Chapter 49 Who understands her sadness

Chapter 49 Who understands her sadness

Adelaide felt out of breath. If the Swift family was here to cheat him out of his money, what made him

think it was her but not Clarissa!

He could distrust her, but why did he trust Clarissa!

After her father's death, she did not even have a single cent of shares of the Swift Group, but Clarissa

and her mother held shares account for most of the shares.

She was a pawn sent to Antonio to tide over the Swift Group’s difficulties, now the Swift family did not

need her, and she had become a discarded pawn.

“Antonio, will you stay with me?” She said!

‘Antonio, we had dinner together the other day, and you kissed me!’

‘Why in just a few days you are so cold?’ She wanted to explain that she and the Swift family were no

longer related, but before she could speak, his reprimand came, “Clarissa is your sister, she's sick and

you're still fooling around here?”

She bit her lips and took a few steps back. Seeing her desperate eyes, Antonio felt his tone was bad,

so he touched her head, “I will come back soon.”

Watching him stride away, Adelaide finally couldn't help but mutter, “Antonio, I am not related to the

Swift family.” Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

She did not want to make Antonio angry. He was right, in the eyes of outsiders she was still the

daughter of the Swift family, and she was Clarissa’s sister. Forget it, she would endured it for the sake

of her father. If it was because of her, the Swift Group was gone, she would be sorry for her father.

The next day, Antonio let Koby find some nearby places for excursions. He came to Adelaide's room,

and Adelaide was reading a book in the sofa. He frowned, why was she always reading a book?

He came to her, took the book away, squatted down and asked, “Adelaide, I arrange a city tour, where

do you want to go?”

Remembering his coldness, she said indifferently, “No, I want to read at home.”

Antonio's eyebrows wrinkled together. He seriously refused, “No, you are now pregnant, you cannot

always stay at home.”

Antonio knew her well. As long as he said it was good for the child, Adelaide basically would not

oppose. He took a glance at her, lightly coughed and said, “Do you want our child to be the same as

you in the future? Only stay in the room all day?”

Seeing her thinking about it, Antonio continued, “You like flowers, Koby found a place with many

flowers!”

Adelaide looked down to see him, “Really?”

He nodded and handed the materials to Adelaide, who stared intently at it, with her long eyelashes

fluttering.

“Then let's go see the phalaenopsis orchids.” She thought deeply for a moment, as if she had made a

big decision. The symbolism of the phalaenopsis orchid was good luck, and she hoped that she would

get better with Antonio.

Antonio nodded and helped her up.

It took more than an hour to drive from the city to the suburban village, and because he drove slowly,

they spent more time on the road.

She leaned her head on the car window, Antonio said, “It is cold, take one pillow!”

Adelaide spat out her tongue, took out a pillow from the back seat and leaned against the car window

again. The huge change in Antonio made Adelaide panic. Yesterday he was cold, why was he

considerate today?

Once she started, she couldn't stop thinking about it. She blinked and pretended to be making small

talk, “Antonio, didn't Clarissa get sick yesterday? Is she okay?”

Antonio turned his head to look at her and shook his head.

Adelaide was thinking: he didn't find out that Clarissa was faking her pregnancy? Then why did he

suddenly ask her out and treat her so well?

The uneasiness in Adelaide's heart was instantly magnified, and she cautiously asked, “Antonio, why

did you ask me out today?”

Antonio did not look at her but showed a light smile. Adelaide thought Antonio might have figured out

that she was not a spy. She felt that she should show her position and innocence.

“Antonio, I... I'm not a spy for the Swift family, and I am not related to them.”

She thought her words would gain Antonio's belief, but she didn't expect the man to stop the car

sharply. He was furious, “You eavesdropped on my phone call?”

Adelaide was stunned, she explained, “No, no, I, I didn't!”

Antonio grabbed her hand. The pillow on the car window lost its weight and fell. He narrowed his eyes,

with dangerous aura in his eyes, “No? What are you talking about?”

Adelaide was anxious. She shouted, “No, no! You are hurting me!”

Antonio didn't pay any attention to her words, “If you did not eavesdrop, why did you say that?”

She wanted to make up a story, but the pain that on her wrist made her fail.

“Say it!”

Adelaide said in a crying voice, “Sorry, sorry, Antonio, I was wrong. Ah! It hurts!”

He was silent and let go of his hand. Adelaide looked at him with teary eyes, rubbed her wrist, “I'm

sorry, I shouldn't have overheard you talking on the phone, but I'm not a spy.”

“Shut up and don't eavesdrop on me again.” He interrupted Adelaide's words with a stern warning.

She nodded sheepishly.

“And don't mention it again.” Antonio clenched her hand into a fist. She swallowed fearfully and nodded

again.

After saying that, Antonio stared at her fiercely and said coldly, “If I find you eavesdropping again, get

out of the Baron family!”

At that, Adelaide's body shook and she assured him that she would not do it again!

Antonio was more annoyed. Every time when his impression of this woman had changed, she always

let him down.
