Serenity and Zachary York

Chapter 3171

Chapter 3171

“Registering the marriage won't take much time. You can just make some time to come back.” Duncan insisted on them getting their marriage license first.

Once they were husband and wife in the eyes of the law, Liberty could relax.

He would officially be taken and any interested ladies would stay away from him.

“Duncan, let's have a good chat about this when I have time. You should consider it carefully during this time too. Marriage is a big life event and you shouldn't be impulsive about it. As a divorcee, I have to be very careful about my second.”

Duncan could tell that Liberty did not want to get married to him right now. Perhaps she was too busy, or perhaps that dream had worried her, but she had changed her mind again.

Her last sentence made it clear that the trauma from her last marriage had cut deep.

He had not done enough. In reality, there were no such contenders for his love, but just a dream could make Liberty worry that he would turn his back on her, and change her mind about getting married.

“Alright, let's talk when you're free. Sonny will be going on winter break soon. I'll bring him over to visit you then.”

Zachary chimed in, “Sonny just told me yesterday that he wanted to go to FC Manor to visit Laurence during his winter break. When Seren asked why he didn't want to go to Jensburg, he said it was really cold. “Liberty will definitely be back for Christmas, so the little guy doesn't want to go there. He said he'll just wait at home for his mom.”

Duncan was silent for a moment. “He didn't tell me that.”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Zachary laughed. “He's not asking you to go with him, so why would he tell you?”

He was Sonny's uncle. For now, Sonny's emotional scale was tipped in his favor. Duncan was still just Dunc right now and was not Sonny's stepfather yet.

Duncan was at a loss for words.

Liberty said, “It's the end of the year. All the big companies are getting really busy now. You don't have to come here, Duncan. You should handle all the company’s affairs first so we can have a peaceful year. My company will be going on break too, so I'll come back then.”

She was also an employer now. Even if she did not want to take a break, her employees did.

Since everyone was going on break and no one would be working, as the boss, she naturally had to take a break too.

Before they did, though, Liberty wanted to close more deals so she did not have to worry about not having any orders after the holidays ended. “It's fine. My company has been open for so many years, our business stabilized a long time ago. The operations won't be affected even if I'm absent for a month. My management team is very capable.

“I'll leave you to it, Liberty. I can hear someone knocking on your door. I'll call you again when you're free tonight.” Duncan could hear knocks from Liberty's side and stopped taking up her time.

Liberty's Jensburg company had just been established and was still teething. Last weekend when he visited with Sonny, Liberty told him that the company only had expenses and no revenue right now.

Even if they had orders, they had not sent any goods out yet. Thus, they had no revenue, and the small amounts of deposits received were not enough to cover their daily expenses.

She was under immense pressure and did not know if she could manage the company well. She was in competition with Fisher Enterprise and they did not want her company to do well either, constantly keeping tabs on her company. Both companies tried to steal the other's business.

In contrast, Lewis & Co. had been established for over a decade. Business was stable and most of the management team had been working with Duncan since its founding, so he trusted them.

Even if he was not around, he did not have to worry. They would not try to usurp him.
