Chapter 24 What Had Gone Wrong?
The moon shone gently into the window as Eileen walked downstairs in her pajamas.
She rarely got out of bed in the middle of the night, but wanted a drink of water and saw that her flask was empty.
Eileen bumbled down the stairs blearily, and got a fright at the black figure on the couch.
“Ahh!” She woke up at once.
The person on the couch got to his feet, turning the light on..
The brightness made Eileen squint, making out who it was.
“Eric? What are you doing here? Why didn’t you go home?”
The living room smelt faintly of alcohol. It was coming from Eric.
Was he back from a night of networking again?
Also… what was he doing here, instead of going home to Vera?
Eileen and Eric had been married for eight years, but she had no idea this time what he was
up to.
Eric stumbled over to her, getting closer.
Eileen was right in front of a wall, and there was nowhere she could run.
Eric walked right up to her. He glanced at the girl in front of him, and her flushed chest.
It was a brief glance, but Eileen still caught the glint in his
eyes.
The way his breathing was rushed.
This was the kind of gaze that had the power to break Eileen.
She knew that Eric was not the kind of person to sleep around.
At least, not before what happened to Vera.
Eric had lost himself in alcohol and sex after Vera’s death, and had had a good deal of
women,
Eileen knew that with Will around now, Eric would never dare to do much to her.

Her pupils trembled, and she tried to fake being oblivious so she could run.
Yet Eric stuck out an arm and held himself up against the wall, blocking her off completely.
Eileen’s chest lurched, her pulse racing.
“Eric… Eric… is there anything you need?”
Her pulse was increasing by the second. His gaze seemed to bore into her, piercing through her no matter how hard she tried to avoid it.
His presence was overwhelming.
He also recked of alcohol, making Eileen squirm uncomfortably.
Eric pushed a lock of Eileen’s hair behind her car. “Eileen, have I done anything wrong recently to upset you?”
“N-no…”
Eileen’s arms were pressed to the wall, her hands balled into fists as she kept her head bowed.
“Is that so? But… why does it feel like you’re avoiding me,
“Is it because of Vera?”
mmm?”
Eric leaned forwards. All he had to do was look down, and he would be able to see all of Eileen under her thin pajamas.
He had seen it too, her waist that night.
And everything else as well…
To tell the truth, she was gorgeous and breathtaking. God knows how many men she would. conquer as she grew older.
Eileen said softly, I’ve known from the start that it was Vera you liked… I didn’t know any better before, but I do now. That’s why I think it’s better we keep a distance from each other, so Vera doesn’t think
anything’s going on between us.”
“Look up at me.” Eric said in a firm tone.
Eileen was still terrified of him, two lifetimes later.
She raised her head, her gaze pitiful and sad.
The way she looked only made Eric want to play with her even more!

He looked back at her, staring into her soul.
For some reason, his gaze felt gentle to her.
That was how Eric was supposed to look at Vera
He only looked cold, disgusted and angry at Eileen…
He had never been like this before…
What had gone wrong?
She had done nothing.
“Vera would be really happy to know you’ve been thinking so generously for her. What about you, then? Do you have a crush on Jasper Smithi
“Huh?” Eileen was confused and shocked. What did Jasper have to do with any of this?
Also, was Eric on something today?
Why was he acting so strangely?
Eric looked at her wordlessly, waiting for a reaction from her. He let go all of a sudden, backing up as his gaze went back to cold and cutting again. As if everything just now had been in Eileen’s head.
“Nothing!”
Eileen heaved a sigh of relief. She was about to escape at last, but at the very last second-
Her wrist was grabbed by a scorching hand. “Eric… what’s the matter? What else do
you
want?”
“I’m hungry. Make me some pasta.”
“Huh?”
She hadn’t learnt how to cook yet.
Besides, Eric knew that she was terrible at it. She might blow up the kitchen just frying ant egg
Before she could turn him down, Eric had turned away and returned to the couch to rest.
From the way he reeked of alcohol, it seemed like he had been drinking quite a bit indeed.
Eileen headed to the kitchen with no other choice. She opened the fridge, taking out

vegetables and two eggs.
Eric liked drinking on an empty stomach, and not having breakfast the next morning. That was how he messed up his stomach.
He was, after all, her brother now.
She just hoped that he would be able to go easy on her when he took revenge on the Swans, on the account that she had made him noodles before.
Eric looked at her busying herself in the kitchen. For some reason, it felt like his wife was cooking for him.
This was definitely his first time watching Eileen cook, but he felt like he had seen it. countless times before.
Eileen made him a simple bowl of noodles. Sharon had made the dough earlier today, and there was some left over.
Eileen was not trying to do anything extra, she just wanted him to stop looking at her.
She boiled the noodles, putting in the vegetables a few minutes after and frying an egg-
Aside from seasoning, Eileen added a little chili oil as well…
That would make it taste better.
Eileen yanked her apron higher, bringing the noodles to Eric. She was not wearing a bra, and it definitely showed.
She was embarrassed, but there was not much she could do.
“Here you go, Eric.” Eileen put the noodles on the table, looking at the man on the couch with his eyes closed.
Was he asleep?
Eileen walked over to him. “Eric, wake up…”
He did not react.
Eileen reached out to shake him, when Eric’s foot moved.
Eileen tripped, losing her balance and keeling over onto him.
She fell onto him completely, hearing him grunt in mild pain. sevirdi Allard her lips, and Eileen opened her eyes to the sight of Eric’s passionate gazeContent bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
