Nelly’s POV.
I lay in bed, | knew | needed to do something, anything, to take my mind from things. So, | pushed myself up and out of bed, walking out of my room.
The house was quiet, the only sound my footsteps made as | made my way down the hall. | wasn’t sure where | was going, but | just knew I had to move, had to do something.
As | turned a corner, | slammed into a hard chest, my head hitting something solid and warm. | looked up, meeting the steely gaze of Kex. His hands were bleeding, the blood staining his clothes.
“Jeez, what happened?” | asked, my eyes widening.
But he didn’t answer, his expression hard and unreadable. | looked him up and down, my gaze resting on his hands again. | was struck by how different he seemed, how cold. and closed off.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
| took him by the arm and dragged him to his room, grabbing a first aid kit from the bathroom. | sat him down and began to tend to his wounds, trying to get him to tell me what had happened. But he remained silent, his eyes fixed on the floor.
“Kex, please talk to me,” | begged. “I just want to know what happened.”
But he didn’t say a word, his face set in stone. | sighed, continuing to clean his wounds. as he sat there, silent and still. Yet then, he grabbed my wrists, gently but firmly, pulling my hands away.
“Leave it,” he said, his voice low and commanding.
| looked at him, my eyebrows raised in surprise. “Kex, let me clean the wound,” | insisted. But he ignored me, repeating, “Leave it.”
| was about to protest, but then he growled, his eyes flashing. | was taken aback by his sudden display of anger, and | took my hands back, putting the first aid kit down.
I stood up, my eyes still fixed on Kex. “What the hell is going on?” | demanded, my voice shaking. But he didn’t reply, his expression still cold and unreadable. “Kex, talk to me,” | begged, my frustration mounting.
“Just leave, | want to be all by myself,” he said in a firm voice.

“| won't leave you like this.” | stood my ground, determined to help him, even if he didn’t want my help.
He was silent, his eyes fixed on some point beyond me. | could feel the tension in the. air, thick and heavy, and | felt a lump forming in my throat.
“Kex, tell me what’s wrong? Why all this attitude?” | asked him, my voice quivering.
Finally, he looked up at me, his eyes meeting mine. | saw a flash of sadness in his eyes, a raw vulnerability that | hadn't expected. And then, slowly, he held out his hands to me, the wounds raw and bleeding.
| knelt down beside him, gently taking his hands in mine. | began to dress the wounds, working slowly and carefully, all the while watching his face. He was silent, his expression unreadable. But | could feel a shift in the air, a slight softening of his posture.
When | was finished, | stood up and put the first aid kit back in the bathroom. | pulled out a chair and sat in front of Kex, watching him closely.
“Did your mate hurt you?” | blurted out, unable to contain my curiosity. He looked at me, his expression surprised.
“Why would you ask something like that?” he asked, his voice filled with confusion.
“Because you're acting like someone who’s been betrayed, and | don’t understand it,” 1 said, my words blunt and honest. He let out a long, tired sigh and sank down onto the bed, his back against the headboard.
“It's not that she betrayed me,” he said, his voice heavy. He stared up at the ceiling, his eyes distant and sad. “But she’s in love with someone else,” he said, his voice breaking slightly.
My heart sank, and | felt a rush of sympathy for him. “That’s terrible,” | said, my words. barely more than a whisper. “That's so bad, Kex.” He said nothing, but he let his hands fall to his face, hiding his eyes.
“Is she going to reject you?” | asked, my voice quiet.
| knew rejection was a painful thing, something | was still struggling to move on from. | knew Astel had moved on, but | wondered if Carl had moved on as well. | looked up at Kex, who was staring at me, his eyes unreadable.
“| don’t know,” he said, his voice heavy with sadness. “I don’t know if | can take
rejection.”

The thought of him being rejected made my heart ache. | wanted to reach out to him, to tell him it would be okay, but | wasn’t sure if that was true.
| stood up from my chair and sat down beside him on the bed, taking his hands in
mine.
“Trust me,” | said, my voice soft but firm. “She won’t reject you. Maybe she just needs some time to adjust. Try to be extra kind and patient with her. Show her the real you, the good side of you, not the ruthless Alpha Kex everyone seems to know.” | smiled at him, hoping to put him at ease.
He let out a small chuckle. “So you believe I’m ruthless too, huh?” he asked, a glint of amusement in his eyes.. | laughed. “Why wouldn't | believe it? That’s the reputation you have,” | said, teasing him a little.
“But | know you're not really ruthless. You just need to show your mate the softer side of you, the romantic side. She doesn’t know that side of you.” | traced my fingers across his chest, my touch gentle and light. He caught my hand, holding it in his hand.
“Whee romantic to you?” he asked, a small smirk on his face. “Why are you asking?” | asked, feigning curiosity. “Because | want to know what I can do to please my mate, so she can move on from her ex,” he said, his voice soft and serious.
| laughed. “You're being a little fast, don’t you think? You are already calling her boo, her ex,” | said, not meaning it in a hasty manner.
He laughed along with me, shaking his head. “You're right, you’re right. Okay, fine. Now answer my question,” he said, grinning. “Not all ladies are the same. Her preference might be different from mine,” | said, playing with the buttons on his shirt. “Hmm,” he hummed in response.
| nodded, and he was quiet for a moment. | looked up at him, his expression difficult to read. But he was still so handsome, even with the troubled look on his face. He was looking hot, like a sex god.
| couldn't believe his mate didn’t see that. | wasn’t even aware | was leaning in until | felt his lips on mine. | gasped in surprise, but he didn’t pull away. He kissed me back, his lips soft and warm.
