sedans were parked at the gate, leaving no space for Leonard’s car.

He had to drop off Bella and then find another place to park.

Bella walked into the courtyard and caught a glimpse of Dominic holding some blueprints and discussing something with others. The sunlight filtered through the grape trellis, casting delicate shadows on him, making it seem like a picturesque scene.

Suddenly, a woman dressed in professional attire with short, neat hair emerged from the kitchen carrying a tray of tea. Bella instinctively stepped back and retreated to her room.

That woman was the same one who had been in Dominic’s arms when they entered the hotel. Bella had waited outside the hotel all night, dreading what might have transpired between the two in Dominic’s

room.

Even on this business trip, he had brought that woman along.

With Dominic’s arrival, Leonard’s place became fully occupied and much livelier. But for Bella, it was a form of torture. Her once peaceful life was completely disrupted.

To avoid running into Dominic, she limited herself to moving between her room and the kitchen. Most of the time, though, the kitchen was occupied by the woman he had brought along, who seemed to be in charge of his meals and personal care.

Whenever they ran into each other in the kitchen, Bella remained silent, like a timid creature that couldn’t make a sound. Magdalena, on the other hand, would always greet her, to which Bella would only respond with a nod before hurriedly escaping.

Bella went to the kitchen to make herself something to eat late at night and once again encountered Magdalena.

Perhaps because she saw Magdalena was only preparing a drink and would leave soon, she didn’t try to avoid her this time.

Magdalena greeted her as usual, then suddenly asked, Do you think there’s something more than professional between me and Mr. Miller?”

Bella looked at her in surprise but didn’t respond.

Magdalena smiled. “Sometimes, what you see isn’t always the truth. Mr. Miller isn’t that kind of man. I’m just his assistant, nothing more.”

Bella couldn’t understand why she felt the need to say any of this. Anything related to Dominic had nothing to do with her now.

After making some instant noodles and finishing it, Bella thought about taking a shower.

The doctor had advised her not to let water touch her wound, as it would hinder recovery, and she understood this. She thought she could be careful enough.

Bella entered the bathroom and undressed. Just as she turned on the shower, the bathroom door suddenly opened.

She was startled and grabbed a piece of clothing to cover herself. When she saw that it was Dominic, she froze. “Do you… need to use the bathroom? I’ll leave right now!”

Dominic looked at her with a blank expression. “You’re a doctor. Don’t you understand basic common

Bella had no response. She wanted to say she’d be careful not to get the wound wet, but the words stuck in her throat, refusing to come out.

As the bathroom door closed again, she dejectedly dried herself off. Although she felt somewhat refreshed, she couldn’t wash her hair.

She had a lot of it, and it hadn’t been cut for many years. It reached past her waist, was naturally healthy, and had never been dyed or permed. It used to be her pride, but now it felt like a burden.

The weather had been unpredictable lately, and it was especially warm these past few days. She couldn’t stand the discomfort of not washing her hair and considered cutting off the long hair she had grown for

so many years.

The courtyard was quiet, with no one around, and the lights in Dominic’s room were off. Bella found a pair of scissors and placed a trash can at her feet.

Her slender fingers gathered her long hair together, and she brought the sharp scissors close.

Before she could cut it, the scissors were suddenly snatched from her hand.
