Salute To The General



At noon, Nathan, Penny, and the rest set off for the Smith family manor.

Upon alighting the car, they were greeted with a closed-off gate. Furthermore, the atmosphere was eerily quiet. Immediately, it struck them as odd.

"Didn't we agree to celebrate Penn's birthday today? Why is it so quiet? Where is everyone?" Nathan questioned, feeling puzzled.

Penny and the rest were equally confused.

"Could it be that they're already done with the preparations and are hiding? They must be waiting to surprise Penny, the star of tonight's banquet!" Kylie suggested.

Hearing this, Penny and the rest chuckled. Kylie must be right.

Nathan stepped forward and pushed the door open as they entered the manor.

However, when they stepped inside, they instantly sensed that something was amiss.

All the Smith family members, including the staff, had been forcefully rounded up and were bound in ropes. A few of them even had gags stuffed in their mouths.

To make matters worse, they were surrounded by a group of fierce-looking men.

The sight caused Nathan to knit his brows together.

"Grandpa, Uncle Samuel, and Uncle Paul, what happened to all of you?" Penny cried out in shock.

All of a sudden, a loud bang echoed behind them. Hearing this, Penny whirled around, only to find that a group of men had slammed the gates shut. Promptly, Nathan and the rest heard a menacing voice. "Hahaha! Nathan, you're finally here. I've been waiting for you."

Instinctively, they looked over and noticed a man with his right arm in a cast. There was a wine glass in his other hand as he shot Nathan a cold smirk. A trembling Ferlyn stood beside him, serving him wine.

When Nathan caught sight of him, the scowl across his brows deepened.

"Jett, it's you again. I decided to spare your life last time given your military background and your moment of impulsiveness. And yet, you still came looking for trouble."

"Nathan, you were just lucky that my ambush failed last time." Jett clenched his jaw. "Today, I've brought two experts along with me to end your family. Not even a miracle can save you now."

It was then that Nathan noticed the two middle-aged men standing behind Jett. There was a distinct aura that shrouded their looming figures. "It's the Supreme Heavenly Duo!" Ava blurted.

A cackle left Jett's lips. "Hahaha!

The Supreme Heavenly Duo? When realization dawned upon him, Nathan was shell-shocked.

In the past, he had caught wind of rumors involving two of Layden's feared subordinates. They were dubbed the Supreme Heavenly Duo because of their frightening prowess in the art of killing.

It was even rumored that their strength surpassed Layden's.

But whilst Cayden climbed the military ranks, they disliked the rigidity of the military rules and chose to leave.

He never expected them to return after news of Layden s death spread worldwide. It looks like they are here to avenge his death.

"Cayden abandoned his country and

even sold himself out to be the lackey of another country. Countless innocents lost their lives as a result of his selfish actions. I hope you'll consider his crimes before you decide to take action," Nathan said calmly.

Bullsh*t! You were the one who caused his demise. He was a hero!" Jett snarled.

"If you don't believe me, you can pay a visit to the military and ask for yourself. The Cab and the White House will inform you of the truth," Nathan retorted.

His reply rendered Jett at a loss for words.

"What's the matter? Are you afraid? Could it be that you are aware of the fact that Cayden committed treason and turned against his own country? Is that why you haven't asked for the truth?" Nathan continued upon seeing how Jett remained silent.

"It doesn't matter if Mr. Quillen was right or wrong," Kit cut in calmly. He had a cigarette pinched between his fingers while his other hand was

buried in the pocket of his black suit. "He was Jett's mentor and our

brother in arms. Since you

you will have to pay for it with blood."

Irvin adjusted the sunglasses perched on his nose. "That's right. Now that Mr. Quillen is dead, we will bury you and your family alive as revenge."
