Richest Mogul 1126

Chapter 1126

Skylar glanced at Steven, who was driving.

Seeing that she was on a call, Charles, Janine, and Harvey fell silent.

“Yeah, I’m free,” she replied.

Lizzie’s voice dropped even lower, clearly trying not to be overheard. Fortunately, Skylar could still hear her clearly through the phone.

“They put me and Joe in the same room. And… Joe’s had too much to drink,” Lizzie said,

nudging Joe as she spoke.

In her view, Joe wasn’t the type to get drunk easily, so she wondered why he was overdoing it

today.

“Too much to drink?” Skylar was also surprised. Joe had texted her just about ten minutes ago, and she could hardly believe he was drunk already.

“I thought it was strange too. I even wondered if he was faking, but I’ve nudged him several times, and he’s barely reacting,” Lizzie explained.

Skylar’s expression darkened. “You two shouldn’t stay at Avalon Residence. I’m worried the people there might stir up trouble. Is Paul around?”

“Paul’s still downstairs, socializing with the others.” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“I’ll call him. Lizzie, please don’t leave the room. Just stay there with Joe.”

“Got it. Don’t worry, I didn’t drink. I’ll keep an eye on him.”

Skylar immediately called Paul, but the phone rang for a long time without being answered. She tried again a few more times, but still no response.

An uneasy feeling started to creep over her.

Steven noticed her troubled expression and asked, “Skye, is something wrong?”

Hearing that, Janine, Charles, and Harvey also looked at Skylar with concern.

Seeing their worried faces, Skylar shook her head. “It’s nothing. Just drop me off here. You guys can head home first.”

“Are you sure everything’s okay?” Steven asked pulling over to the side of the road, his tone serious.

“Yeah, I’m fine. You all head home first. I’ll have dinner with Joe tonight.” Skylar reassured them, not wanting them to worry.

After all, she wasn’t sure what was really going on yet. Maybe she was overthinking it.

Steven nodded.

Janine rolled down the window. “If anything comes up, just let us know. It’s always better for the family to figure things out together than to face it alone.”

“Yes, Skylar, if anyone’s messing with you, just tell me,” Harvey said, rolling up his sleeves as if he was ready for a fight at any moment.

Skylar felt a mix of warmth and amusement. “Alright, if anyone dares to mess with me, I’ll bring you to help me fight.”

“Count me in,” Charles chimed in, never one to back down from a fight.

Skylar laughed and nodded. “I’ll call on all of you.”

She glanced at the traffic light ahead and said, “You all better get going now. If you wait much longer, you’ll hit rush hour.”

“Be careful on your way,” Steven said.

Skylar pointed to the nearby subway station. “I’ll take the subway back, don’t worry.”

After Steven drove off, she immediately called Lizzie back.

Skylar couldn’t shake off her worry and reminded Lizzie, “Lizzie, I’ve been trying to reach Paul, but he’s not answering. I’m not sure what’s going on, so whatever you do, don’t open the door for anyone.”

Lizzie agreed and said, “Yeah, something feels off. It feels like someone drugged him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be sleeping this deeply. We’ve been so careful, but… I just asked a doctor friend. In this case, we should take him to the hospital. But there are too many people here, and I can’t get him out on my own.”

Skylar’s heart sank as she quickly thought of someone who could help. “Try calling Paul again. I’ve just thought of someone who might be able to help.”

Skylar thought of Rowan.
