Joanna looked in the same direction as Winston, but Millie was out of her sight by now. All she could see was a group of people walking away. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Eli broke out in a cold sweat on Winston’s behalf. Joanna had no idea that Winston had run into Millie in Musbane. Otherwise, she’d make a scene again!

“We’ve been separated for a while. Let’s have dinner together.” Joanna took Winston’s arm and purred, “I crave for the steak at Siren Club. I want to have dinner there with you.‘

Winston nodded, as he also needed to have a talk with Joanna.

Suddenly, he asked about Harriet, “Joanna, how’s your mom doing?”

Joanna grew furious upon hearing the question. “Win, did you know Millie abducted my mom? Mom was hanging by a rope on a tall building for a night! How could she do that to my mom?”

Winston replied, “But your mom did the same to Millie.

“I’ll admit that my mom is in the wrong, but… but Millie can’t do this to my mom!” Joanna looked angry when the topic was raised. She vowed to avenge Harriet one day.

Harriet was the wife of a man who hailed from one of the Four Great Families. She would never allow her

mom to be humiliated in such a manner.

Frowning, Winston came to a halt. Joanna looked at him: He suddenly asked, “Joanna, do you want to marry me?”

“Of course.” She pouted. She wanted to marry Winston more than anyone else, to the point she was almost driven crazy.

His frown deepened. He stared at his feet pensively and recounted his moments with Millie for the last few days.

Knowing that he stood no chance with Millie, he realized it was time to keep his promise and divorce Millie so that he could marry Joanna.

Holding Joanna’s hand, he patiently asked, “Could you please behave? Let’s slowly build our relationship. How does that sound?”

This was Joanna’s first time being asked about her future with Winston in such a serious manner. She nodded agitatedly, “Win, I’ll listen to whatever you say.”

“I’ll try my best to make my family accept you. And I will surely marry you,” he promised in a deep voice.

She agreed.

Eli quietly watched the couple. As a bystander, he could clearly sense the absence of affection in Winston’s eyes. Winston was brushing Joanna off. He appeared helpless and forced.

Just now, Eli accidentally spotted the way Winston looked at Millie. Winston’s eyes certainly betrayed his emotions.

Eli frowned, thinking, “Maybe he has no choice but to marry Joanna because she once saved his life.”

Would Winston and Millie have lived happily if not for that kidnapping? Anyway, he found it hard to warm

up to Joanna.

Millie massaged her ankles in a black SUV as Terrence scolded her, “What are you doing? I have a client with me!”

She lifted her gaze and looked into Kennedy Sullivan’s eyes. Kennedy–a hardy, handsome young man with a buzzcut–was Terrence’s client.

“No worries,” Kennedy remarked.

Millie placed her shoes on the floor and lowered her legs with an apologetic smile. “Excuse me, Mr. Sullivan.”

She didn’t intend to disrespect him; she had done that out of reflex in a moment of exhaustion. She thought they would not notice her actions because they were discussing work by her side.

“Kennedy, I’ll hand my company over to my daughter. I hope you’ll mentor her if the chance arises. I think you youngsters will get along well.”

Millie shot a look at Terrence. “I have no plans to take over your company yet!”

Kennedy looked at Millie with a smile.

“It’s just a matter of time. Who else will take over my sprawling business empire if not you?” Terrence stroked Millie’s head before resuming his work discussion with Kennedy.
