Please Come Back, Honey! Chapter 129

When Alice started to curse him, he decided to hang up on her.

What he never expected was for her to cause a ruckus at Christopher’s place. When he thought about Christopher’s health, Trevor had no choice but to head over and personally resolve the matter.

Trevor could hear Alice’s loud cries the moment he arrived at Bateson Residence.

“Dad, you have to let me make the decision this time around. I have sacrificed a lot for the Bateson Family all these years. Even when Jared had an affair and left the family, I never insisted on a divorce and willingly brought up the two kids. Are you saying that I don’t deserve my fair share of credit for my hard work?”

Then, she added, “I have a husband, but it’s like not having one. My son is also forever busy. Arianna and I have depended on each other over the years. Now that Arianna is in trouble, are you expecting me to see her being imprisoned? If that’s the case, it’s better for me to die!”

Alice was being hysterical with each word as she collapsed on the floor in tears while Christopher remained on the couch. He could not retort because what she said had poked a sensitive spot in his heart.

An example would be his disappointing son, Jared. He had caused such a big mess back then and chose to turn his back on the family by leaving for abroad. It was indeed Alice who kept the family on its feet and made it look decent on the surface.

Maybe it was like what she had said; if Arianna hadn’t been by her side all these years, no one would have known how the relationship Alice had with Jared would have turned out.

Christopher sighed in his heart because he realized that he never had the perfect family in the beginning, which caused Arianna to be spoiled.

Maybe he should have encouraged Jared and Alice to divorce back then instead of reluctantly maintaining the marriage for the sake of the Bateson Family’s reputation.

The moment Trevor pushed the door open to enter, Alice, who was seated on the floor, saw him. Then, she grabbed the teapot next to Christopher and threw it at Trevor while yelling at the top of her voice, “Trevor Bateson! Are you sure you want to push your mother to the point of no return?!”

Because Alice was extremely fast in her actions, Trevor had no way of avoiding it, and the teapot landed on his head. As a result of that, there was fresh blood flowing in that instant.

Christopher had flung many teapots in his direction over the years, but Trevor was never once hurt. That was because Christopher did not have the heart to hurt Trevor, but Alice was being ruthless this time around.

A panicked Christopher quickly informed Sebastian, “Be quick, Sebastian. Get the first aid kit to stop the bleeding!”

Alice was also stunned; she never expected that she would hurt Trevor because she only wanted to vent her anger…

She rushed over to his side and hurriedly apologized, “Trevor, I didn’t mean it. I really didn’t—”

Trevor took the gauze that Sebastian handed over before he squeezed his lips and remained silent.

The furious Christopher lectured Alice. “Don’t tell me that you regard only Arianna as your child?! Since when have you treated Trevor as a son?! You keep harping on the fact that he never protected Arianna. Yet, you have never even considered what Arianna has done! The person whom she has attacked is Emma! Have you ever thought about Trevor’s feelings?!”

He had seen Alice’s biasness toward Arianna from back then, which was why he could understand the situation from Trevor’s point of view.

If Trevor tried his best to protect Arianna, it would create an irreparable distance between him and Emma, which would be a heartbreak for him. Now that he did not protect Arianna, Alice was repeatedly throwing tantrums.

“Also, when Trevor and Emma were married in those three years, these two might not have divorced if only you and Arianna had treated Emma well enough.”

Those were the words that he wanted to tell both Arianna and Alice.

Out of all the members of the Bateson Family, only Christopher was the one who supported Emma. However, he did not have much influence. As a result, the disappointed Emma calmly decided the route of divorce.

Facing his accusations, Alice retorted, “His feelings? Doesn’t he hate Emma? Since that’s the case, he should protect Arianna since Arianna is his sister!”

What she did not know was that Trevor had a change of heart toward Emma—or maybe she was aware of it, but refused to admit it.

After turning to Alice, Trevor calmly said, “No matter who Arianna has hurt today, I still won’t protect Arianna.”

He could understand that she was protecting Arianna as a mother, but what she failed to realized was that Arianna’s actions had breached the law

Regardless of whether Arianna’s target was Emma or some other random woman, Arianna needed to pay the price for her actions.

“Mom, I’m not exaggerating. If Arianna doesn’t pay the price for her actions this time, she will indeed cause a bigger headache for us to resolve.” Then, he added, “By then, none of us can protect her anymore.”

“Didn’t I say it a long time ago? I’m doing everything for Arianna’s benefit and that includes sending her abroad for studies,” Trevor reminded Alice before he followed Sebastian to have the wound cleaned and dressed.

A dazed Alice stood there while Christopher rudely added, “What Trevor has said makes sense. Arianna has been spoiled by you. “It’s okay to be reckless, but there has to be a limit to it.”

After saying that, he turned his back and left the area as he was heartbroken that Trevor was injured. Now that both Trevor and Christopher had expressed their intentions not to protect Arianna, Alice was disheartened again.

Now that she had regained her composure, Alice trembled as she pointed at Trevor and Christopher. “Alright then! Since you guys don’t want to care about her and our lives, don’t you ever regret your decision!”

She turned and stomped out of the residence after throwing those words at the two men.

Christopher was so exasperated by Alice’s attitude that he couldn’t help but tell Trevor, “Your mother still can’t understand that Arianna needs to be strictly disciplined.” Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Trevor still pursed his lips and did not say anything.

It was just like how Christopher had described it; the moment that Arianna was in trouble, Alice had shoved the blame to others instead of asking Arianna for the reason. Yet, Alice still had the nerve to hate Trevor for not asking and taking positive action.

Christopher sighed. “With such a temperament, it’s no wonder that your father insisted on divorcing your mother.”

“They both can’t reason with each other. When your mom loses her temper, she will throw tantrums,” he continued speaking. As a bystander, he was able to observe the situation with a clear mind. “They had an awesome relationship when they first married. Otherwise, there won’t be Arianna and you today. However, as time went on, they couldn’t get along with each other to the point where your father was drained.”

“Of course, your father wasn’t the most perfect either. If he was tired of the marriage, he should have said it aloud. He could have asked for a separation, but he searched for comfort in the arms of another woman elsewhere!”

He knew that Alice was not completely to be blamed because Jared was also a sc*mbag.

Trevor finally spoke up. “Judging from my mom’s behavior, if my dad were to divorce her, it would be a mess, though.”

“That is also true.” With yet another sigh, Christopher agreed. He was already at this age, yet he had to worry about his children and grandkids. It looked like he would not have an easy life before death.
