Chapter 408
Edward would find it hard even to defeat Julian. If he had to go against an elite grandmaster like Lorenzo, trying to escape would probably be his only option.
"So, it's Mr. Hollister. Why didn't you tell us that you were coming to Phaedra Island? We would have shown you our hospitality." Edward and the others hastily bowed.
When faced with an expert of Lorenzo's level, they could not be sure of defeating him even if the three of them joined forces. They had no choice but to humble themselves.
Lorenzo laughed and said, "I don't like being given special treatment. What happened just now was due to my lack of discipline. I hope you won't hold it against me, Mr. York."
Bradley was inwardly displeased, but he had no choice. He said, "I lost my temper when I saw my son being humiliated and overreacted a little. Please forgive me for my inappropriate behavior."
"I can understand how you feel. However, it's supposed to be a battle to the death, so it should be fair. Otherwise, we might as well just have a brawl, and there would be no need for any kind of battle. Do you agree, everyone?" Lorenzo asked.
Naturally, Bradley could not say anything to that.
"Mr. Hollister, you didn't just come to Phaedra Island for fun, did you?" Edward asked warily.
Lorenzo smiled and said, "This is my son, Gideon Hollister. This is my precious daughter, Elsa Hollister. Come and say hello to the heads of the families."
"Hello Mr. York, Mr. Lynch, and Mr. Lennon." Gideon and Elsa came up to greet them. However, they stood ramrod straight and looked extremely arrogant. They clearly had no sense of respect at all.
The three heads of families were very displeased, but there was nothing that they could say.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Lorenzo continued, "My children are perfect in every way, except for the fact that they're a little too confident. In fact, one could say that they are a little arrogant. I heard that there are many talented people in Phaedra Island, so I brought them here to see that there's always someone better than you out there."
Edward laughed and said, "Well, they're young. It's understandable for them to be a little arrogant. You don't need to worry about that, Mr. Hollister."
"Oh, you can't say that. Those who are arrogant are sure to bring trouble upon themselves. I've got to let them experience some difficulties in life.
"Why don't we let the young talents of Phaedra Island have a friendly competition with them? They can learn a lesson at the same time," Lorenzo said, finally revealing the reason why he had come.
Gideon said snobbishly, "Father, I've already seen them. The younger people on Phaedra Island only have average skills. If you want them to teach me a lesson, I'm afraid that you'll be disappointed."
Elsa nodded in agreement. "Gideon is right. These people are only of average standard. They probably don't even have the courage to face the two of us in battle."
The people of Phaedra Island were immediately incensed at what they had said.
"These two are much too cocky! How could they say that we're just average? They're mean!" "That's right! Flynn and Luke are the experts of the younger generation, and there's also Jeremiah, who's the best among all of them! Any of them could defeat the Hollisters and get their heads spinning so much that they won't be able to find their way home." The crowd nodded in agreement.
Luke, Jeremiah, and the others looked angry.
However, this made the Hollister siblings even more disdainful. Their contemptuous smiles infuriated the crowd.
Lorenzo pretended to scold them. "How could the two of you speak that way? Even if it's true, you can't say it like that. What about their pride and dignity? Besides, perhaps there really is someone who can teach you a lesson."
The Phaedra Islanders were furious. How could they be so condescending?
Edward and the others looked very grim. Lorenzo was obviously here to humiliate them. They could not stand for it!
"If that is so, let them have a friendly match. You can show these young rascals how accomplished your children are," Julian said angrily.
The tension grew between them, and the atmosphere was very hostile.
Up on the Destiny Stage, Sebastian was exasperated. He had been planning to take the opportunity to get rid of Luke, but Lorenzo and his party had cut in out of nowhere and ruined Sebastian's plan.
Of course, this wasn't necessarily a disadvantage to him. If they started battling it out together, so much the better for Sebastian.
