Skylar suddenly recognized the man in front of her. It was Ned. He furrowed his brow and turned to look at the source of the voice.

Rosa approached quickly, her demeanor tense, as if she were facing an enemy. Skylar regained her composure just as Rosa reached them. In a low voice, she said to Ned, “I’m sorry.” This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

She had mistaken him for someone else once again.

“What were you two talking about?” Rosa demanded, her eyes narrowing in suspicion as she stood before them.

Rosa had only come in for a routine check–up after a car accident. However, during the examination, they discovered a cyst on her ovary, leading to an unexpected hospital stay and surgery scheduled for the next few days.

Unexpectedly, Skylar was at the hospital again today. She happened to run into Ned, who had just arrived.

Rosa didn’t understand why Skylar kept showing up in front of Ned. Moreover, the way they locked eyes just moments ago made it feel like everyone else around them was irrelevant. The entire world belonged to just the two of them.

Even standing there, facing both of them, she felt like the most superfluous presence.

Skylar replied coolly, “It was nothing.”

After saying that, she turned to head toward Paul’s ward.

As she passed Rosa, she suddenly felt Rosa’s grip tighten on her arm. Rosa confronted her with a challenging tone, What’s got you flustered? Skylar, why do I feel like you’re hiding something?”

She had seen the two of them gazing at each other with deep affection as if they weren’t even speaking. Yet, it felt like thorns were growing in her heart. The discomfort was unbearable,

and she couldn’t shake it off.

“Rosa, let her go,” Ned said in a low voice.

Rosa’s grip on Skylar’s arm trembled slightly. She bit her lip, unwilling to back down.

Before Rosa could release her grip, Skylar brushed off Rosa’s hand. “If you keep acting like this, maybe I should really think about why you’re so on edge. Are you afraid of something?”

If it was merely jealousy over her trying to win Ned’s affection, then Rosa shouldn’t lack

confidence in herself.

Rosa’s actions were tinged with insecurity. Skylar observed her thoughtfully, taking in the signs of her discomfort.

Caught off guard by Skylar’s probing question, Rosa’s anxiety deepened.

“I’m just curious about what you two were talking about. After all, you were standing so close together, it’s easy to misinterpret things,” she blurted out.

She then turned to Ned and added, “Ned, maybe it’s because I had the car accident and am facing surgery soon, so I’m being overly sensitive. I didn’t mean to make things awkward.”

Then she looked back at Skylar and said, “I’m sorry, I overreacted just now.”

Skylar raised an eyebrow, pondering the apology. “It’s fine.”

With that, she turned to leave, casting one last glance at Ned.

As Rosa watched Skylar walk away, she bit her lip and said, “Ned, I can’t help but feel that this isn’t just my imagination. You’ve been acting differently around Skylar lately. Do you find her attractive? If you like her, I’ll step aside and let you two be together.”

Her last statement was laced with a sense of vulnerability.

Ned’s expression remained unreadable as he replied, “You’re overthinking it.”

Seeing Ned’s straightforward response, Rosa quickly suppressed the urge to respond with a feigned sweetness. The tactics that had worked on others seemed ineffective with Skylar.

She couldn’t shake the thought that if she suggested breaking up, Ned would agree without a moment’s hesitation.

That was a risk she couldn’t take.

“I heard Natalie is being discharged today, so why is Skylar back in the hospital? Is she here to run into you on purpose? It’s not like it hasn’t happened before,” Rosa said, deliberately casting doubt on Skylar’s intentions.
