Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Celeste’s pride took an unprecedented hit. Nothing was more embarrassing than being looked down on by the person you care about
She didn’t say anything more, unbuckled her seatbelt, and opened the door. Before getting out, she looked back at Liam and asked, “When will we handle the divorce procedures?”
Liam stared at her coldly, “Tomorrow at 3 pm.”
“See you at 3 pm tomorrow then.” Celeste got out of the car and walked along the green belt towards the distance.
She didn’t look back or beg him, walking with determination.
Liam’s face tensed, his fingers tightening, “Drive.”
Owen wanted to ease his anger, “Mr. Reed, this area is still under construction, and the surveillance on the roads is incomplete. It’s not safe for Ma’am to be alone here. How about…”
Owen wanted to say something but was interrupted by Liam’s icy tone, “Drive! Don’t make me say it again!”
Owen had no choice but to shut his mouth.
Celeste walked a bit and heard the car start behind her. Then, with a “bang,” something hit the ground, and Liam’s car drove past her, quickly disappearing from sight.
She looked back to see the bag Liam had given her carelessly thrown on the ground, rolling far away.
She paused for a moment, then continued walking. But not far away, she gritted her teeth and went back to pick up the bag. He just threw away such an expensive bag like that! Was Liam out of his mind?
She picked up the bag, carefully checked it over, and luckily, aside from some dust, it wasn’t damaged.
She figured there shouldn’t be any problem taking it back. After all, it’s Liam who threw it away, so it should be fine, right?
This gift should count as their marital property. She should have half of it, and taking the bag away would be reasonable, right? Worst case, she could sell it and share the money with Liam.
With that thought, she felt her actions were justified and carried the bag away with ease.
“Ah!” Trisha suddenly screamed, almost scaring the bag out of Celeste’s hands.
“Oh my God! This is so expensive!”
Trisha trembled, pointing at the bag. “Are you nuts? Just for this thing? This expensive? I don’t even feel worthy to be in the same room with it!”
Celeste turned off the electric fan, combing her half–dry long hair, teasingly said, “You should’ve studied acting instead of scriptwriting back then. It suits you the best.”
Trisha gingerly touched the bag, gritting her teeth, “I’m sleeping with it tonight. I want to become rich in my dreams!”
“Do as you please, but take some good pictures of it before you sleep.” Celeste said.
Trisha turned around, “Why take pictures? Post them on Twitter? Are you trying to infuriate those ladies?”
“No,” Celeste sat down, “I want to sell it.”
“What?” Trisha said in surprise.
“I’m getting a divorce with Liam tomorrow. After the divorce, I plan to buy a house, preferably near Mercy Hospital, a fully furnished one, for taking care of my mother. I’ve seen houses in that area before, the ones that meet my requirements are pretty expensive. After buying a house, I won’t have much money left. Also, Legend informed me today that I failed my audition, so I’ll be short of money after the divorce. For me, this bag is better off being exchanged for cash.” Celeste said.
“You didn’t pass the audition?” Trisha couldn’t believe it, “I thought they had confirmed earlier, but that the contract wasn’t ready. They asked you to sign it in a few days, and what’s this now?”
“I also asked why they suddenly changed their mind, and the answer they gave was that one of their bosses didn’t like my voice, maybe it was too mature.” Celeste said.
“Nonsense! It must be some bastards causing trouble! Otherwise, how could things change at the last minute? Do you know who they signed instead? Watch me give that person a piece of my mind!” Trisha said.
“Forget it, the contract wasn’t signed in the first place, and there’s no recording of the oral agreement. Let’s just say I’m unlucky.” Celeste sighed.
Trisha was still angry, cursed at the “troublemaker“, and then cursed at Liam, “You are just too soft– hearted. If it were me, I would find evidence of his affair, and even if getting a divorce, I’d try to get more money!”
“Whatever,” Celeste lowered her eyes, “I don’t care anymore.”Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
The things Liam said today, and the way he abandoned her on the street, made her fully realize the reality. All she wanted now was to get a divorce quickly and put an end to this relationship.
Trisha didn’t know how to comfort her, in the end she hugged her tightly, “I have plenty of handsome and rich young men, I will definitely pick the best one for you, and piss off that jerk Liam!”
Celeste could only laugh, “Let’s earn money first. When I get enough money, I’ll pick who I like, I don’t want to be chosen by others anymore.”
The next morning, Celeste woke up very late. She didn’t know if it was because she was caught in the rain yesterday, but she woke up with a bit of a headache.
She looked in the mirror for a long time before she remembered that today was the day of her divorce, so she started to get dressed carefully.
When she got her marriage certificate with Liam back then, it was very rushed.
She remembered that it was a week before her graduation defense, she stayed up all night to revise her thesis, went to bed at dawn, and was woken up by Liam’s phone call after only two hours of sleep.
Before that, Liam and she had only met three times, his sudden phone call caught her off guard, and she had no mental preparation at all. In the midst of her half–asleep and half–awake dormitory roommates‘ complaints, she ran to the
bathroom to answer the call.
“Are you free?” Liam asked.
To be honest, Liam’s voice was very cold, but perhaps she was really in love back then, she always found his voice so pleasan. She whispered back, “Yes.”
“Then I’ll pick you up.” Liam said.
Her heart was pounding, she stuttered, “Where… where to?”
It seemed like Liam was driving, she heard the sound of an engine, and then heard him say, “We’re going to get a marriage certificate.”
