Chapter 3220
Chapter 3220
Grandma May said to her friends, "It's a little cold today. Do you guys want to have a drink to warm yourselves up?"
"Madam," Sam immediately objected when he heard this. "You mustn't. If Mr. Zachary finds out, he'll blame me for not taking good care of you."
"How would he know if you don't tell him? Zack's beginning to resemble his grandfather by the day, that control freak," she grumbled.
Her friends laughed and said, "He's just worried about your health. At our age, it's better to drink less alcohol."
"It's fine if we have a bit of fruit wine. Sam, get two bottles of fruit wine. It's not satisfying to have grilled food without alcohol."
Sam did not object further. He called the main residence to have the fruit wine delivered. Apart from the fish they caught themselves, Sam had prepared other foods to grill for the ladies. There were a few kids too young to go to preschool enjoying themselves too. Sam had prepared fruit juice for them.
This was the kind of life Grandma May enjoyed, surrounded by both old and young. Next year, her first great-grandchild would be born.
She gave the sausage she just grilled to a cute little girl and even patted her hair. "Dolly's getting cuter as she grows. You look just like a doll! Your mom gave you the perfect name."
Dolly took the sausage and said sweetly, "Thank you, Old Mrs. York.”NôvelDrama.Org © content.
Grandma May smiled kindly. "What else do you want to eat? I'll grill it for you."
"I want a drumstick." Dolly was not afraid at all to say what she wanted, probably because she interacted with Grandma May often.
One of the old ladies laughed. "Old Mrs. York, this drumstick is done. Do you want, Dolly? I'll give it to you first and Old Mrs. York can grill another one later."
"You can eat first, Old Mrs. York. I
have the sausage. I'll eat the drumstick later." Dolly ate her sausage She was not so gluttonous as to want the drumstick right now. She even said, "When I grow bigger, I can grill drumsticks too! I'll make some delicious ones for all the grannies."
The old ladies all laughed and praised her for being so sweet. Dolly, embarrassed by the praise, walked over to Sam. She followed him everywhere and watched what he did seriously. Amused, Sam asked, "Dolly, why are you following me?"
"I'm watching what you do. When I grow up, I want to take over from you."
Sam patted her head with a laugh. "You're only three years old. You have a long way to go. Once you've grown up, I'll have retired and left my work to my successor long ago. You might have to wait for the next butter to retire before you can take over, you know?"
He did not expect the little girl to want to be the head butler of Wildridge Manor. "You should be a
little more ambitious, Dolly. You
should dream of joining Mr.
Zachary's company when you're all
grown up and becoming an
executive there."
Dolly said proudly, "My daddy says Uncle Sam is amazing and earns lots of money! That's why I want to succeed you!"
Sam was speechless. He did have a high income-after all, he was the head butler of Wildridge Manor.
