Chapter 794
Remington pulled out the chair for Fiona, while Lizetta helped the old lady to her seat. Then, they heard Remington speak. "Grandma, you're absolutely right. I'm already in such a mess, and I regret it enough. Please, let's just move past this."
Fiona, her heart aching for her grandson, turned to Lizetta and said, "Liz, could you help him get cleaned up? Seeing him like this breaks my heart." Lizetta understood Fiona's intentions all too well.
Earlier, Tina mentioned the guest room's hot water was broken, and Lizetta didn't think much of it until she saw that oil painting in the bedroom. It became clear that Fiona wanted her to discover that painting, hoping she and Remington could mend their relationship.
In this moment, as Fiona played matchmaker, Lizetta met the old lady's gaze, feeling a bit soft-hearted. However, she also knew raising false hopes in Fiona only to disappoint her later was even more unacceptable.
So, she bit her lip and firmly declined, "Grandma, I'd rather help you with dinner. Let's have the maid help Mr. Dashiell get cleaned up."
Sitting next to Fiona, Lizetta's refusal was clear. Fiona realized she had completely shut the door on the idea, especially after recalling how Tina had accidentally spilled juice on Remington, who had rushed back to his room.
The two had spent quite a while in the bedroom, disheveled. Fiona had hoped there might be some sparks, some progress, but...
She glared at Remington in disappointment.
Useless, not even able to charm his own wife!

"Fine, if a grown man can't even dry his own hair, he deserves to be miserable!"
Remington took a seat across from Lizetta, locking eyes with her as she looked down.
"Grandma, you've got me all wrong. I'm actually quite good at drying hair; I just can't be bothered with my own," he retorted.
Lizetta felt a rush of warmth remembering his touch in her hair.
Fiona's gaze lingered on Lizetta and Remington, sensing something had indeed happened between them.
Feeling the old lady's scrutinizing eyes, Lizetta's cheeks warmed. She tried to get up to serve Fiona some soup, but the butler suddenly entered, announcing, "Madam, Ms. West has arrived."
The atmosphere in the dining room turned tense.
For over a month, Remington had refused to see Stella. Yet, she kept visiting the Dashiell family estate every now and then, clearly aiming to win Fiona's favor to marry into the Dashiell family.
Fiona, unaware of the full story but remembering Stella had once saved Remington, couldn't outright dismiss her. However, she didn't meet Stella every time she visited; out of ten attempts, she might see her four or five times.
"Send her away. Today's not a good day for visitors," Remington said, frowning deeply.
He was a bit irritated. Of all times, Stella had to choose now to visit. Could she know Lizetta was here?
Concerned for Fiona's health and considering the unresolved issues with the West family, he hadn't elaborated much to Fiona. But his past attitude towards Stella had been clear. Yet, it seemed Stella hadn't taken the hint, still lacking a sense of propriety.
Remington's gaze turned cold. As the butler turned to leave, Fiona suddenly spoke, "Let her in."
