Chapter 810
Chapter 810
Caleb was a microphone hog. After he sang a song, everyone wanted him to sing a few more. He happily obliged and performed seven or eight songs in total.
It wasn’t until he finished that people remembered Skylar hadn’t sung yet.
“Skylar, come on, you should sing a song too. What would you like to sing? I can help you pick it out,” someone suggested.
Skylar smiled and replied, “I’m not very good at singing. You all go ahead and sing. I’ll just listen.”
“Alright then,” they agreed.
The colleagues didn’t press further. After working together for a while, they understood each other’s personalities. Skylar wasn’t one to pretend to be modest or need repeated encouragement to take action. Even though Skylar didn’t sing, she joined the group in playing games.
Before long, she had drunk a bit of alcohol. With her low tolerance, she felt tipsy after just two drinks and decided to head to the restroom.
As she entered the restroom, she heard the sound of someone vomiting from the adjacent stall. Skylar frowned.
She had been slightly tipsy and dizzy, but the sound of vomiting and the faint smell made her feel queasy. Fortunately, the sound of water flushing from the adjacent stall helped, and the woman stumbled out of the restroom.
Skylar then flushed the toilet and washed her hands. As she walked out of the restroom, she glanced at the woman ahead of her.
The woman was dressed in professional attire and seemed to have come here straight from work.
Her unsteady gait suggested she had been drinking heavily. From the back, the woman looked somewhat familiar, though Skylar couldn’t quite place why.
Skylar pressed her temples, feeling that she was imagining things due to the alcohol. She thought, “How could a stranger seem familiar?”
At that moment, a door to a room nearby swung open. Standing in the doorway, a middle–aged man spoke to the woman with frustration. “Why did you take so long?” he demanded.
The woman’s voice trembled with fear as she responded, “I can’t drink anymore, Mr. Martin. Please, don’t make me drink any more. I’ll do anything else you need just not this.”
Her posture was extremely submissive, and her tone was filled with dread toward the middle–aged man. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Skylar’s steps suddenly halted as she recognized the voices.
The woman was Jenny. The middle–aged man’s voice was also familiar.
“Really? If you’d been this obedient from the start, I wouldn’t have to make things so difficult for you,” Edwin said.
He was pleased with Jenny’s submissive attitude. He laughed heartily and roughly pulled her into the
room.
As they entered, Skylar caught a glimpse of Edwin’s face.
She stood frozen in place. Just moments ago, the two of them had been very close, and Edwin had even
squeezed Jenny’s bottom while holding her. That touch was anything but accidental.
Skylar took a deep breath. The slight buzz from the alcohol vanished instantly, leaving her completely
sober.
Jenny had been loudly declaring her love for Joe and lamenting that Skylar and Joe’s relationship had no future. Yet, she was now being intimate with Joe’s biological father. Skylar had underestimated Jenny’s true nature.
She stood at the door of the room for a few minutes on purpose. The sound inside was not very clear due to the music, but she could hear Jenny’s cries and pleas.
It was obvious what was happening inside.
LEAR
Skylar felt increasingly uncomfortable, her stomach churning. She took a deep breath, unable to hear it any longer.
After returning to the room and spending another two minutes with her colleagues, she called for a designated driver to take her back to Galaxy Villa.
With the car window half–open, the evening breeze came in waves. It helped her regain a bit of clarity. She wondered whether she should tell Joe about what she had witnessed at the karaoke bar.
Recalling the previous incident at the hotel, she wondered if Jenny had also been involved with Edwin back then. The commotion they had made back then was very loud, similar to the sounds she had heard outside the room just now.
She wondered whether she should tell Joe.
Arriving at Galaxy Villa, she found that Joe wasn’t there. He hadn’t returned yet, or perhaps he wouldn’t be coming back at all.
Skylar went straight to the bathroom to take a shower.
