Chapter 2499
Without sparing a glance for the injured Ashuras, Nathan said impassively to Max and the rest, "Next, or you can all come at once. Don't waste my time."
Max took a deep breath and braced himself to challenge the Chief Military Governor of Eurasia.
However, before Max could reply, Kenshun-a revered commander of the Jetroinian army-emerged from the crowd.
Kenshun sauntered toward Nathan with his hand resting on his katana. "I've heard many things about you, Chief. Word has it that you're undefeatable," he commented in a conversational tone.
"After what I've seen today, I'm convinced that the rumors ring true. I have been looking for a chance to learn from you. Since the opportunity has presented itself, please allow me to experience your eminence for myself."
Kenshun had been born into a prominent Jetroinian family. His mother was a renowned Jetroinian ninja, whereas his father was a famed politician. Since young, Kenshun received high-society education and excelled in music and arts. Furthermore, he enjoyed delving into the martial scripts of Eurasia and was a phenomenal swordsman.
By the time he was ten, word about Kenshun had spread across the nation like wildfire.
Heavy expectation had been laid upon his sixteen-year-old shoulders. Many had hoped that Kenshun would be the one to change Jetroina for the better and restore its former glory.
Despite the mass anticipation, Kenshun only trained in the privacy of his own home.
Even at the ripe age of thirty, he did not reveal his powers in public and simply let his name gain traction.
The public fervently prayed that Kenshun would lead the Jetroinians to success, but their hope dimmed over time, as Kenshun never made his debut. Some even speculated that Kenshun had stayed hidden because his abilities were too mediocre.
It was not until Kenshun's thirty-first birthday, which was the year before, that he finally showed the public what he was capable of.
The moment Kenshun debuted, he was tasked with a huge responsibility to lead the Jetroinian army as its commander.
The title 'Commander of the Jetroinian army' was equivalent to 'Chief Military Governor of Eurasia', as both positions were the highest military ranking in their respective countries.
Back then, Kenshun had just taken the position of commander when a territorial dispute occurred between Jetroina and Remdik.
Unperturbed by the daunting task, Kenshun led the Jetroinian army to win the battle and pressured the Remdikians into signing a peace treaty.
After securing his first victory, Kenshun earned the title ofjetroina's New God of War.
Hence, it came as no surprise that Nathan had heard of Kenshun.
Amused, he gave Kenshun a onceover and parted his lips to accept the challenge.
However, before Nathan could utter a word, Isaiah-the Volkian God of War-stepped forward as well.
Isaiah had previously tied in a battle with Lucas, so he was not intimidated by Nathan. He yelled at Kenshun, "General Aoki, I am the lord of this area. Since the Chief Military Governor of Eurasia is wreaking havoc on my territory, allow me to teach him a lesson."
Kenshun's brows furrowed imperceptibly. He was reluctant to give up on the chance to fight Nathan.
Noticing the tension between the two, Nathan interjected calmly, "No need to fight over this. Both of you come at me at once. It'll be my defeat if I can't handle you two."
Kenshun was mildly offended by Nathan's proposal.
Isaiah, on the other hand, chuckled mirthlessly as he remarked, "Your ego must be so inflated to speak to us with such insolence. In that case, General Aoki, let's combine forces and test his limits."
There was a brief pause as the gears turned inside Kenshun's head before he eventually agreed, "All right. I'll cover you."
In reality, Kenshun already had everything figured out. His brilliant plan was to agree to Isiah's suggestion and offer to be Isaiah's backup.
If Isaiah managed to single-handedly defeat Nathan, then Kenshun would get to watch the show from the sidelines.
Only if Isaiah failed to overpower Nathan would Kenshun join the fight.
Isaiah's confidence went up several notches after Kenshun agreed to join forces with him.
Isaiah unsheathed his sword in one swift motion. Standing with the blade's tip pointed toward the ground, Isaiah goaded, "Pull out your sword!" "I'll repeat what I said, I'll only pull out my sword when I meet a worthy opponent. Unfortunately, like Lord Ashuras, you are not worthy," came Nathan's cold reply.
The crowd was shocked, their varying emotions plastered plainly on their faces.
Although everyone present was no stranger to Nathan's arrogance, they still could not help being astounded by his gall, especially the Volkian soldiers.
Being ridiculed in front of his subordinates was a humiliating experience for Isaiah.
His features twisted into an ugly grimace as he spat through gritted teeth, "May that mouth of yours be as venomous as it is now when you die by my sword."NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
With that, Isaiah lunged at Nathan, moving so fast that he became a blur.
That battle was a lot more intense than the fight between Nathan and Ashuras.
The onlookers could easily tell that Isaiah was leagues ahead of Ashuras in terms of capability.
Isaiah brandished his sword, and the
air around him dropped several degrees. Every move he made was quick and precise, like a bolt of. lightning. Isaiah was, without a shadow of a doubt, a force to be reckoned with.
Unfortunately for Isaiah, Nathan was unfazed. He easily dodged Isaiah's attacks, each maneuver as natural as breathing.
Nathan, donning a mask and
cloaked in a military coat, switched
up his footwork as his moves flowed effortlessly from one to the other leaving the spectators in awe. All of Isaiah's ferocious attacks missed their mark.
Isaiah was stunned and angered by the fact that his blade had failed to graze even the hem of Nathan's military cloak.
Waldo, Isaiah's second-in-command, was equally shocked.
Noticing that his general was in an unfavorable position, Waldo summoned a few soldiers and whispered some instructions to them before urging, "Go, hurry!"
