Chapter 44
Jessica pulled the chair beside her over to block the two men off. Then, she pushed the table to force them to the corner. In an instant, she swung her hand and cut their arteries.
The last man rushed over. Jessica didn't have time to react to that. Lifting her leg, she tried to kick him, but she realized she couldn't straighten her lame leg.
She was a few centimeters away from that man, so she couldn't reach him. The next second, that man stabbed her left shoulder with a sharp knife. Blood flowed out of her wound and streamed down her arm. Jessica suppressed the pain in her arm. Turning around, she stabbed his left chest with the only energy left.
That man collapsed onto the ground. Clenching the dagger in front of his chest, he widened his eyes in dissatisfaction.
Jessica kicked him mercilessly, sending him to the ground. She moved her long, slender fingers to his chest and pulled the dagger out.
"That knife is only an inch away from your chest." Jessica pointed at his left shoulder. Looking at the man, who was frowning, she curled her lips into a smirk.
"Don't forget to hurt someone's crucial part when you try to kill someone in your next life." As soon as Jessica finished talking, she turned around and walked out of the house to lean against Samantha's tombstone. She dared not to leave the graveyard because she was afraid that Trevor would use that as a reason to stop donating his bone marrow to Bennett.
Furthermore, she dared not to release her grip on her dagger. She feared she couldn't do anything if Trevor sent more people there later. She had inhaled a large amount of sleeping gas, so her body was itchy.
"Sammie," Jessica reached out her trembling hand to touch Samantha's tombstone. "Can you help me? For the sake of we were once close." Biting her red lip, she tore off her sleeve. After mustering up her courage, she raised another hand to remove the dagger on her left shoulder. In an instant, blood spurted out of her wound. Her wound was even more serious than it was just now.
She bandaged her wound slowly with the cloth she tore off from her sleeve just now.
"As long as Bennett can survive, I'll do anything I can," she thought.
Time ticked by slowly. Jessica lay in front of Samantha's tomb, waiting for the time to pass.NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
The next day, she headed back into the house to give Monica a call as soon as the sun came up.
"Jessica, Mr. Gulliford said he'll not donate more bone marrow to Bennett next time."
Monica's words struck Jessica like a bolt of lightning. She knitted her brows while staring at the bodies on the ground in a daze. She was completely dumbfounded.
"Is it because I resisted last night? Is that why Trevor goes back on his words? Why? Why does he have to humiliate me as a condition to donate his bone marrow to Bennett?" Jessica wondered. She hung up the call in a daze. After some time, she dialed Trevor's number.
The call was connected immediately after.
"Mr. Gulliford, you've promised me! Why do you go back on your words? Why don't you want to donate your bone marrow to Bennett anymore?" Jessica's voice was trembling.
"So, he decided to stop donating bone marrow to Bennett just because I don't allow him to humiliate me?" she muttered to herself internally.
"I just don't feel like donating anymore. Do you have a problem with that?" Trevor's voice was cold and indifferent.
"Trevor, I'm begging you. As long as you can save Bennett, I'm willing to give you everything. Can we meet up and discuss it? Where are you, Mr. Gulliford?" Jessica held her phone nervously. She had to do anything to make Trevor save Bennett, even if she needed to kneel at him.
She was willing to live as a dog, or a slave as long as Trevor wanted to save Bennett.
"I'm at Cerulean."
"I'll go and meet you now. Please wait for me. Please give me some time." Jessica hung up the call and rushed out of the graveyard as if she had lost her mind. Then, she hailed a cab at the roadside.
"A-Are you going to the h-hospital?" The taxi driver was shocked by the blood stains all over her body. Terrified, he stammered.
Jessica shook her head. "Go to Cerulean, please."
Her life did not matter to her. After all, Bennett's life was much more important.
