. However, whether we proceed as you suggest ultimately depends on
my daughter.”
“Absolutely, we must have Ms. Bailey's consent. As soon as she gives the word, we'll immediately start
preparing for the competition.”
Bailey faintly caught the word “competition” as she headed downstairs, and she couldn't help but feel
puzzled.
It's the first half of the year now, but competitions are mostly held in the second half of the year. What
competition are you talking about?
“Mother, why are you looking for me?”
Waverly was originally chatting with the two middle-aged women when she suddenly heard the word
“mother.” She froze instantly, her eyes welling up with tears.
Did Bay call me just now? No, I must be hallucinating. She hasn't gotten over her reservations around
me. How could she possibly call me “mother”?
Bailey strolled over to the sofa and asked with a smile, “Mother, who are these two?”
Waverly no longer doubted herself; her daughter really did call out to her.
If it weren't for the presence of guests, she would have definitely rushed over to embrace Bailey.
After taking several deep breaths to suppress the excitement in her heart, she explained gently, “They
are the leaders of the Bureau of Intangible Cultural Heritage. They came to see you.”
Bailey was an astute woman. Just by hearing the words “intangible cultural heritage” and associating
them with the competition she heard earlier, she was able to guess the motive of their visit.
“Are you here about my wedding dress?”
Seeing how smart her daughter was, Waverly's smile became even more radiant.
This intelligent girl is my own daughter. Just thinking about it filled her with pride.
Admiration also bloomed on the faces of the two middle-aged women.
One of them chuckled and said, “Ms. Bailey is truly wise. You've guessed our intentions without us
even saying a word. I heard that the Shurmer family spent a fortune to invite Strassonian and Yrinasion
embroiderers to tailor your wedding dress. We wanted to use this opportunity to organize a competition
to raise awareness about the art of embroidery.”
With a playful raise of her eyebrows, Bailey said half-jokingly, “So, you want to use my wedding as a
platform to promote your so-called embroidery craftsmanship. That's certainly a grand plan, but what
exactly do you take the marriage between the Luther and Shurmer families for?”
Upon sighting her anger, the middle-aged woman quickly stood up, pleading urgently, “Ms. Bailey,
you've misunderstood. We merely wish to share in the joy and promote the art of embroidery because
we know your wedding is bound to make waves around the world, and your wedding dress will
inevitably become a trend-setting style.”
