Jarek was holding onto two files in the hotel.

One was Nathan's, and the other was Penny's.

There was barely anything in Nathan's file, but Penny's file had dozens of documents in it.

It was unfortunate that he could not get more details about Nathan.

All he knew was that Nathan used to be the commander-in-chief of the North Army and that he was now mostly at home. Most of the information in the files were the records of the battles Nathan used to be in.

Jarek narrowed his eyes before muttering, "This guy has got a long list of achievements in the army. He must have taken credit for many of his subordinate's achievements. Why else would his list be so elaborated?"

He then threw Nathan's file aside in disdain before reading Penny's file.

The moment he opened Penny's file and saw the photo of her in her work outfit, his brows raised.

Isn't she too beautiful? She's the bestlooking woman I've ever seen!

Jarek finally realized why Penny was called the goddess of Eurasia's corporate world. Her looks, figure, and demeanor made her out to be the perfect

woman.

In the photo, Penny had both the innocence of a young woman and the feminine qualities of a mature woman.

Jarek's lips curled.

A plan had formed in his head. Once he got rid of Nathan, Penny would become a widow.

Moreover, Penny would eventually submit to Ariarica and agree to their terms. She would end up giving half of the company's overseas profits to Ariarica, as well as letting Ariaricans control their overseas businesses.

Thus, Jarek thought, When that happens, I'll request from my higher-ups to become the one in charge of Cross Group's overseas businesses. Then, I'll win Penny over. By then, I'd have both a good career and a beautiful woman."

As Jarek thought about killing her husband and making her his, a perverted grin grew on his lips.

"Coen, Owain."

At that, two tall Ariarican men appeared in front of him.

Both were elite soldiers in the Ariarican army, and they were two of the bodyguards that Jessica had brought along.

Jarek had asked Jessica for them to assist him in killing Nathan.

Coen and Owain were both standing straight with straight backs as if they were two robots. In unison, they asked, "How may we help you, Mr. Zeyl?" As Jarek narrowed his eyes, he uttered, "Prep the car and bring your subordinates. We'll be paying Nathan Cross a visit." "Understood, Mr. Zeyl."

At Aeris Bar's booth, Nathan, Penny, Colin, Ava, and Kylie were drinking.

As it turned out, it was Ava's birthday that day.

Usually, Ava did not celebrate her birthday. As a matter of fact, she did not even know how long it had been since she last celebrated her birthday. However, Penny realized that it was Ava's birthday, and so, she had a brief talk with Nathan. They then invited Colin and Kylie to hold a simple celebration for Ava.

Ava did not have many things she liked doing. Other than training in combat, her only interest was drinking.

However, after Ava became Penny's personal bodyguard, she stopped drinking.

Thus, Nathan and Penny decided to celebrate Ava's birthday at a bar so that she would be able to drink to her heart's content.

Ava never thought that the Chief Military Governor and his wife would hold a birthday celebration for her.

Even though there were only a few people at the gathering, and although they only had a small cake, she felt so touched she could cry.

After the cake, she lifted her glass of wine and said to Penny and Nathan, "Thank you, Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross. I don't know what words of gratitude I can say, so, please, let me present this toast to you instead."

"Sure!"

Penny, Nathan, and the others all chuckled merrily before lifting their glasses to toast Ava.

After drinking, they became much more relaxed with each other.

Moreover, Nathan had said that Ava was the birthday girl, so she could take the day off to enjoy as much as she could.

For once,

Ava let herself loose. After

a few drinks with the others, the

urge to dance overcame her. Hence, she took off her jacket and happily left the booth to dance on the dance floor.

It was then Nathan, Penny, and the others realized that Ava was not a bad dancer at all. In fact, the way she danced was seducing.

Penny whispered to Nathan, "I never thought that Ava would be this good at dancing despite her usual solemn demeanor and the number of drinks she had earlier."

Nathan smiled and replied,

"Everyone has something they like.

It'll be boring if their whole life is just about working. Ava must be very stressed working as your bodyguard. This is a good

opportunity for her to unwin Over

Penny chuckled. "She's too pretty, and her dancing is hot. I'm scared that the men on the dance floor would bear ill thoughts toward her." Indeed, Ava had an attractive slim figure and long legs.

The moment she started dancing, the men around her began giving her flirtatious glances.

Right as Nathan was about to reassure Penny that her worry was unnecessary and that no one would dare to stir up trouble with Ava, something happened.
