Chapter82 His Fiancee
His Fiancee
Pearl had two operations this morning, and she kept busy until 1 pm. When she finally left the operation
room, she was so tired that she couldn't even lift her arms. She then get changed and went to her
office.
"Dr. Yonng, someone is waiting for you in the office."
Before she arrived at her office, she was stopped by a nurse at the duty desk, who then asked: "Is that
your husband? He looks so handsome." Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
A name flashed across Pearl's mind. But she denied the thought in the next second.
The nurse had met Richard before and she knew that his girlfriend was Adriana.
She understood who the man was after she opened the office door.
"Alex, why are you here?" Pearl greeted him.
It was Alex, dressed in a refreshing blue casual suit. He tapped on the lunch box he put on table with
his slender fingers and smiled, "Let's have lunch together."
Pearl's office was decorated in a very plain style. She had just resumed her job and was so busy that
she seldom had time to have lunch in her office. She never even bothered decorating her office.
The food that Alex brought was home-cooked, which looked very yummy.
"This is really good." Pearl commended as she ate.
"My mother made this meal."
"Really? Her cooking is such good?" Pearl asked in surprise.
"She's already retired and had a lot of spare time. She loves cooking and is always afraid that I don't
have time to eat well at the hospital."
"Wow, I'm jealous of you."
"About what?"
"At least you have a mom who always takes care of you. My mother passed away long ago."
Pearl's mother had passed away very early in her life. Although her father took care of her and her
sister in every possible way, he would sometimes miss out on a lot of details.
Alex showed an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, it must have been tough for you."
"It's okay. It's already been so long." Pearl took a sip of the soup. "I don't quite remember her look
clearly. I recall that she hasn't made my many meals."
Alex felt a little upset seeing her say that. "Why don't you come have dinner at my home in the future? I
think my mother will be glad. When she was young she always said that she wanted to have a
daughter, but failed."
"Haha, really? Sure!"
Hearing this, Alex smiled as well.
"Oh, right! What can I do for you? You are not coming just to have a lunch with me, right?" Pearl asked
after she swallowed the food in her mouth.
Alex put down his fork, took out a contract from his bag and said, "Dr. Morgan lets me give this to you."
It was an offer of teaching at the Ocpeace Medical University.
Pearl wiped her hands and took the contract. "So soon?" She asked.
Dr. Morgan had just mentioned it last Saturday, while the contract was already prepared within just two
days.
"Because he thinks you're talented and he wants to make sure other universities don't get to you first.
Students tend to think older professors are boring."
"I have checked the details for you and there is no problem. The working hours are quite flexible, as
per a lecturer's standards."
"Okay." Pearl took a pen on table without another word and signed her name on the final page of the
contract.
"You aren't going to check it again?"
"You have done this for me." Pearl handed Alex another signed copy of the contract, "This copy should
be given to Dr. Morgan, right?"
"Yes," Alex smiled, "Then we're gonna be coworkers soon."
The new semester starts this coming September, right? I'll have to start teaching by then, right?" Pearl
calculated the time and asked.
"That's right. The university will contact you again regarding the syllabus. Don't worry about it."
Pearl could never wrap her head around such complicated matters.
Alex knew Pearl was a carefree person that she hated trouble. He had arranged well everything
regarding this job offer for her beforehand.
Pearl couldn't stay at her office for too long since she had to work in the afternoon. After she finished
her meal, she sent Alex out and said: "Thanks for everything, Alex. I'll treat you on dinner next time."
"You're most welcome. Instead of treating me a dinner, why not go to my place and have a meal
sometime?" Alex smiled at Pearl. Under the shiny sun, his lively eyes looked gentle and energetic.
"Sure."
After sending Alex off, Pearl headed for the outpatient service. Suddenly, her phone vibrated. It was a
message sent from Alexander.
"Have you had lunch?"
Pearl frowned and put the phone back into a pocket of her lab coat.
Last Saturday evening, after Alex gave Alexander her messenger account, the latter had quickly added
her. Pearl didn't pay him any attention, but Alexander insisted on sending her greetings everyday
without fail.
Pearl wanted to learn how much Alexander knew about the event seven years ago. She would find a
time when she was free to discuss it properly with him, but she didn't want to chat with him like this
everyday. They weren't friends.
She walked past a group of enticed nurses on her way back. They looked like they were gossiping.
"Hi, Dr. Yonng."
"Dr. Yonng, how are you doing?"
Pearl nodded and asked, "What are you talking about?"
A nurse raised the mobile phone in front of Pearl with great enthusiasm. "The president of the
Zellweger Group officially announced his marriage. He even announced who his fiancée is and the
wedding date."
Pearl's face darkened. Her hand froze in midair.
The phone was showing a headline of Kityall City.
"Dr. Yonng, you know the Zellweger Group, don't you?" One nurse asked.
Before Pearl could answer, a nurse next to her said, "How could she not know them? Richard
Zellweger once stayed at our hospital last time."
"Oh yes, that's right!"
"Hey, Mr. Zellweger's fiancée used to visit this hospital, didn't she? We've met her before."
"Really? I couldn't remember. What does she look like?"
"She's pretty. A daughter from a rich family and she's a person."
......
When Pearl arrived at her office, she was still lost in her thought. As she closed the door, she felt the
throbbing of her heart quickening.
Richard was going to get married from the beginning, wasn't he? Didn't she already know this when
she came back?
But why were you still upset?
