Chapter 30 The airport

Viola

I explained to Elizabeth about what happened and she just kept smiling.

” Derrick is really the glue huh?” She said and stared at me.

” You and my brother are just hopelessly in love.”

” I just realized he has the most beautiful hazel eyes ever and he hides it!” I said and she laughed.

” Did you even hear what I said?”NôvelDrama.Org content.

” S-sure… is that a bad thing?”

” No, I’m just happy that Kade finally got the woman he loves to love him back. You have no idea how happy he is but- you two shouldn’t lose focus okay? I’m going to sleep.” She said and left my room.

I wondered what it would be like in a year when Kade has finally established a name for himself. He would be so happy and I… sadly don’t have anything I’ve established myself in – except art.

I took my bath and decided to do something I actually love so I went outside the house and decided to paint the house. The scenery was just perfect, the breeze was calm and blew my hair keeping me cool throughout the whole process.

And then there’s Zeus, he was my model. He sat in one spot without moving until I was through, I rewarded him with a treat and he slept afterwards. It was so exhausting for me and Zeus because I was a slow painter.

I was just letting the painting dry when Kade drove in from work looking extremely pissed off. I tried to feet him but he just walked past me. I sighed and looked at my painting, wondering what had happened this time to soil his mood.

” That’s a really nice painting,” I heard him say but I rolled my eyes and folded my arms in annoyance. Could he just have one personality so my life can be easier?

” I’m sorry I walked past you, it’s just a very bad habit I’ve acquired over the years.” He explained and crouched so he could be at eye level with me where I sat.

” Whatever,” I sulked and he smiled. I glanced at him and he was wearing his glasses! The one with the Golden frame that he used to wear in highschool.

” What’s wrong? You don’t like the glasses?”

” Umm, why are you suddenly wearing those?” I asked nervously and he sighed while admiring my painting.

” a lady told me my eyes were beautiful so I thought I should let my eyes rest a little from contacts. Apparently, she’s not impressed with my alternative.”

” no, it’s not that I hate it, I just thought you hated anything that reminds you of highschool.”

” Its different now.” He said and smiled at me saying, you make me happy now, didn’t you see how mad I was before?”

I blushed and tucked my hair behind my ear, biting my lips to prevent me from smiling like an idiot.

” Why were you mad?” I asked instead and he stood upright.

” My mother called, she’s just been talking a lot of bullshit. Let’s go inside?” he said, extending his hand to me while he told Pedro to take my painting inside.

Kade and I spoke over dinner and his mood was so sour every time he spoke of his mother. Apparently she’s blaming him for his father’s heart condition, saying if he didn’t leave his father’s company none of this would have happened.

” I mean I used to tell my dad just how stupid Klyde was but he still insisted Klyde joined me in the business. Now he’s learned the hard way that Klyde was never capable of anything.”

” I understand, so what are you going to do now?” I asked and he exhaled and dropped his fork.

” It seems the only thing to do now is for me to wait and see how my father’s health improves. If he recovers quickly he’ll most likely take over the company while telling Klyde what to do.”

” And if he doesn’t get better?”

” I’ll have no choice but to help him with the company. At least this time I know that people would realize my impact – they already are!”

I nodded in agreement with him and he heaved a sigh. My phone buzzed and I checked the message.

” Oh my God! It’s Nina! She’s at the airport!” I squealed startling Kade.

” Okay? So where are you going?” he asked when he saw me get up and arrange my hair.

” To bring her here of course! That’s my best friend!”

He laughed and scratched his hair, ” babe, I didn’t say you couldn’t go.” He said and I gave him a quick kiss on the lips before I ran out of the house.

” Hey I need a ride!” I said when I saw kade’s driver flirting with Victoria. He groaned before he left her while I was already in the car waiting for him. I wondered just how often Kade fired his driver because this one was a different person. In fact I have never seen him before.

I took a look at Victoria, she was looking at me with this look in her eyes like she was afraid. Why would she be afraid? Has she done something wrong?

Well, when I come back home with Nina then the both of us can join heads together and figure out what is really wrong with Victoria and I totally trust Nina’s ability to probe people.

I opened my eyes to find myself in an unfamiliar route. I didn’t realize that I slept off, how could I have slept of when I was so excited to see Nina?!

” hey, why aren’t we at the airport yet?” I asked, the driver turned around and scoffed. That’s a lot of effontry!

” Did you just scoff at me? You have no idea what that means for you do you?” I asked, trying to sound as threatening as Kade but he just laughed.

” Maybe you’ll understand what this means for you, you’ve just been kidnapped Viola.” He said while I stared at him, my heart pounding as I said to myself, ” no way in hell that he’s being serious”

” You can’t kidnap me! I’m meant to be at the airport –”

” – let me guess, you’re going there to pick up Nina right? Well there’s no Nina. Just prepare yourself for the worst kind of sorrow, hunger and pain you can ever know.” He said with a smirk.

I started to hit the rear door glass, screaming ” help!” at the top of my voice even though the glasses were tinted.

I thought this was the worst thing that could happen to me until the man suddenly yelled,” shit!” and several bullets came flying through the windscreen from the front and back of the car and I got hit, slamming my head against something hard when the car came to a halt.
