c Chapter 83
When Sylvie learned that Kage had lost the vote, she was furious and felt really bad for Kage. Somehow, she felt bad because she used to be in a relationship with Westley. Evelyn was right. Westley had lost his mind and wanted by all means to ruin Kage. But she wasn't going to let him.
"I've told you, it's fine. You have nothing to worry about," Kage said for what felt like the hundredth time as he poured himself another glass of wine at the counter, while Sylvie seethed in the living room behind him. "You keep saying that. But he's the one leading the project, not you. What can we possibly do to stop him?" There were wrinkled lines on her forehead.
"We?" Kage chuckled, turning to look as he sipped from his glass. "I don't think there'll be any 'we', Sylvie. This is my Group. It's my responsibility to fix it."
"I know. But it it doesn't mean you can't accept help."
"Well. what can you possibly do? Slap him? Yell at him and ask him to resign?" He laughed. "This isn't a battle for girls, honey."
"Seriously?" She rolled her eyes. "You think that it is all I can do? It's obvious you don't know me." Well, I think I do"
do.
Setting down his glass, he strode over to sit beside her on the couch, putting a hand over her shoulder. "But really, you should stop worrying. I'll handle this."
Sylvie's shoulders relaxed a bit, but she still seemed bothered as she looked at him. "If you say so."
Taking a deep breath, she put her head on his shoulder, loving how it felt. She hoped they could remain this way with nothing coming between them. For once in her life, she wished she could truly be happy. Kage's phone buzzed to life, ringing on the table. It was close enough for both of them to take a peek.
Sylvie's stomach churned when she discovered it was Lana.
It was evening already. Why was she calling - Sylvie thought.
They glanced at each other before Kage sat up and reached for the phone.
Sylvie forced herself not to have any negative thoughts as she watched him answer the call.
But it wasn't Lana who spoke from the other end. “Hi, Kage. It's Mia.”
Mia was Lana's younger sister. Kage's brows furrowed, wondering why Mia would be calling with Lana's phone.
"Uh... Hi, Mia. Is everything okay?" He reclined in the couch.
"Uh... No. And I'm sorry I had to call. It's just that, Lana's very sick. She's been crying and wishes you were here. I think it has to do with the baby."
There was a pause. "You know our mother isn't around, Kage. So she feels lonely and abandoned. It'd be nice if you could come around and check her out."

Sylvie couldn't hear what the caller was saying, but Kage's weary expression made her curious. She stared at his face intently like she could get the answers she needed out of it. "If she's sick, why don't you get her to a hospital? Or call the doctor to come around? Leaving her in that condition is more dangerous." Kage said, giving Sylvie some clarity. I want

For several heartbeats, Kage was silent, his fingers pinching the space between his eyebrows.
"I'll call you back," he finally said and and dropped the

Sylvie folded her hands, watching as he operated his phone.
"You sho

Tana was a maid at Lana's place. Kage had taken her contact after Lana became pregnant, incase there was an emergency with her and he needed to reach her.
"I'm fine, sir. Do you need something?
"Not really - just a question. Is Lana okay?"
maid was silent.

"Tana, you know you can tell me the truth. Remember we have an agreement."
The woman sighed. "Actually, she's very fine, sir. Not long ago, she was drinking at the balcony. I-I overheard her telling Mia to... to call you and..." She stopped, unable to get the rest of the words out. Kage exhaled. "It's fine. Thank you." He dropped the call.
"What happened?" Sylvie asked with furrowed brows.
"Nothing," he smiled, taking her hand. "I got what I wanted."

He knew Lana well enough to know how dramatic she could be, and he'd already anticipated she'd try to pull something like this.

Sylvie was still angry over what Westley had done to Kage. And to make things worse, he wouldn't stop calling and texting her. Although, thankfully, she wasn't with Kage the times he called.
She had to restrict his number from calling her, and for two days, she was at peace. But on the third day, when a strange number called, she picked up and instantly regretted it as soon as she heard the caller's voice. "Still mad at me?" Was the first thing he said.
She closed her eyes and grunted, fi***g her hands. "Why won't you let me be? What!? Do you so desperately want to rub it in my face that you won the vote?"
Westley was silent for some seconds before replying. "I already told you - I hate it when you get involved in my business life. So, that isn't why I'm calling."

"So, what do you want?"
"How did we ever get to this point?" He clicked his tongue. "We used to be cool, you know? I can't believe you let Kage get in your head.
Sylvie's hands fisted beside her, anger slipping in. "Listen, Kage didn't get in my head. And this should be the last time you talk about him in that manner." She scoffed. "Winning the vote isn't gonna be enough for you, right? You still have more things to do to him, don't you? Well, guess what? I'm not going to let you hurt him anymore." "Wh...What are you talking about?"
"I know, Westley!" She snapped. "I know you have more agendas against Kage - to ruin him. But I I won't let it happen. This stunt will be the last one you pull."
"Okay..." Westley chuckled. "Now, this is really funny. What in God's name has Kage told you? I'm not planning anything, Sy
"Don't call me again!" She ended the call, her chest still heaving.
Now more than ever, she was determined to stop him. And she was going to tell Kage all about it.
