Chapter 44

Elise’s POV

After Kaide’s words, I was left still thinking about his proposal for a date. I contemplated it, still confused and distracted After a while, I decided to leave the room to clear my thoughts.

As soon as I walked out of the back rooms, I heard a call to my name: “Elise!” I turned to hear a relieved sigh as I saw Vienna running towards me.

I could see she was in haste after being told what happened here as she looked worried. Her hands touched my body carefully, looking for any signs of hurt.

“Oh moons, Elise!” She exclaimed, and right behind her were Bellamy and Hana. Vienna immediately lunged at me to pull me into a tight hug. “Are you alright? I heard from Bell what happened–those bastards!” She muttered, echoing her anger.

“I’m fine. I am,” Lassured her. I looked over to Bella, who looked like she was crying in worry and saw there was no permanent harm done by Zach’s attack.

“And I’m glad that you’re safe, Bell,” I said to her.

me. I took a look at her face

“You are the one that we should be worried about; I can’t believe you fought Zach and his minions and won the whole damn thing!” She said in awe.

I looked down at her hand to see it was entwined with Hana’s, and I could tell they were more than friends, and she was Bellamy’s partner.

It must have been obvious that I was staring as Bellamy laughed, raising their hands. “It was rites night; my wolf won’t be feral, and I liked and chose her that night, and she returned my feelings, and the rest is history,” she explained

Just like how Rygan came in search of me that night, I still remember his heated embrace, how his length had enlarged in me, taking me over and over again, and how my body and mind shattered for him with those feral and primal words he had spoken while he made love to me under the moonlight. But it was all history since he has Alvira now,

“I’m glad you found each other, I muttered. Vienna, on the other hand, was watching me quietly, her gaze moving to my Mill–bloodied hands covered with Kaide’s blood.

“Can you give me and Elise time to talk? I promise I’ll be home soon,” she told the pair. And they both nodded as they left minutes later, leaving Vienna and me at the door.

Vienna took my hand, leading me back into the room as she searched for a towel with warm water and cleaned. my hands quietly, the worry lines on her temple showing so vivid and anxious. I was worrying like an older sister that I never had.

“Look, as much as I’m proud of you that you stood up for yourself, I am worried; I was worried so much,” she said frantically.

“It’s fine; nothing happened.” I said, but I could tell she could read that something happened. At this point, it wasn’t surprising that she could read me so easily.

“What about Kaide’s wounds? Is he okay?” She asked, and of course Bellamy must have mentioned that when she told Vienna about Kaide being hurt.

“I healed him, and he knows now; I panicked and showed him my powers; I used them to heal him; I couldn’t take the blood and decided to try since I wounded him,” I said to Vienna, who listened in surprise

“But we can trust Kaide, he is the commander of this pack, and he will keep it a secret till I’m ready to tell it.” I will explain.

“How about Alpha Rygan?” She asked me. And my heart skipped a beat, but I shook my head in reply, not yet, because he would worry and fuss too much, and I’d pretty much like to avoid him.

I hate how much he affects my wolf and makes me want to feel taken care of. I didn’t want to feel that way, and I didn’t want to lose myself to his touch again

“U–um ok.. I mean, I can’t control you or tell you who your powers shoill be hidden from: I mean, I found out by accident. and

I swear I won’t tell. A lot of people will want you if words spread out, both inside and outside the pack, she warned.

“I know, I mean, there is a bounty on my head the moment I leave this pack. I know the consequences, but I still want to heal and help people, just like you do. I explained to her.

The worried lines on her face finally vanished from her temples as she gave me a pat on the hands, silently assuring me that my choice was okay. My choice and no one else’s.

“And don’t worry, Kaide gave me a stern punishment to clean the arena for fighting

“You have it off easy, with the way Zach is being punished, he won’t ever start a fight with you again. I mean, not when Kaide shows his affection so clearly,” she said to me. I couldn’t help the slight blush when recalling his words,

“And it seems something else happened in that room with both of you together in it?” She said it with a smug, knowing look. and I knew I was caught. I sputtered out words that couldn’t come out like a deer caught in headlights.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

“I mean, after I healed him and cleaned him up, he kind of asked me for a date. I answered, “I don’t know why he is still adamant about going out with me when a dozen girls are swarming around him.

I still couldn’t understand why he was interested in me; wasn’t he afraid of what Rygan would say? I don’t think he is.

“You are just as amazing and even more special, and I’m sure he is captivated by you, and it’s good to hear such news, and haven’t you wanted a way to distance yourself from him?” She asked, and I knew exactly who she was talking about.

I walked away from the table and to the windows, and here the sun was rising. “I mean, yes, but why?”

“Just try once; you can say no; it’s not a proposal to mate with you but just courting!” She exclaimed, and it seemed more enticing the more she talked.

It was a perfect option, and Kaide had always been a gentleman to me, so of course I should choose him.

_right?

I walk back to the moon house after spending the afternoon in Vienna’s company and helping at the clinic. I made sure I found a way to avoid Rygan because I knew he would have heard what happened at the arena.

I walk into the moon house, into the brightly lit hallway, only to freeze at the last minute when I see who is walking over to me. It’s Rygan and Kaide side by side. They looked like they were in a hurry, but both stopped as soon as they noticed me.

With the way Rygan’s eyes scanned over me, Kaide’s must have told him a bit of what happened, but that didn’t stop that heated gaze that always set me on fire to stop his glance at me.

Rygan’s face immediately turned to one of worry, and I knew if I didn’t do anything, he was going to dote over me again.

But the pain of him having a family soon with someone who wasn’t me still struck something painful in me. Vienna’s advice struck me like a cord, and it became like an epiphany at that moment.

Maybe it was my turn to be happy, or a part of me wanted Rygan to be jealous and see what he was losing with me. I rid myself of those thoughts. I can do this, I mutter to myself

Before I square up my shoulders and march towards them with my head raised high and both of the males‘ attention on me. *we need to talk now, El Rygan sends through the bond. Despite my pounding heart after hearing his voice, I block him out, walking towards Kaide with a mission. I stay on my tippy toes, using Kaide’s shoulder as balance, connecting our lips in front of Rygan.

By the line of my vision, I see the rage rise in Rygan’s expression and the shock of my action toward Kaide, who also froze as I kissed him.

I take a step back to see both Rygan and Kaide stunned as I look back at Kaide, with my answer forming on my lips.

“Yes… I accept you.”
