Once Skylar, Lizzie, and Paul were in the car, Lizzie took off her mask and hat. She said, Lately, more people are starting to recognize me, so going out has become a bit inconvenient. But with a hat and mask, no one really recognizes me.” Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Paul chuckled, saying, “You makeup.”
On’t have to go through
all that trouble. Just go out without
In truth, Lizzie looked quite different with and without makeup. Only people close to her would recognize her right away.
The public, especially those online, had only seen the version of Lizzie with her signature look -long, flowing hair. She had a delicate, artistic appearance, all part of her carefully curated image.
Skylar’s mouth twitched. She found Paul’s bluntness amusing and wondered if he was bold enough to risk getting slapped.
But Lizzie didn’t mind at all. She simply pulled off her long wig.
Skylar was stunned by how effortlessly cool Lizzie looked with her short hair.
Paul wasn’t surprised at all. “You look much better this way,” he commented.
Noticing Skylar’s surprise, Lizzie smiled and said, “These days, no matter what you do, you have to build a persona. But it has its perks. No one’s going to associate this look with the violinist Lizzie.”
“You look amazing.” Skylar genuinely complimented her.
It was rare to see a woman pull off such a dashing style. Men didn’t stand a chance if a woman could be this handsome.
Lizzie’s mood brightened at the praise. “You’ve got good taste.”
“Don’t take it too seriously. She was just being polite. Do you think you’re more charming than Mr. Martin?” Paul felt a warning signal flare up inside him.
Lizzie
Paul had come along on this trip for more than just the food and to protect Skylar. His real mission was to keep an eye on Lizzie because Joe was worried about Skylar. However, was quite a handful, always flirting around.
Lizzie rolled her eyes, somewhat exasperated. “So Mr. Martin sent you to keep an eye on me, didn’t he?”
She couldn’t help but wonder if he really needed to be this jealous. It wasn’t like she was out there seducing married women.
Skylar smiled as she watched the two bicker while taking in the scenery outside the car.
It seemed like it had just rained. The roads were damp, and the weather was overcast, but the view was lovely nonetheless.
Before they knew it, they arrived at Garza Residence. Both Carl and Winona were waiting at the door. When they saw Skylar get out of the car, they came over together.
Upon seeing them, it became clear who Lizzie resembled. She had inherited more of her father’s features but appeared softer.
Winona and Carl wore warm smiles and appeared very approachable.
“Are you feeling tired after your flight? Why don’t you come in for lunch and then take a rest? “Winona said kindly.
Skylar smiled and nodded. “Sounds great.”
Carl and Paul knew each other, and they chatted as they walked.
Lizzie and Skylar walked together, and Lizzie said, “Make yourself at home. You don’t need to be too formal here.”
The Garza family had prepared a lavish lunch featuring local specialties. The food was both exquisite and delicious.
After the meal, Skylar and Paul went to the guest room to rest for an hour. Once they felt refreshed, Skylar asked Lizzie to take her to meet Herman first and then to check out some of the family’s artifacts.
Lizzie’s expression grew unusually serious in front of Herman’s door.
She said, “Herman… he’s changed into a different person. No matter what you say to him, he won’t respond. Lately, he’s been acting strange. He doesn’t like sunlight, keeps the curtains drawn all day, and sometimes doesn’t even turn on the lights.”
Seeing Herman now gave her a strange feeling, as if he were a stranger.
