Salute To The General

Chapter 3134

Chapter 3134

It could be said that the entire Curia had recently heard a lot about Nathan.

Even Eugene IV was heaping praises on him and proclaimed that he was God's chosen one.

Hence, all the members of the Curia were full of admiration for him.

Moreover, there was currently a blood virus outbreak and vampires running rampant.

As they were sent there on a perilous mission to deal with the vampires, having Nathan backing them up boosted their sense of security.

Naturally, there were also people exceedingly displeased with Nathan's arrival and even more so by the fact that everyone had to form a line to welcome an Aplothian.

That person was Brenton, a Holy Knight, standing beside Hepburn.

Brenton came from a wealthy family in Salinsburgh, but he was exceptionally talented and strong. When he was young, he was already well known for his tremendous strength, and after he had defeated countless elites, the locals hailed him as unmatched in strength.

Subsequently, he accidentally saw the Holy Maiden, Hepburn, on TV. He was astounded and fell in love with her. After that, he did everything he could and finally succeeded in joining the Curia and becoming a Holy Knight.

Not only did he make no effort to conceal his feelings for Hepburn, he even pursued her relentlessly. Unfortunately, Hepburn had no interest in him as she was aware of his past as a playboy.

Brenton did not care, though, and often shamelessly appeared in front of her.

Hence, after learning that Hepburn was leading a team to Musbane to fight against the vampires, he joined voluntarily and followed her there.

The sight of Hepburn telling everyone to form a line to greet Nathan and her subsequent excitement when she saw the latter made Brenton burn with jealousy.

"Isn't he just a mere Eurasian God of War? Is he worthy of such a high standard of welcome from us? I think it's just a hollow reputation. Everything is just sugarcoated. Who knows! He might not even be as strong as me!” he remarked with a derisive snort.

Hepburn was slightly displeased when she heard his words. "Brenton, you were not at the headquarters of the Curia previously, so you didn't witness Mr. Cross in action. Otherwise, you wouldn't have said such ignorant words. I've seen his strength with my own eyes. How can he be the person you claimed to have a hollow reputation? You'd better have some humility and respect. If you offend Mr. Cross, don't blame me for not showing mercy." Brenton was enraged by her admonition, and his cheeks were aflame, but he could not lash out.

All he could do was turn his anger into hatred and glare viciously at Nathan, who was getting off the plane in the distance.

At that moment, Nathan and his men had already gotten off the plane.

"Welcome, Mr. Cross!" the bishops and Holy Knights at the scene shouted in unison.

Hepburn also led several of her formidable men, including Brenton, forward to greet him. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

"It's great to see you, Mr. Cross. I was initially worried about the future, but I can finally feel relieved now that you're here," she said sweetly. Nathan shook hands with her and replied, "You've flattered me, Ms. Hepburn."

He then looked around the moderate-sized temporary camp in front of him, where a few hundred warriors from the Curia were stationed.

"This way, Mr. Cross. Come to my tent and have a cup of hot milk and something to eat before we talk," Hepburn offered.

However, Nathan shook his head. "No, I'm not hungry, nor do I have any appetite. Are we far from the capital of Musbane? The remains of my two thousand Eurasian warriors are still there. I wish to go and collect the bodies of my men first."

Hepburn stammered, “I-It's not far, only about a dozen kilometers, but there..."

"What's there?" Nathan asked.

Brenton snorted. "That place has been completely invaded. Who knows how many powerful vampires and wandering bondslaves are there, so all your Eurasian soldiers might've already turned into

vampires. What's the point of collecting their remains? We won't accompany you if you wish to get yourself killed," he said sarcastically.

Nathan regarded the other man indifferently. "Get myself killed?”

Brenton sneered before replying coldly, "The leader of the vampires who led a team to destroy the city previously was Aaryan. Even though he is a duke, he is said to be stronger than the average prince. He has only ever been a duke because there have always been thirteen vampire princes and no opening for him to assume the position. He might still be in the ruins of the capital of Musbane right now. What more do you intend to accomplish there but get yourself killed?"

He then continued with a cynical smile, "Or you can beg me. When I'm content, I can consider going with you and protecting you when you encounter Aaryan."

Nathan scrutinized Brenton for a moment before letting out a chuckle. "There's no need for that."

After saying that, he turned and said to Hepburn, "Arrange some cars and a guide for me. We will go to the ruins of the capital of Musbane by ourselves."
