Chapter 163

Helen's bank account still had some money, and with the 1.5 million Yvette was willing to lend her, she was still far from the 16.5 million she needed.

In the conference hall of Aurelith University, Yasmine sat in her seat facing the camera. The debate hadn't started yet. Carter and Winston had already reminded her several times, not to mention all the advice Lena had given her before. When the big screen lit up, Yasmine saw another conference room on the screen. The difference was that this one was filled with many judges. Among them, Yasmine immediately spotted Lena.

Yasmine was sitting alone in the conference room, with her thesis displayed on the computer in front of her. Before the defense began, she had already asked Lena to print out the thesis and distribute it to the judges on site. "You can start," one of the judges said.

Yasmine stood up and began to explain her thesis confidently.

In

the waiting area outside the conference room, Carter and Winston were waiting anxiously. "President, do you think Ms. Sanchez can secure a spot?" Winston asked.

Carter chuckled, "Mr. White, that's not a question for me. As a professor of psychology, you should know better than I do about the value of her thesis."

Winston, of course, understood. Across the entire thesis platform, no similar ideas had been proposed. Even Dekker considered it a groundbreaking advancement. However, her advancement depended on the outcome of this defense. The defense meeting lasted a whole three hours, from her initial proposal to the breakthrough points and finally to the conclusion. She thoroughly explained her thesis. The atmosphere of the defense was excellent, unlike the

simulated question sessions prepared by her school teachers. The judges turned it into more of a group discussion, much like a seminar.

After the defense session finally ended and the computer screen went dark, Yasmine let out a slow breath. She rubbed her eyes and finished off the water in her cup. For three hours, she hadn't even taken the time to drink, and her mouth felt parched. At the very end of it all, she noticed Lena discreetly giving her a thumbs-up. That was when she knew the defense was probably okay.

As soon as she opened the door, Carter and Winston approached her to ask about how it went. "How was it? They didn't throw any tricky questions at you, did they?"

Yasmine knew they were concerned about her and responded with a smile, "It went pretty well. The judges didn't ask any weird questions. They just discussed the model construction and data analysis methods with me. Nothing else really." Winston was beaming as he said, "I've heard about the Dekker Competition before. A defense usually takes about two hours, but yours lasted a whole three hours. That at least shows the judges were very interested in your thesis."

Carter gave her a pat on the shoulder. "Great job. Take a break and rest up today."

"Thank you, President," Yasmine said, not being modest about it. She needed to hurry back and take care of matters regarding Yoselin. There were exactly seven days until the defense results were announced, giving her the perfect amount of time to help Yoselin with Inner Peace Therapy. On the first day, Yoselin was locked in her room, lying quietly on the bed while staring at the white ceiling. Before she was shut in, Yasmine had a good talk with her, and only after getting her agreement did she proceed. Yoselin spent the entire day sleeping, and whenever she woke up, she quickly fell back asleep. The first day was easy to get through, and whenever she slept, Yasmine brought meals into the room.

On the second day, Yoselin began feeling restless, trying several times to get DramaBox

up from the bed, but the door was tightly locked, impossible for her to open. She knocked on the door in distress but got no response. Yasmine sat outside, the sound of Yoselin's s**bs behind her. She fought the urge to open the door.

5 "Come on, Yoselin," Yasmine said. She mused,

There were no more sounds from behind the door. Watching her phone screen, Yoselin sat on the floor, tears streaming down her face. Yasmine's fingers trembled, almost unlocking the door, but she remembered Eric's advice and put her hand back down. If even she couldn't hold on, how was Yoselin supposed to?

At noon, Yoselin dozed off again, and Yasmine took the chance to open the door and bring her food, dishes that Yoselin loved the most.

The third day. Today marks a turning point. For most patients undergoing Inner Peace Therapy, the first two days are tough, but on the third day, they

begin to change, transitioning from breakdowns to self-discovery, slowly digesting their emotions. Yasmine watched Yoselin on the monitor, not just recording her condition, but more importantly, preventing her from self-harm.NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

During the experiment at Soucrity Hospital, it was discovered that out of a hundred patients, twenty would start thinking of various ways to self-harm after breaking down, and after doing so, their condition would worsen.

Yoselin lay obediently on the bed, staring at her hands as if counting the lines on her palms. She mumbled something, but Yasmine couldn't hear what she said.

On the fourth day, an unexpected person showed up at the Sanchez residence -it was Irene. Yasmine opened the door and stood there, stunned, unsure of why she was there. She asked, "Ms. White?"

Irene handed her the fruit she was holding and smiled. "Ms. Sanchez, sorry for the sudden visit. I'm here to see Yoselin. Where is she?"

Chapter 163

Yasmine took the fruit and let her in. Pointing to Yoselin's room, she said, "Yoselin is not able to come out right now. I'm helping her with treatment, so she can't see anyone."

"Can't see anyone?" Irene looked doubtful. "Ms. Sanchez, Yoselin isn't a criminal. What kind of treatment stops her from seeing people?"

Yasmine explained, "Inner Peace Therapy is a common psychological intervention. We're in the first stage now, which is the absolute rest period. She cannot leave the bed or meet anyone.".

Irene looked at the surveillance footage in the living room, where Yoselin was hugging her knees and crying in agony, clearly looking broken. She pointed at the screen and questioned, "Ms. Sanchez, is this your therapy? Can't you see she's crying?" "This is an unavoidable stage and she must endure it." "I have reason to suspect you're intentionally mistreating Yoselin." She rushed over to open the door.

Yasmine said in a deep voice, "Ms. White, I'm treating Yoselin. If you let her out and she doesn't get better, will you take responsibility?"

Irene released her grip on the door handle and looked from the door to Yasmine. "Nathan would be heartbroken to see Yoselin like this, and so would Yonas..."

Yasmine replied coldly, "Then go ahead and tell them. Whether to keep Yoselin or not is their choice to make."

Irene was taken aback by Yasmine's assertiveness. The last time she saw her at the Russell residence, she seemed like a different person, but now she seemed more like her old self. "Ms. Sanchez, I'm only concerned about Yoselin." "I understand, but you should know I won't harm her. She will improve once the rest period is over."
