Chapter 4 A fake bestie!
Chapter 4 A fake bestie!
In the bathroom, water was gushing from the tap.
Pearl stared at her face in the mirror. Her face was flawless and her white coat suited her.
Unfortunately, her red eyes was so evident that people would notice that she just cried.
If that thing didn't happened seven years ago, she would have married Richard.
Seven years ago...
When Pearl recalled the incident seven years ago, she felt a dull pain on the back of her head. At the
moment she even couldn't to breathe.
The dark rainy night, the alley, a group of men was surrounding her. She was screaming for help but
the voice was drowned out by the rain...Everything seemed to begin to show up before her again.
"Bang,bang,bang!"
"Who's in there? Why did you lock the door?"
The sudden knocks pull her back instantly. She felt like she just came out from the water after nearly
drowning. She took a long deep breath and snapped back to her senses.
She hurriedly washed her hand and went out, saying"Sorry."
"What are you doing? You're even a doctor, you..."
Pearl left the curses behind and hurried away with a low head.
When she returned to her office, she spotted the girl in the white dress sitting in front of her desk.
"Pearl." Adriana stood up. The train of her wedding dress fell on the floor. When the sunlight shone on
the dress, it was very dazzling.
Adriana noticed Pearl's red eyes. So she asked hesitantly, "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine. I just treated a patient and the medicine went into my eyes." Pearl pretended to be relax and
tried to make a small smile. She put the medical reports on the table and asked, "What can I do for
you?"
"Well, Richard wants to change a doctor. And I thought I should inform you first." Adriana added, "Don't
get me wrong for I didn't call the shots. It was Richard."
Pearl clenched her hands in her pockets quietly and expressionlessly. She replied calmly, "It doesn't
matter. You could just tell the dean about it. Even if it's your idea, it's also understandable. You don't
have to explain yourself."
After all, she had a relationship with Richard. And Adriana was one of the few people who knew about
it.
"Pearl, I know you must be upset and hate me. And if you didn't leave ..." Adriana wanted to say more
but she stopped for a while. She tugged Pearl's arm sadly and continued, "But you were gone for so
many years, and when you left, you told me that you won't be with Richard anymore, so I..."
Somehow, Pearl was nauseated when she saw her once bestie acting sad and miserable.
Pearl was always straightforward. Why had she never realized that her best friend was a hypocrite? Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Pearl explained patiently, "Just let bygones be bygones. What you're worrying about won't happen. My
back has nothing to do with Richard."
Adriana seemed to say more.
But she was interrupted by a ringtone.
Pearl pulled her arm away. She checked the name on her mobile phone and concluded, "Adriana,
Sorry but I must deal with this."
Adriana replied smilingly, "All right. Let's talk another time."
After saying that, she lifted her dress and walked out. The sight of the white dress pained Pearl.
Before Adriana closes the door, she heard Pearl answering the phone, "Hello?"
And maybe because Pearl accidentally put the call on speaker, Adriana heard a childish and lovely
voice from the phone, "Mommy! Guess who am I?"
Mommy?
Adriana's face fell. She tightened her grip on the doorknob. She left the door ajar.
A child? Who was the father?
Was she married? Or from those people in the alley from seven years ago...
Within a short time, a lot of speculations came up in Adriana's head.
If Richard knew it...
Adriana became extremely anxious as she recalled Richard's reaction when he met Pearl.
