Chapter 1608
Chapter 1608
After Ashlynn was discharged from the hospital, she called Anne when she was alone in the room.
"Anne, are you alright? I heard you were taken by Tommy and were later saved by Anthony."
"Mmhmm. I'm fine. I've gotten home safely."
"That's wonderful," said Ashlynn.
Anne could tell that Ashlynn was not feeling alright, so she asked, "What's the matter? Are you not in a good mood?"
"I've found out about my parent's passing," said Ashlynn.
Anne was stunned. She found out?
"I'm sorry, Ashlynn. I've kept it hidden from you."
"It's fine. I know you're being considerate to me and the child.’ Ashlynn took a pause before asking again, "Was Tommy killed by you guys?"
"No. He fled the cruise ship back then. When we found him, he was already killed by somebody. His body was pulled up from the sea."
’Corentin was there as well, wasn't he?"
"That's right. Did he tell you that?"
Ashlynn's eyes looked emotionless. "Have you guys ever suspected Corentin?"
Anne immediately got so nervous that she did not even dare to make a sound.
"For example, Tommy's death. For example..." Ashlynn paused before she said, "My parents' death."
"Why would we?" Anne was in a great panic. She did not know why Ashlynn would suspect Corentin. "Did you find something out? If you don't, don't let your mind run wild.’
"Anne, he is not Corentin. He is Salvatore. I know him very well." Ashlynn had a catch in her throat, but she endured it to complete her sentence. "I thought he had changed, even if it was for the sake of the child..."
"Ashlynn, the investigation is still ongoing."
"That means you guys had suspected him a while ago, right?"
"It may be a misunderstanding." This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"There's no misunderstanding," said Ashlynn, then she immediately hung up the call.
When Anne tried to call her back, Ashlynn immediately turned off her phone.
Then, she walked downstairs listlessly.
When she saw Corentin coming out of the study, she said, "I want to have ravioli. Can you go get me some? You often bought it for me when we were in the slums back then."
"Alright. Have some milk first. I'll go get it now," Corentin said while he rubbed her hair.
Corentin brought her to the couch with his arms around her shoulders and made her sit down. Then, he asked the maids to warm up some milk before he went out to buy ravioli.
When Ashlynn heard the car leaving, she was very quiet. There was no anger and tears.
She finished the milk, and then she went to Corentin's study.
After she came out, she went straight to the balcony.
"I want a glass of water," she told the maid that was following closely behind her.
The maid saw her sitting down and was fine, so she went to pour her a glass of water.
Corentin had just gotten the ravioli when he received the call. After he heard what the other person said on the phone, he immediately returned to his mansion.
When he got out of the car, he saw Ashlynn sitting on the balcony with her feet dangling in the air. He was so scared that his heart almost stopped.
He quickly ran to the balcony, asking the maids to catch her downstairs.
"What are you guys doing? Use your bodies to catch her! If she fell and something happened to her, I'll kill all of you!"
The maids were so frightened that they went out and stood below the balcony.
Ashlynn had no expression as she looked at them. It was as if she had lost her soul.
"Ash, get down here. It's dangerous up there. Look, I bought ravioli for you."
Ashlynn turned back to look at him. "If you come any closer, I'll jump."
"What's the matter, Ash? Did I make you angry? It's my fault." Corentin was wearing an ingratiating smile.
"Do you think apologizing after you've killed the people would be useful?"
