Spoiled by the Silver Fox

Chapter 528

Martin flashed a slight smile, saying, "Minister, no need to ask questions... All you need to know is that as long as she's in finance department and there aren't any major issues on the horizon, your position as the manager will be solid as a rock." The Minister was taken aback, not daring to ask anything further. It dawned on him that Marilyn was no ordinary person. If Martin said so, he couldn't possibly be pulling his leg!

Marilyn, sitting in her spacious deputy manager's office, couldn't help but laugh. She'd just started working and had already received a promotion. She was so thrilled that she wanted to share the news with someone, and the first person that came to mind was Stephanie. Stephanie answered her mother's call with a hint of trepidation: "Mom, I know what I did last night was out of line; I realize my mistake and I'm reflecting on it. Don't scold me, OK?"

Marilyn sighed. "Who's scolding you? Seb's not mad; why should I be? I'm just worried that with Seb treating you so well, you're causing trouble for others and disappointing him. That's why I'm being hard on you!"

"As long as you're not mad at me, I know I screwed up, and I won't do it again."

"Steph, I got a promotion!"Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

"What? You got promoted! That was quick! Surely Silver Fox had a hand in this!"

"Seb has been incredibly good to us. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I'd become the deputy finance manager of such a huge company."

"Wow! You actually made deputy finance manager."

"You're amazing!"

"It's not me; it's all Seb. I wouldn't dream of being a deputy manager if it wasn't for him."

"But mom, won't being a deputy manager mean a lot of work? Can you handle it?"

"No... Other deputy managers might have a lot on their plates, but I'll delegate most of the financial department's work to my subordinates. Don't worry, I just need to check for issues; it's a breeze."

Most likely, Seb had this in mind when he naturally appointed her to this position. He's such a dutiful son.

Upon hearing this, Stephanie heaved a sigh of relief, genuinely happy for her mom. "That's great! You seem really happy... How about I come see you tomorrow at noon to celebrate your promotion?"

"Of course... But don't you have classes tomorrow?"

"After my two morning classes, I'll bring Emily to your office to check out whe a deputy manager's office looks like... Then we can have lunch together to celebrate!"

"Sounds like a plan; we should invite Seb too; I really need to thank him!"

"Uh, mom, can we not invite Silver Fox?"

"Why not? You're coming; aren't you going to see Seb?"

"Mom... Do you know what I did yesterday? I'm kind of scared to face Silver Fox right now; let's wait a bit."

"You're coming home this weekend, right?"

"Yeah... Alright, let's just go with the flow. I can handle the awkwardness."

"Steph, I think Seb's really not bothered by what happened."

"But I feel guilty..."

"I know you do, sweetie, just take it easy. What's done is done; all we can do now is accept it. You have start correcting your mistakes slowly. You're a lot younger than Seb, he won't blame you, but you can't keep this up, got it?"

"I got it, mom."
