Chapter 81
Chapter 81 Who Will Win This Battle Between Tricksters
The crowd stood in stunned silence. Anthony, renowned as a gambling legend in Bellmont City, hadn’t gambled in years, but his reputation was enough to put Joseph to shame.
Anthony’s challenge carried real weight. Yet, despite his status, forcing a younger woman into such a gamble felt like he was overreaching his power.
Gwen shrugged, and her tone was nonchalant. “And what if you lose?”
It was clear Anthony had targeted her from the beginning.
He wanted Gwen to admit she was the mistress? What a joke.
“I won’t lose! Anthony declared in a booming voice. ‘Just tell me whether you’re willing to gamble!”
Anthony’s intimidation might’ve been unfair, but no one dared to speak against him.
“If you lose, I want Sienna to kneel before me, admit her mistake, and slap herself for coming between my marriage!” Gwen’s eyes lingered on the emerald ring Anthony was continuously twisting around his thumb “Also, hand the emerald ring over as compensation.”
The crowd collectively held their breath. That emerald ring was priceless, a family heirloom Anthony adored and always wore. Many exchanged glances, their eyes filled with awe at Gwen’s bravery.
“What’s wrong? Don’t you think you should raise the stakes if you want me to humiliate myself like that?” Gwen’s voice remained calm.
Anthony’s fingers fiddled with the ring more aggressively now, his rage barely contained. Gwen was really going after his possession of the emerald ring!
But he thought of the recent dips in Charles Group’s share price due to the controversy, and his gaze turned icy. “Fine, we’ll bet!”
*Are you confident in winning this?” Judy asked Gwen with concern.
“It’s nothing. Just watch me make use of my techniques. Gwen gave a wink to Judy.
Anthony felt very confident as Gwen had only been lucky to roll four sixes while he could get whatever desired result. There was no way he’d lose.
“One roll to decide it all. Nothing else matters!” Anthony’s aged hand grasped the dice cup with precision, shaking it expertly a few times before setting it down firmly and revealing the result with a quick motion. Four sixes!
The crowd was impressed as he had rolled the biggest number on just the first try. They also looked at Gwen with worry.
It was the highest possible roll, and all eyes turned to Gwen, wondering how she could beat it. Gwen used the same method for the last game. She gave the dice a light shake and casually placed the cup down. She raised her chin toward Anthony. “My roll’s higher than yours. You’ve lost.”
“Ridiculous! I’ve never seen anything higher than this!” Anthony scoffed, his tone full of disdain.
Without a word, Gwen flicked the cup open with her fingers and walked up to Anthony without waiting for the crowd to react. She extended her hand. “Please hand over the ring to me.”
The crowd rushed forward to see what had just happened, and they gasped in shock. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Five sixes!
How could there be an extra dice? They all clearly remembered seeing her placing four in the cup earlier. “You cheated!” Anthony slammed the table in rage.
*Please take it easy and don’t damage my emerald ring Gwen smiled, entirely unbothered by his outburst. “I cheated? And you didn’t?”
Gwen toppled the dice cup and revealed a small magnet stuck to the bottom. The crowd went silent as they stared at the evidence.
Anthony’s expression darkened, but after years of navigating the underworld, he had become shameless. He brazenly declared, “Since both of us cheated, this round doesn’t count. Let’s do it again!”
Realizing he couldn’t win by tricks, he resolved to play straight this time, and he was confident that he could outplay Gwen fair and square.
“You were the one who said one roll decides it all and nothing else matters. It’s clear that you’ve lost.” Gwen’s gaze grew sharper.
The crowd finally understood that Gwen was the real expert, silently executing her trick without anyone noticing.
“The entire entertainment industry just heard your promise. Are you really planning to go back on it?” Gwen questioned.
At this moment, Judy raised her camera and snapped a few photos before checking the shots. “Thanks, Mr. Charles. Looks like I’ve got another trending topic for tomorrow.”
