Chapter 1538
Chapter 1538
Lucas’ emotions recovered very quickly. He did not look that surprised on the surface.
“It’s been a long time, Mr. Marwood,” he greeted him calmly.
He would not let their hostile relationship show on the surface and tear into him. It would look very bad on the two of them if he did that in broad daylight.
“You’re very disappointed, aren’t you?” Anthony said coldly, “Lucas, never mind that you’ve returned to the country, but you contacted my wife behind my back. Are you provoking me?
“You’re overthinking it. Anne and I are friends. We bumped into each other on the street, so we agreed to grab lunch sometime. It’s no big deal. You’re too uptight,” said Lucas.
Anthony’s face was as cold as frost. “Uptight? You’re an educator, but you don’t even know what’s the right thing to say?”
“I knew it was you who called when I was having coffee with Anne yesterday. I left beforehand because I thought it was better to have one less trouble. I didn’t expect that I still couldn’t avoid it.” Lucas’ gaze was hard to figure out. “You’re still the same as before. You still like to control Anne.”
Anthony’s expression was cold and sharp. “We don’t need an outsider like you to meddle
with this.”
Lucas suddenly asked, “Anthony, do you like Anne?”
Anthony’s black eyes darkened. “You’re out of line.”
“Am I? Since you’re here, let’s have a talk in a calm manner.” Lucas smiled faintly. “You actually do like her, don’t you? You like her body and her personality, but…that doesn’t include love.” Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
Anthony has a cold and vicious air to him. “How do you know that?”
“Haven’t you heard such a saying? Loving is having self-control but liking is wanting to possess the person. You belonged to the latter. Therefore, when you no longer find it fresh, Anne’s existence would no longer be important. Other women would appear by your side. By then, Anne would be very pitiful, and that would affect the triplets’ development. The consequences would be very severe.”
Anthony’s gaze was icy but he did not say anything.
“On the other hand, does Anne like you?” Lucas asked again, “If it wasn’t for the three children, she absolutely wouldn’t have appeared by your side. She did everything because
she had no choice. Anthony, you, too, know this very well, don’t you?”
Anthony’s hands, which were on his lap, were clenched into fists as if his fingers were spasming, and they trembied a little.
However, no emotions were showing on his face at all.
“If you truly love her, you should let her go and let her meet the children whenever she wants, instead of trapping her, who’s forcing herself to compromise, by your side,” said Lucas.
“How do you know that she’s forcing herself to compromise? You were right. Only I know best if she was willing or not.” Anthony stood up. “Don’t contact her in private anymore in the future or I’ll completely destroy you.”
Upon saying that, he turned around and left.
Lucas’ expression darkened.
“Oh, yes.” Anthony stopped in his tracks. “She’s my wife. You should address her as Mrs. Marwood.”
Then, he walked off.
Lucas’ expression looked extremely terrible, and he was breathing hard, but he could only restrain himself.
He was not in a hurry. Anthony would lead himself to his own grave one day.
Besides, judging from what Anthony had said earlier, he would not be completely indifferent, would he?
Anthony walked out of the restaurant, got into the car, and loosened his tie by pulling it forcefully. His expression was cold, which made the entire car feel as cold as ice.
The driver’s back was so straightened as he was tensed up.
Indeed, Lucas’ words have affected him.
Anne did it for the children. She did everything for the children!
So what? No matter what, she was his wife. She would always be his wife in this life!
Who did Lucas think he is?
His thoughts were very domineering, but…his chest felt very tight and he could not breathe.
The veins on his forehead were popping and twisted.
Anne was playing with her phone while sitting on the couch. Her legs were bare and curled up. A little bit of light from outside was shining in. It was a leisurely time.
Her screen flashed a little. Someone was calling her.
