Phoenix’s icy gaze settled on the body of the small girl. At first glance, anyone would assume Ash Moon was a saint, a naive girl with a pure heart. Little did they know that her heart was as black as charred wood, consumed by darkness that had burned for years without respite.
Ash stood frozen in place, her eyes locked with Phoenix’s. They had never been close, never exchanged more than a few words. The mere sight of him inside her house sent a shiver of fear coursing through her veins. She couldn’t help but wonder if Alexander had sent him, a predator unleashed to hunt her down for what she had done to Amelia.
A cold sweat formed in her palms as she attempted to steady herself, to dispel the nervousness that threatened to engulf her. But Phoenix’s voice, devoid of emotion, pierced through the silence of the room, sending another wave of shivers down Ash’s spine.
“Your sitting room is not that bad,” he uttered calmly, his legs crossed in a casual manner. It was a simple remark, an observation about her surroundings. Yet, for inexplicable reasons, Ash felt as if she were being stripped naked, her vulnerabilities exposed to this intruder.
Fear tightened its grip on her, constricting her every breath. She found herself unable to form a coherent response, her voice trapped in her throat. Her mind raced, desperately searching for a way out, for an escape from this grim reality that threatened to consume her.
Phoenix’s presence alone was suffocating, his calm demeanor a stark contrast to the chaos that ravaged Ash’s thoughts. She could sense the danger emanating from him, a palpable aura that warned her of the malevolence lurking beneath his composed facade.
Every fiber of her being screamed at her to run, to flee from this menacing figure who had invaded her sanctuary. But her limbs refused to obey, betraying her in this moment of dire need. She stood there, paralyzed by fear, her wide eyes locked with his piercing gaze.
The silence stretched on, the weight of the unspoken words hanging heavily in the air. Ash’s mind raced, trying to piece together the puzzle of Phoenix’s presence in her home. What did he want from her? Was he here to exact vengeance for her actions? Or did he have another sinister motive?
As she stood frozen, the room seemed to close in around her, the walls closing in like a vise. Every creak of the floorboards, every gust of wind outside, seemed her death was already reckoning to her.
Phoenix’s calm chuckle filled the room, sending an unsettling shiver down Ash’s spine. She cleared her throat, attempting to steady her voice, and nervously asked, “What… What do you want?” Fear laced her words, making it difficult for her to even take a single step forward. It felt as though she were trying to move an insurmountable mountain.
In response to her question, Phoenix slowly uncrossed his legs, his movements deliberate and measured. Time seemed to slow down as his black leather shoe made contact with the floor, each instance elongated in Ash’s perception. His hands disappeared into his pockets, causing his coat to lift slightly, revealing a glimpse of his white sleeves.
Nervousness constricted Ash’s throat, and she swallowed hard, her anxiety palpable. Every step that Phoenix took toward her felt like a tightening chain around her neck, suffocating her. Instinctively, she took a subconscious step backward, trying to create distance as Phoenix continued to advance.
Phoenix’s eyes remained calm and serene, yet they held an underlying icy coldness that filled Ash with a sense of reproach. A small smirk danced on his lips as he spoke in a calm tone, his words causing Ash to feel as though she wanted to melt into the wall behind her.
“What do I want? I think you’re mistaken here,” Phoenix’s voice rang out in the room, a mixture of amusement and menace. The weight of his presence was suffocating, and Ash found it increasingly difficult to maintain eye contact with him. Her gaze drifted downward, unable to meet the intensity of his stare. The back of her shirt clung to her body, drenched in sweat born out of fear.
Suddenly, Phoenix took a step back from her, creating a physical distance between them. He continued speaking, his words sending a shockwave through Ash’s senses. “You should ask… What do they want?!”
Ash’s head snapped up, her wide eyes filled with a mixture of shock and fear. The question hung in the air, unanswered yet resonating deep within her. She struggled to comprehend the meaning behind Phoenix’s words. Who were “they”? What did they want from her? The floodgates of panic opened within her, and her mind raced to make sense of the impending danger that seemed to encircle her.
Her voice trembled as she managed to find some semblance of composure. “Who… Who are ‘they’? What do they want?” Her words faltered, as she made a tight fist.
Constantly swearing at Knight who had put her into this mess.
“Don’t know….. ask them yourself!”Phoenix said as he turn his back on her.
His last sentence resonated in her head as she looked up.
Ask them yourself !
Ask them yourself!!
Ask them yourself!!!!!!!
Ash’s eyes slowly looked past The silhouette of Phoenix and her eyes constricted as she looked at the men stationed close to her window outside and the other men who was standing close to her dining room.
She hadn’t noticed them until now.
They were in all black. Like the Grim reapers she had heard of in fairytales.
They looked scary with black masks on.From NôvelDrama.Org.
This was the first time seeing them.
The mask was covering their head and faces, And a big A was imprinted in the masks.
Ash could already tell that they were all Alphas!
They were all here to get her!
But what made her more scared as if her ghost had run out of her was when she saw the few men beside the alphas.
They were dressing in a particular way.
Silver clothed men and Red clothed men, there was bands on their sleeves and a symbol was there too.
They were also wearing masks.
Ash wasn’t a novice to this particular uniform.
She thought she might be hallucinating because of the fright from Phoenix so she closed and opened her eyes again but those words imprinted on their bands was still there.
