Salute To The General

Chapter 2476

After the speech, Lucas dismissed the troops and invited Nathan to his office.

Nathan rejected him and said, "I'm visiting the West Army tonight to ask how everyone is doing. Since I haven't visited the other base camps, perhaps we should have that cup of tea in your office later. Come. Bring me to the other base camps of the West Army."

Left without a choice, Lucas brought his subordinates along to bring Nathan around.

That night, Nathan visited all the base camps and met with all thirty-odd thousand troops.

It was only until sunrise that Nathan, Lucas, and the others made their way back to the headquarters of the West Army.

After being served tea by the National Guards, Nathan gazed at Sage, Colin, and Elite Eight. "Please leave us. I have something I need to talk to General Ziegler alone."

Colin and the others saluted him and left.

Upon seeing that, Lucas also looked at the National Guards standing behind him and said, "Why aren't you guys leaving as well?"

All the troops from the West Army quickly saluted Nathan and Lucas before leaving.

Soon, only Nathan and Lucas were left inside the spacious meeting room.

Nathan raised his hand to take off the Leviathan mask and put it on the table. He smiled and said, "Phew! Now that it's just the two of us, I can finally take this mask off. I feel like it's just a hassle to keep wearing a mask. Especially when I'm with my friends and buddies, I should act more honestly. Don't you think so, Lucas?" Lucas took a glance at Nathan, and he instantly knew what he meant. He's saying that since we're friends, we should cut the chase and leave the fake bullsh*t aside. That way, our friendship won't be affected.

Instead of answering Nathan's question, Lucas said, "Thank you for visiting the West Army, Nathan."

Nathan looked at Lucas with a halfsmile on his face. "What? Are you angry? Are you feeling uneasy?

Shouldn't I be the one who's angry? If you were to act on your own and went to battle, I'd have to clean up after your mess, you know? If something goes wrong, we'd both end up being this country's villains."

Lucas flashed a bitter smile when he heard that. "Those rascals in Volk are too much! Yet you've always prevented us from teaching them a lesson. Didn't we wipe out the

Xyperian army with ease

ack then?

I don't understand why we're acting so cautiously when it comes to teaching Volk a lesson."

"We won't gain much by beating those rascals in Volk. Our main enemy is Ariarica. We should focus on that expert in Ariarica, Max. It's just a matter of time, but we're surely going to kill him. Before that, we shouldn't make more enemies. I know Isaiah is

acting very arrogantly recently. However, the ones who make the most noises are usually the weak ones. Remember, it's the quiet ones we have to be wary of!" Nathan said calmly.

Lucas kept quiet.

"I've already sent someone to talk to the president of Volk, President Stryker. We're trying to see if we can arrange a meeting with him. When see him I'll discuss with him how to restore the peace on our borders. Hence, please stop trying to declare war with anyone in the meantime, okay? Peace is better than anything else,” Nathan added.

Lucas knew the president of Volk was an advocate of peace. However, Volk's God of War, Isaiah, was an advocate of war. In Volk, Isaiah's influence is far greater than

President Stryker himself. Even

though President Stryker m

agree to have peace, Isaiah would most probably oppose the idea. Hence, we should definitely eliminate Isaiah if we were to achieve peace. Nevertheless, Nathan surely won't allow us to go

to war with Isaiah.

With that thought in his mind, Lucas had no choice but to keep his opinion to himself and listened to Nathan quietly.

Upon hearing no response from

Lucas, Nathan asked in a serious tone, "Lucas, can I trust you?"

Lucas nodded. "Of course!"

Nathan nodded in response as well. "Good. Not only are you a marquis, but you're also like a brother to me. I need to request something from you tonight, and I hope you can give me a guarantee."

Although Lucas knew exactly what Nathan was going to say, he asked anyway, "What is it?"

"Please don't go to battle with Volk on your own. Give me some time to have a peace talk with President Stryker." "Okay. I promise you that what happened tonight will never happen again."

Nathan flashed a satisfied smile and said, "Great! I trust you."
