Chapter 11
Chapter 11
“Dad, you run a company too. Which intern at your company drives a Porsche to work? Liam gets million–dollar projects and still only drives a Mercedes to meet clients. Why does she need a high–end car?” Celeste asked.
Shawn was annoyed, “Every company is different. You’re just enjoying life with the Reed family. What do you know?”
“Enjoying life with the Reed family?” Celeste sneered, “When you persuaded me to quit my job, you didn’t say that. Besides, I’m not the only one the Reed family supports.”
“Smack!” Shawn slapped the table angrily. “It’s just lending a car, why do you have to bring up old stuff?”
Angel quickly tried to calm Shawn, “Dad, don’t get mad. It’s my fault for mentioning it. If Celeste doesn’t want to lend it, just let it go. Don’t be angry with her.”
The more Angel tried to calm him down, the more Shawn disliked his own daughter Celeste, “Look at Angel, younger than you but more sensible!”
Dinner ended on a sour note. As they were leaving, Angel put two boxes of white truffles on Celeste’s car and said through the window, “Sis, Liam didn’t come today because of work, right?”
Celeste glanced at her, “What are you trying to say?”
Angel smiled, “A car can have more than one owner, so can a man.”
After closing the car window for her, Angel turned and left.
Back at the apartment.
Trisha looked at the two gift boxes and said, “This must be at least ten pounds. Your dad really goes all out to please the Reed family. Have you ever told him that your mother–in–law doesn’t even look at the gifts he sends?”
“Do you think he’d stop if I told him?” Celeste asked.
With five or six TV stations airing Sydney’s show and no interesting programs, Celeste simply turned off the TV. She said. “He’d just think the gifts aren’t good enough and send better ones next time.”
“What do you plan to do with this?” Trisha asked.
Celeste didn’t know.
Shawn didn’t trust her, so every time he sent something, he’d ask Liam if she’d received it.
Why not give it to Liam and let him pass it on to his mother?
Thinking of their sharp argument during the day, she regretted not being more patient. What if Liam held a grudge and didn’t cover for her? She shouldn’t be too extreme in her actions.. C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.
She thought about it and swallowed her pride to call Liam.
The phone rang for a while before being answered, but just as she was about to speak, the line was cut off.
At first, she thought it was an accident and called again.
But just like the previous time, the call was cut off as soon as it connected.
After five or six attempts, Celeste finally realized Liam was doing it on purpose!
Damn him! What a vengeful man!
Of course, Celeste wouldn’t give up so easily. She’d rather deal with Liam than her mother–in–law.
So she texted Liam: [Mr. Reed, are you there?]
Two minutes later, Liam coldly replied with a single word: [No.]
Celeste ignored it and continued: [My dad gave me two boxes of white truffles. I’ll send them to your company tomorrow. Can you give them to your mom for me?]
Liam replied quickly, still just one word: [No.]
