Chapter 154: Labor
Killian's POV
The night air was cold and still, as I paced anxiously outside Giselle's room. For months, she had been confined within those walls, never allowed to set foot outside until the time of her labour arrived.
I could hear the commotion inside the agonizing cries of Giselle as she fought to bring her child into the world filled the whole Packhouse.
With every push she makes, she gives a painful cry.
The Doctor had warned me beforehand that I should move Giselle to the hospital so she could have proper labour. However, I objected and told them to do the labour in her room instead. This made it difficult for all of them.
I watched as the omegas rushed in and out of the room, carrying towels, basins of water, and all the manner of supplies the doctor would need. If we were at the hospital, everything would have been prepared for the labour. I took my words seriously when I said she would be confined in this room until she gave birth.
My heart raced with each laboured breath, each guttural scream that pierced the silence of the night. There is that possibility that the child is mine.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
It was in the middle of the night, I was supposed to be asleep right now, but I rushed here when I heard that Giselle was finally having labour so I could be there to support her.
However, the doctor prohibited me from entering the room to watch as Giselle gave labour. It was cramped inside, and there was no more space for me.
Giselle has sensitive labour, and the doctors had to place all their focus and attention on her. I will only be a distraction if I go in there.
So, I anxiously paced back and forth outside as the minutes crawled by like hours, each second an eternity.
I clenched my fists as I fought the urge to barge in and abuse my authority.
Finally, after what felt like a lifetime, a different sound pierced the air - the unmistakable cry of a newborn.
My heart leapt out of my chest when I heard the baby's cries... my baby's first cry.
Giselle had quieted down now that she had successfully given birth.
I turned to my men, who had stood vigil with me through the long night. I must not forget what I had to do here.
I swung my head, giving them the signal. As one, they surged forward, throwing open the door to Giselle's room.
"My baby! My baby!" Giselle cried out once again, her voice filled with a mother's fierce love and worry towards her newborn child.
My men emerged, cradling the tiny bundle in their arms, who was still crying as if he knew he was taken from his mother.
I took a quick look at the child. It's indeed a son, a little boy, just as the doctor had said he was going to be.
"Go and have him tested," I commanded after my eyes had drunk at the sight of what could possibly be my child.
"My baby! Don't take my baby!" Giselle hysterically shouted.
I shouted when she suddenly emerged out of her room to chase after her son while she was still covered with her sweat and blood.
"Giselle!" I called her name as I blocked her path and stopped her, making her fall to the ground.
She raised her arms to go after her child. She tried to push me away, so I hugged her to stop her.
"My baby! Where are you taking him?!" She cried out loud, tears streaming down from her eyes.
"Calm down, Giselle," I demanded to bring her back to her senses. She had just given birth. She should be resting.
"What are you going to do to my baby!" Giselle yelled at me and gave me weak punches.
I grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her to knock her some senses My face softened when
saw how pale and weak she looked. Giselte had a long labour, making her lose so much blood.
"Alpha!" The doctors finally came out.
"Take her and sedate her," I commanded them.
"No! No!" Giselle used all of her last strength to escape. "Give me back my child!"
The two omegas came forward to hold back Giselle. Giselle had become so weak that she couldn't even free herself from the two omegas's hold.
I watched as the Doctor prepared the syringe and injected her.
As the needle pierced her skin, Giselle's body went rigid, every muscle tensing. Then, slowly, I saw the fight leave her.
Her eyelids drooped, her arms falling limp at her sides as her knees buckled beneath her.
The omegas holding her tightened their grip, shifting to wrap their arms around her waist, supporting her weight as the sedative took hold.
Giselle's head lolled to the side, a soft sigh escaping her lips. Carefully, reverently, they lifted Giselle's limp form, cradling her as they carried her back to her room.
I followed close behind, feeling surprised when I saw the mess inside the room. I watched as the last vestiges of her consciousness slipped away, replaced by the
peaceful calm of sleep.
I had no choice but to take her child away as soon as she gave birth to have the DNA test done.
I need to know the truth as soon as possible.
