Chapter 658
Serenity looked at Jackson in a little daze. After a while, she said, “In that case, I guess I must have been through so much just to meet you and fall in love with you. If I hadn’t gone through all these challenges, maybe I wouldn’t have met you.” Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
The prison sentence had turned Serenity’s life completely upside down. Otherwise, Serenity might have married Zeke and remained a lawyer. She might not fit in with the Shaw family after marrying Zeke. Maybe she would not even marry Zeke because of his parents‘ disapproval.
Whatever the possibilities, Serenity would not have met Jackson that fateful night and brought him home. Serenity and Jackson might eventually cross paths like two parallel lines.

Jackson snuggled himself against her shoulder. “Yeah. Much better.” She was his only source of peace. Jackson had always thought of himself as someone unafraid of the cold. He could survive spending hours outside wearing thin clothes without feeling much chill in the cold.
Jackson would visit the place where his father had died every late night during his father’s death anniversary. He wondered if he would be frozen to death someday, just like his father. Living seemed meaningless to him. Death was nothing to him.
Serenity’s embrace made him feel warm again. Having experienced warmth, he began to fear the cold and longed for more warmth. Just like how he longed for her.
Outside the room, a figure stood by the window, staring blankly at the couple embracing each other.
