Chapter 101
Chapter 101
The report only took up a small newspaper section, with a photograph attached. In the photos, none of the corpses were in good condition. Almost all of them were unrecognizable, alluding to their tragic death.
Mikayla couldn’t tell if they were the ones from that night, but she counted and found that the number of corpses matched. She wondered if it was Carlos‘ doing.
Before she could think about it, there was a knock on the door. “Come in!” Mikayla said, folding the newspaper and putting it aside.
Quinnlyn opened the door while holding a stack of documents. She informed Mikayla, “Mr. Salvatore asked you to attend the board meeting.”
“Okay!” Mikayla responded. She stood up, walked around the desk, and headed to the conference room.
The temporary board meeting was set up on Monday to check their department’s work. However, Mikayla asked for leave yesterday, so it was changed to today.
When Mikayla arrived, everyone on the board of directors sat in their seats as if they were waiting.
“Mikayla, it’s not convenient for you with your injured foot. You can report on your work while sitting,” said Jorge.
Everyone looked at Mikayla’s movements and didn’t object.
Quinnlyn, who followed Mikayla, put the documents she photocopied that morning in front of each shareholder.
Mikayla sat at the end of the table and went straight to the point. She announced, “This is the previous investigation report. It’s confirmed that someone deliberately hired the media to target us. It’s still unclear who it was.”
In the end, she left Huxley a leeway. If he repented and took over Salvatore Group someday, she didn’t want what happened today to bring him
trouble.
Everyone was silent, and only Mikayla’s resolute voice echoed in the conference room.
The shareholders looked at the detailed report on the document, and no one doubted it. After all, social investigation wasn’t their profession. However, it seemed that someone really wanted to disturb Salvatore Group.
“So, I’ll do my best to reach the goal in the short time we have left, and I hope you will all cooperate! Don’t doubt my ability anymore. At the same time, I hope that our shareholders present can give us more encouragement! That’s what motivates us to keep going!” Mikayla concluded. It also made the shareholders realize that trust was more useful than questioning at this time.
After reporting on the previous incident, Mikayla began to talk about the work progress.
“At present, our department has sent Maxius to negotiate with two manufacturers. If possible, several units will be put into trial production first. For the sake of confidentiality, except for our department, only the board of directors present knows our specific progress. So, please keep this a secret. Of course, apart from the progress, other details cannot be disclosed to everyone for now. Please understand!” stated Mikayla.
The board of directors listened to Mikayla’s report and

oked quite satisfied.
“I think there’s no need to have a board meeting every Monday before we go into production. Just let Mikayla’s department focus on their work,” said Jorge.
Mikayla looked at Jorge gratefully. That would inde
reduce their workload a lot.
“I agree! Now that everything is progressing, having a weekly meeting is like parents checking their child’s homework. This is also a burden on their workload,” seconded Arlan.
“Yes! I used to come here once a month, but now I come here once a week. My old body can’t bear it. I think Mikayla’s working attitude is credible!” Gavin agreed.
In the end, it was decided that Mikayla would report on her work once a month as before. This was decided through voting, with four people voting for it and two against it. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Shawn felt Mikayla was getting even more arrogant as she had convinced the people in the board meeting. He angrily left with Graham.
The other shareholders left the conference room one after another until only Jorge and Mikayla remained.
Jorge sat in the chairman’s seat, looked at Mikayla, who was sitting at the end of the table opposite him, and said, “Your uncle and his family didn’t make trouble again. Did you deal with it?” He had wanted to ask Mikayla before but hadn’t said anything since she was injured.
Mikayla didn’t deny it and nodded.
“That’s good!” Jorge said. He didn’t know what method Mikayla used but was glad Huxley had stopped. Jorge was reluctant to go to court against his brother.
“But this may not last long,” said Mikayla as she stacked the papers together.
“Hmm… Let’s observe Huxley’s actions for a while,” replied Jorge.
Seeing Jorge’s expression, Mikayla could guess what he was thinking. However, the outcome might disappoint Jorge. She also understood Jorge’s feelings and hoped that Huxley would change.
However, changes couldn’t occur overnight. Huxley was already deeply influenced by Logan, and it was impossible for him to change anytime soon. She had also given Huxley many chances.
Hopefully, Huxley would cherish this last chance. Otherwise, she would be merciless as this involved Salvatore Group’s future.
The company was something that generations of her family had devoted their lives to and was also Jorge’s hard work for most of his life. Everything would be for naught if it were passed down to Huxley according to tradition. Mikayla would go against tradition if that happened.
When Mikayla returned to her office after the board meeting ended, she saw Carlos sitting lazily on the couch in the office with a cup of steaming coffee. It seemed that he had just arrived.
That explained the gazes on her when she returned to her department. She thought it was because she was limping slightly, but it turned out it was because of Carlos.
She checked the time and found that it was only 11:30 a.m.
“I was afraid you’d be hungry, so I came earlier,” Carlos said, putting his hand on the couch’s armrest and leaning against it. His gaze stayed glued on Mikayla since her arrival, and he looked extremely charming.
Mikayla looked away and saw a packed lunch on the square table next to her. Although she wasn’t hungry before, she was now hungry after seeing the packed lunch.
“You’re not eating?” Mikayla asked. She put the document on the desk, approached the table, and carefully studied the pink lunch box. The portion looked only enough for her.
“I have a business meal later. I’ll leave after you eat,” Carlos replied. He sat up and walked over.
Mikayla opened the lunch box. It contained an exquisite home–cooked dish she favored and a nutritious pork stew. She wondered if these dishes were beneficial for her recovery.
Carlos handed the fork to her, asking, “What do you want to eat tomorrow? I’ll ask the chef at home to make it for you.”
Mikayla looked at him confusedly.
“The Ludwig family’s chef made these. Our chef is on leave,” Carlos explained casually. His mansion was being renovated, so the chef had to take a leave.
Mikayla looked at the dishes and thought, ‘No wonder they look familiar!’
