Salute To The General

Chapter 2481

The second Isaiah finished his sentence, he rushed toward Lucas like a lightning bolt.

In response, Lucas swiftly picked up his spear and tried to stab his enemy like he would a slab of meat.

However, Isaiah managed to parry the attack with his sword, and before long, the sound of metal clashing echoed throughout the battlefield.

Holed up inside the headquarters building, Max frowned when he heard a familiar sound. "It doesn't sound like the Ares Squad is being assaulted by an ordinary task force. If I had to guess, I'd say that Lucas Ziegler, the Dragon of the West, had arrived."

Although the Ariaricans were surprised that Lucas would expose himself like that, they were glad that they had the opportunity to kill a high-ranking Eurasian officer.

"Come, let's go meet the Dragon of the West," suggested Max smugly.

When Max and his companions entered the battlefield, it was already thrown into complete chaos.

Even though Lucas had only brought a limited number of soldiers with him, they were on par with King of Warriors. On top of that, they had the element of surprise, so naturally, they were able to wreak havoc on their enemies.

Looking at the situation, Max knew that Isaiah and the other Volkians would not last until their reinforcements arrived.

Hence, Max quickly ordered his subordinates, "Get ready to fight. We have to help the Volkians."

"Yes, Sir!" Immediately, the powerful group of fighters behind Max readied themselves to join the battle.

Max brought with him not only highly-decorated soldiers but also a team of biologically-enhanced supersoldiers.

As expected, the tables were turned as soon as Max and his people joined the battle.

What was supposed to be an easy fight for the West Army suddenly incurred the troop with high casualties.

Lucas was still dueling it out with Isaiah when he noticed the apparent shift in the tide of battle.

A band of Ariaricans had joined the Volkians and were butchering his

men.

Accompanied by a few capable fighters, Max then appeared before Lucas and sneered, "So the Dragon of the West has decided to grace us with his presence, huh? You'll regret doing so because there's no way I'm going to let you live past tonight. After all, you're on the top of my kill list."

Lucas was surprised to see Max, for his intel mentioned nothing about the man being at the Ares Squad headquarters that night.

Watching his comrades fall one by one, Lucas was as shocked as he was furious.

Still, Isaiah continued to rain down attacks on Lucas with no intention of giving his enemy a moment of respite.

"I want to have some fun too," uttered Max before entering the fray with sheer power.

Even though Lucas was known as the Dragon of the West, facing two worldclass powerhouses simultaneously still proved extremely difficult for him.

To make things worse, one of his enemies took him by complete surprise, so he knew he could only last so long against the two.

The fact that the tide of battle had

shifted in the Volkians' favor and that the arrival of their

reinforcements was imminent made

it evident that Lucas and his people were in grave danger.

"General, you have to retreat! We'll cover you!" shouted Harold, the captain of the National Guard, before commanding his people to cover Lucas' retreat.

Immediately, Thomas and the others disengaged from the battle and quickly gathered to protect Lucas.

However, they were significantly low in numbers when compared to their enemies, so escorting Lucas to safety would not be an easy task.

Then, Harold threw himself at Max so that Lucas could escape.

"Who do you think you are? You're nothing but an insect to me!” insulted Max before grabbing Harold by the neck and slamming the man headfirst into an armored car.

Bam!

With his skull cracked open, Harold died right then and there. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Having witnessed the death of the captain, Lucas was instantly filled with boiling rage, so he forced Isaiah back with his spear and intended to go straight for Max's head.

However, Thomas quickly wrapped his arms around Lucas to stop the man from doing anything reckless. "Now is not the time for revenge, General Ziegler. We have to go!"

While Thomas was still speaking, Isaiah had already launched another attack on Lucas.

In that instant, Thomas knew the only way to save Lucas was to block the enemy's falling sword with his arm.

Slash!

Isaiah cut Thomas' left arm clean off with one decisive swing, and the man instantly let out a blood-curdling scream of pain.

Then, Lucas swiftly extended his spear to stab at Isaiah's throat, but the God of War was quick enough to jump back and evade the assault.

Still in excruciating pain, Thomas held on to Lucas with his remaining hand and begged, "Go, General Ziegler! Go!"
