Richest Mogul 1084
Chapter 1084
In moments like these, a woman was at her most vulnerable. Losing Joe could lead Skylar to spiral into self–destruction.
Claudio’s unexpected call offered her a choice that could change her trajectory. It was like a warm ray of hope amidst the cold.
“If you’re with me, I promise I’ll treat you better than Joe ever did. You won’t have to suffer anymore,” Claudio confidently declared.
“You’re insane.” After hurling that insult, Skylar hung up and swiftly blocked Claudio’s number.
It became clear to her that not all men bearing the surname Martin were as intelligent as Joe. Many of them, like Claudio, seemed to lack common sense.
After blocking him, she pressed the elevator button. Meanwhile, Claudio, enraged after being insulted, attempted to call her several more times. When those calls failed to connect, he realized she had
blocked him.
His teeth clenched in frustration.“Such a bad temper? It’s no wonder Joe abandoned you. You’ll be begging me soon enough.”
He had someone look into it and discovered that Skylar had been kicked out of Alexander’s team. Without Joe as her backing, she would soon come crawling to him.
He was determined to have her.
Skylar didn’t take Claudio’s calls seriously. She brushed it off and didn’t give it much thought. Once home, she found Joe stepping out of his study, dressed casually in jeans and a T–shirt.
He looked comfortable in his relaxed attire, yet she couldn’t help but wonder why he hadn’t changed into loungewear. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
Just as she was about to ask, Joe said, “There’s a situation with Rowan. I need to check on him. I’ll be late tonight, so don’t wait up for me.”
“Rowan?” Skylar echoed softly. Rowan and Jenny had seemed to be doing well living together recently.
She remembered how Minerva had mentioned that Rowan finally went to Reid Residence to discuss breaking off their engagement. With the matter now out in the open, Minerva no longer had to tread carefully, and the Jakeman family could no longer pressure her.
It was clear that Rowan was serious about Jenny.
“His parents sent him videos and photos of Jenny and Edwin together.” Even as Joe revealed such explosive news, his expression remained indifferent, as if the matter wasn’t significant.
Skylar could see through Joe’s calm demeanor. Despite his outward appearance, he was genuinely worried about Rowan’s situation.
In the living room, bottles of alcohol lay scattered across the floor. Some had even shattered, creating a mess that mirrored the moment’s chaos. The door stood ajar.
Joe pushed it open and was immediately greeted by the sight of scattered bottles of alcohol.
Upon seeing the mess strewn across the floor, Joe furrowed his brow. He then glanced at Rowan, who
was slumped on the couch, clutching a bottle and drinking heavily.
Spotting Joe, Rowan let out a self–deprecating laugh. Did you know about this all along? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“Some things you need to experience for yourself,” Joe repaid calmly.
Rowan paused, momentarily taken aback, then chuckled bitterly. “So, it was my parents who told you not to say anything, wasn’t it?”
“Do you know what Jenny said to me? She claimed your father coerced her. She painted herself as the victim, saying she felt guilty every single day.
“Then she asked me why I cared, pointing out that I had been with other women too. I was speechless. I had no idea she could be so articulate.”
