Chapter 35
Mayra moved closer to Anderson and took the chocolate back from his hand. She helped him remove the wrapping before holding it up to his mouth. "Andy, would you like to try it?"
He glanced at her deeply before averting his gaze indifferently.
"Just try it, Andy. I'm tired of raising my hand. I've never been willing to eat such delicious chocolate. I am usually hesitant to buy it, but I gave you the first one."
He then opened his mouth slightly, and she put it right into his mouth. Then, she sat back down obediently and began to speak to him. "Andy, it's getting late. Where are we going now?"
Anderson didn't like sweets. If he ate it, it would be leftovers from Mayra, which he always finished.
She looked at the dark road ahead of her. It was already midnight, so she felt sleepy. But, to dispel his anger, she suppressed her tiredness and spoke to him passionately, even though he didn't respond at all. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Mayra fell asleep unconsciously as they were approaching their destination. She was leaning against the car window uncomfortably, so she shifted her body and leaned on Anderson's arm.
He sensed her movement and slowly retracted his hand. Then, he let her sleep on his lap and took off his suit jacket to cover her exposed legs.
After an hour, they arrived at their destination. When Shane noticed the staff nearby, he got out of the car and reminded them to leave momentarily so as not to disturb Mayra's sleep.
She awoke to find herself being held in Anderson's arms. Her eyes widened instantly when she noticed the purple lights behind him. "Andy, it's late now. Does the amusement park have no closing time?"
He scarcely felt her weight and could easily hold her with one arm. She curled up in his arms like a child. She could tell that he intended to celebrate her birthday with her.
Thinking about it carefully, she realized he hadn't had a complete meal with her in three years. That was when Anderson returned to the Barlows. Mayra had spent the last three years alone.
But this time, she couldn't understand why he brought her here today. He had already disregarded her, after all. He responded, "What do you think?"
Mayra rested her chin on Anderson's shoulder, muttering inwardly. His greatest superpower was money. As long as he had money, he could reopen a closed amusement park for her.
She had no idea he would suddenly return from Candor City to celebrate her birthday. She assumed he had already forgotten it. Thinking about it, she swiftly got off him and said, "I can leave by myself."
Anderson placed Mayra down and entered the foreign-style castle. The manager was the only person present in the empty hall and received them.
The manager said, "Welcome, Mr. Barlow and Ms. Sadler. The restaurant is ready. You're now free to go upstairs and dine."
Anderson grasped Mayra's hand and entered the elevator. She felt disturbed as she glanced at their joined hands. She was not hungry at all. When the elevator arrived at the top floor, she was shocked to see everything in front of her.
