Chapter 41
Chapter 41
Linda opted to work remotely instead of going to the office to avoid being bothered by William,
On Friday afternoon, she caught a flight to Aventis alone. She always suspected that John’s death wasn’t
an accident. She needed to track down John’s subordinate to get to the bottom of it.
Tom’s eagerness to get rid of Zack probably wasn’t just about financial fraud. Zack likely knew something Important.
Linda didn’t know John’s subordinates well, especially Zack. Even though she wasn’t certain if she could get him to spill the truth, she had to give it a shot.
She was convinced that Tom had a hand in John’s death. Even if he wasn’t the mastermind, he must have
done something to expedite things. He had been plotting for years, after all.
Linda couldn’t deny that John had made enemies over the years. In business, making enemies was par for the course. Retaliation was expected when one stepped on others‘ toes.
However, no one wanted John dead more than Tom.
Her aim on this trip was to extract valuable information from Zack. Even though she wasn’t sure if she would succeed, she had to try.
William only found out where Linda was after her plane landed in Aventis. He immediately booked a flight
and checked into the same hotel as her.
Lucy was at the Felix residence. She had somehow managed to secure Tom’s release.
When Tom heard that Linda had flown to Aventis, he became agitated. Zack was in Aventis. If Linda discovered those secrets, it would spell disaster for their entire family.
Linda’s return after four years revealed a woman who had outgrowri her former naivety. Tom knew he
couldn’t afford to underestimate her now.”
Upon hearing that Linda was heading to Aventis, Lucy began venting to Tom, “I told you we should have gotten rid of them back then, but you didn’t listen. Now what?
“If Linda isn’t meeting Zack, we might be safe. But if she is, we’re screwed. He was one of John’s trusted
guys.”
John’s subordinates were loyal and trustworthy and weren’t the type to be swayed by money. With Linda
being John’s daughter, Zack would undoubtedly spill the beans to her.
By then, Tom and Lucy wouldn’t be able to clear their names, regardless of what they tried.
“If we’d gotten rid of Zack back then, we’d be in a bigger mess now.” Tom glared at Lucy.
She didn’t understand the situation and couldn’t see the larger picture. He would have certainly done it if
it had been possible back then.

“John had four loyal subordinates. Do you know why the other three are still with the company?” Tom
asked.
“Why?” Lucy, who didn’t have much education and had married Tom from a lower–class background,
looked confused.
“Because Zack is safe. If something had happened to him, the others would have left the company. Do you think we could have kept the business running then?”
Lucy stayed silent. She knew they couldn’t have kept the company going without them.

Tom knew that to achieve anything, he had to keep the company afloat. Making money depended on the company’s survival.
“So, what do we do now? Finish it off?” Lucy asked.
“I’ve gone this far. Dyou expect me to add a murder to my record?” Tom snapped.
“Dad, dead men tell no tales,” Hannah said as she walked down the stairs.
“Hannah, what are you getting at?” Tom asked.
