Chapter 96
Trevor was really scared, thinking what if Jessica pushed him away? Or what if she doubted him?
Jessica was in so much pain that she didn't even know what to say now.
"Trevor, when they all called me a murderer, you didn't care about anything when you defended me. However, why didn't you believe me when Samantha died that time? Is it because I look different now?" Jessica thought. "Don't cry, please. Don't worry. I'll deal with this." Trevor couldn't bear seeing her cry.
He stepped forward and pulled her into his embrace.
He really couldn't control himself. It didn't matter if Jessica suspected him.
No matter what, this time, he would do whatever it took so that she would never leave him ever again.

"This... What is going on with the Chairman? Oh my God. Is there something going on with the Chairman
and the secretary? He would actually help her in settling the murder case?" the onlookers thought.
With this, everyone started thinking differently of Jessica. Under Trevor's orders, Martin then sent Jessica back to her room.
As for Trevor, he would want to personally investigate this case himself. He swore that he would find out the true murderer.
Jessica was sitting on the couch in her room with her head drooping. She was feeling utterly dejected.

The door was suddenly pushed open, but of course, she didn't lock it in the first place since she knew that people would come flooding over after all that had happened.
"Ms. Lockett, are you all right?" A crisp voice sounded from the door, and Jessica's heart tugged when she heard that.
"Is that Bennett? Why is he back?" she thought as she smiled.
Jessica turned her head and looked at the young boy who was entering. It was as if she had forgotten whatever that had happened just now.
"I thought Bennett never liked me, so why would he look for me?" she thought again.
"Bennett, are you looking for me?"
Jessica patted the empty space beside her and smiled. She wanted to lessen the frustration that Bennett had toward her.
"Ms. Lockett, Daddy said you've been wronged and told me to console you."
Bennett didn't want to lie, and there was no point in lying to a woman who was practically a stranger to him.
He still thought that Jessica was power hungry and was together with his dad because of his dad's money, but at the same time, Bennett pitied her as well.
It was because Bennett knew that his mother was wronged as well, and that was why she left Herington.
They were alike in that sense. They were both wronged.
"Thank you, Bennett. You must be sad and lonely, huh? With your mom not being with you for so many years."
Jessica raised her hand and ruffled Bennett's head with guilt surging through her heart.
"How do you know?"
Bennett furrowed his brows and was obviously reluctant by what she was doing.
He didn't want people to know about his affairs. "Never let anyone know your weakness; never let anyone become your weakness. If so, then you would never lose." That was
what his father had told him before.
Even though he didn't really like his father, he still thought that what his father had said was correct. "Of course, I know. Mr. Gulliford only brought you back a few years ago, right? Everyone knows that."
Jessica acted as if it was natural. She still couldn't disclose anything to him. Trevor might separate them if he knew, and she might never see Bennett again if so.
Bennett just lowered his head, not saying a word.
"Bennett, are you angry? Or are you sad?"
Jessica furrowed her brows slightly, but her eyes were full of love.
"I'm not angry."
Bennett raised his head. He promised his father that he would make her happy.
He would never break his promise. Yes, he may be young, but he would keep his promises.
"That's good. You're so obedient."
Jessica took a deep breath. Her eyes were now filled with worry when she thought of what had happened.
"Maybe I can help you check your
condition? My medical skills are quite great," Bennett then said with a smile on his face. He seemed pretty confident about this.
