Rebirth In Divorce: My New Mr. Perfect

Divorce 169

Chapter 169

The crying was coming from the bushes nearby. Yasmine frowned slightly and slowly walked over. Could someone have abandoned a baby here?

As she slowly approached the bushes, the crying grew louder. When she got close and looked, her pupils shrank in shock. There wasn't a baby at all-it was just a tape recorder! Suddenly, she felt a cold sensation on her back, followed by a sharp pain at the back of her head, and she lost consciousness.

When Yasmine woke up again, she realized she was tied up, surrounded by darkness and the musty smell of mold. The pain at the back of her head was still intense, and she even wondered if she was bleeding. Had she been kidnapped again? By whom?

Suddenly, a blinding light turned on, making Yasmine close her eyes. Laughter echoed in her ears, arrogant and manic. "Yasmine, you wretched woman!" It was Helen's voice. "Helen, you kidnapped me?" Yasmine demanded.

A gentle laugh followed. "You're really out of luck this time, but don't worry. As long you go."

Yasmine wasn't listening to her words; she was scanning her surroundings. There was nothing there-it looked more like an abandoned old house. The table was half-decayed, and even the chair she was tied to reeked of dampness. "At a time like this, you still dare to ignore me! Yasmine, you insolent, shameless woman! It's such a pity they haven't seen your true colors yet!" Helen scolded.

The creaky sound echoed like an old wooden door being opened, and in walked a man with a mischievous grin on his face. "Wow, this lady's pretty good-looking. I bet you didn't just have me kidnap her for the money, right?" Dalton chuckled. Helen tilted Yasmine's chin up and sneered, "Look at that face. She's nothing but a tramp, a real vixen. Once we get the money, you can do whatever you want with her

"Can't I do it now?" Dalton leered at Yasmine.

Listening to these humiliating words, Yasmine felt her heart sink. She spoke coldly, "Helen, do you dare to kill me?"

"What do you mean?" Helen asked impatiently.

"If you let him touch me, I won't spare you. Unless I'm dead, it'll be you who pays the price. You know I can make it happen," Yasmine said calmly, her eyes fixed firmly on Helen. Helen slapped her across the face. "You wretch! Are you threatening me?"

"Whether it's a threat or not, why don't you try and see? You've messed with me several times, and I only let you go last time because of your grandpa. Do you really think you'll get another chance?" Yasmine retorted.

Dalton watched them with displeasure, and glared at Yasmine. "Do you really think she controls your fate? What I intend to do is my own business. She's still at my mercy-talking to her won't change a thing!" "Didn't you already hear? What I told her applies to you, too," Yasmine said.

Dalton and Helen exchanged a glance. "Right now, I just want money. With the money, everything else can be figured out."

"How much do you want?" Yasmine asked.

16.5 million." Dalton replied bluntly.

Yasmine glanced at Helen softly. "I'll give it to you. If you go to my brother, he might not give it to you and could even hand you over to the police. But I have the money, and I can give it to you."

Dalton was already regretting asking for too little, but it was too late. He was fed up with this life; he wanted the money so he could leave the country immediately. He thought for a moment and then said, "Okay," "Dalton, what are you even saying? Don't be fooled by her. She's nothing but a tramp!" Helen cursed.

Yasmine said in a somber tone, "But there's a condition. Seeing her makes me sick. Record a video for me, and I'll give you the money; otherwise, I'd rather die."

"Dalton, don't forget who helped you find her!" Helen screamed.

Yasmine completely ignored her. "So, how about it? 16.5 million for a video. Once I'm out of here, I won't hold you accountable for kidnapping me."

"Don't trust her! She's playing you! If Yonas and Morgan find out, do you think they'll ever let you go?" Helen's face turned pale. She was scared that Dalton would be swayed by her words, and even more afraid that their hard-won escape would be pulled back into the mire. "It's not impossible..." Dalton turned to look at Helen, keenly considering the offer. He was only interested in the money; it didn't matter who gave it to him.

"Dalton! Think it through! What if you agree to her terms and she doesn't give you a cent? It's better to contact her brother now, grab the 16.5 million and get out of the country, where it's safer!" Helen tried desperately to persuade Dalton. As she was speaking, Dalton had already loosened the ropes binding Yasmine.

Yasmine stretched her limbs and shot a fierce look at Helen. "Where's my bag?"

Dalton tossed her bag over, and Yasmine rummaged through it to pull out her checkbook. She wrote a check, "The video."

Helen looked at the two of them in horror, taking several seconds before she snapped out of it and dashed towards the door with all her might. But she was just a girl, and before she could even get out, she was caught. "Let me go! I'll give you money if you let me go, as much as you want," she cried, tears streaming down her face. But those hands holding her were like iron, and she couldn't break free.

"Shut up," Dalton said in a deep voice. He tied up Helen just like he had tied up Yasmine earlier. Dalton chuckled softly, pulling out a memory card from his pocket and handing it to Yasmine. "This has the video you want."

"Dalton! How could you? You've already taken my money!"

"Do you want to shoot it again?" Dalton growled menacingly.

Yasmine took the memory card, glanced at the two, and suddenly understood. She placed the card into her bag, having already given the check to Dalton. Meeting Helen's hate-filled gaze, she coldly commanded, "Rip her clothes apart!"

Dalton hesitated for a moment but then acted decisively. Amid Helen's screams, her clothes were torn to shreds, barely covering her. Yasmine left, and Dalton followed suit.

Half an hour later, Xavier burst in with bodyguards, kicking the door open to find Helen in a disheveled state. "Everyone out!" he ordered, and the bodyguards quickly retreated. Xavier draped his coat over Helen.

"Xavier, save me!" Helen sobbed miserably. More disturbing to her was the memory card Yasmine had taken, and whether Dalton had backups. She didn't know what Yasmine would do next, but she knew this time she wouldn't let her off lightly. Xavier, Yasmine's got something on me! Don't let her get away she pleaded, gripping Xavier's sleeve tightly.

"I..." How could she possibly tell him about that video? "You'll know when you get it back, but you can't let her take it." Helen's face was streaked with tears.

Xavier felt more and more uneasy, looking at her in confusion.
