Chapter 2158
"Shirley!"
With no time to react, everyone rushed over to her.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
In my mind's eye, I could already see the scene unfolding before me. A lifeless shell of a person, a disfigured body, lying dead on the ground covered in blood.
Fortunately, the first I saw was a large inflatable cushion. Like a newborn baby, Shirley's entire body was wrapped in it. From where we were, it was hard to tell whether she was hurt. But it was obvious that she had fainted from the impact of the fall.
I had finally calmed down and took a deep breath.
In the inpatient department, families were seen gathering together, whispering to each other about what had happened on the rooftop. They were either indifferent or gossiping about it, I took no offense to them.
The grievances of other people often weren't thought about or empathized over, regardless of whether you were involved with them or not. It usually ended up as table gossip.
As for me, I just considered them white noise, as I held my arms together and walked silently.
After everything that had happened, I deeply understood Shirley's feelings. The moment she'd shown that she had no hesitations in ending her own life, I was willing to break my own principles just to save her.
I had to think of a way to come to a compromise.
"Where were you?"
As soon as I heard Hendrix's familiar voice, I realized that I had been zoning out. I watched calmly as he draped his jacket over me, and I followed his movements with hollow eyes.
Clothes, coats... That's it!
"Hendrix." I suddenly grabbed his arm as my eyes lit up. "I want to agree to Irvin's terms!"
Hendrix's thick eyebrows furrowed together as he said coldly, "Say that again."
Knowing that he had misunderstood me, I laughed. I tiptoed and held embraced him with my arms around his neck. "I said, you're the chosen matchmaker!"
The moment he heard this, the haze around Hendrix's frown turned into a faint smile. "Are you sure it's a matchmaker and not the boyfriend of a cheater?"
As he said this, he pulled on my waist and pressed my entire body against his. We were stuck to each other and he was clearly enjoying
this.
Now that we had a solution to this tricky problem, I was more than happy to canoodle with him. I pursed my lips and deliberately kept him guessing. "Smart as you are, take a guess!"
"A fake marriage?" Hendrix said calmly.
"Well...half right, guess again!" I said with a chuckle.
Hendrix suddenly loosened his grip. He raised his hand and adjusted my hair then said patiently, "Whatever it is, you have to remember that you're with me, you are the wife of Elendrix Roberts. No one can change that."
Faced with such tenderness, all the childish excitement from earlier seemed to have suddenly disappeared.
"That won't change, not even for a second," I agreed obediently, as a way of showing my trust in him.
Hendrix slightly raised his eyebrows as he heard that. He then led me back and also told me what the doctors had to say.
In conclusion, what would happen in his remaining days was that Irvin would go through immense pain and extreme mental torture and then, slowly welcome the arrival of death.
This was undoubtedly a heavy blow to both him and us. If we had known of this pain earlier, wouldn't have death been his salvation?
Perhaps Shirley had understood this much earlier than us, that was why she would willing to throw her own life. Just so that Irvin could get what he wanted and leave this world with a smile on his face.
That was understandable, but unforgivable. Instead of going to her ward, I chose to inform her by text message. "The wedding will be held soon, on the condition that you must witness it with your own eyes."
There was no need for me to tell her who I was actually talking about, she knew the answer she wanted in her heart.
I had initially thought that when Irvin

started to eat again, his situation would improve. What I didn't expect however was for his condition to deteriorate so quickly after one whole day. His condition had turned critical, but he was rescued just in time by the medical staff, after he was stabilized he entered into a coma.
His newly lit beacon of hope had once again been extinguished. All I could do now was hope that by quickly preparing the wedding, we could use the cheerful energy to disperse all of the negativity from the disease.
