Chapter 2154
When we arrived at the hospital, a specialist was in the middle of giving Irvin a check up. Hendrix sat with me in the corridor just outside the ward.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
I thought that Shirley was already inside. However, when the check up was done, only thee doctor and a nurse stepped out from the ward. Hendrix had to go to the consultation room to collect the results from the check up. I headed in with the food.
Irvin must have woken up from the noise. With his head resting against the headboard, he was staring out his window with a blank face. He wasn't moving at all and looked like a statue.
"Good morning," I greeted quietly. I closed the door, stepped in, and started to open up the food containers.
I had prepared enough oatmeal for one person. It was still steaming hot, so I scooped up a spoonful and blew on it to cool it down. I then brought the container and the spoon close to his mouth.
As expected, Irvin turned his face away and silently resisted my attempt to feed him.
I laughed angrily and suppressed my temper. Then, I told him, "I made this myself. Are you sure
you won't give it a try?"
Irvin didn't even turn around and said, "Such tacky tactics. Did you think I would fall for that?"
"You don't have to be so wary of me." I felt discouraged and placed down the container of oatmeal. I then toughened up and said, "Whether you wish to eat this or not, it won't determine whether you live or die. Instead, I will lose all care and respect that I have for you. You're not afraid to die, fine. But can you live knowing that I will forever despise you from now on?"
I didn't want to resolve it like this. I never wanted to provoke him with such harsh words, but after several unsuccessful attempts, this seemed to be the best solution. So, if Irvin wasn't willing to cooperate with the easy way, I would have to deal with him the hard way.
Things turned tense for a few seconds, then finally, Irvin reacted and slightly turned his head.
I reached out again and this time he obediently opened his mouth and swallowed the oatmeal.
Once he swallowed it, he frowned.
"What's wrong?" I asked, "You don't like oatmeal?"
Irvin lifted his lips. His dry and chapped lips were wet from the oatmeal, causing them to stick together. It seemed like he was having a hard time speaking. "How much salt did you put in this?"
"Is it too salty for you? Wait a moment, I'll make you a new one."
I had prepared this oatmeal based on how we liked it at home. Patients would prefer eating something lighter. I may have neglected that part. However, it was rare for Irvin to eat willingly. That's why I didn't feel tired having to run back and forth
several times.
As I was about to put the oatmeal back in the container, Irvin called out to me and said, "Just add some water and it'll be fine. Why put me through the torment of having to wait for you? I don't have the patience for that."
I felt flustered for a moment then smiled. "That'll work too."
After saying that, I mixed some hot water into the oatmeal. Bite after bite, Irvin obediently finished all of it.
There were a couple of snacks in some of the containers. But, as I was about to reach in to grab them, he shook his head.
I cleaned up the containers and prepared to peel an apple. I then pulled out a chair and sat close to the edge of the bed.
Irvin kept looking at me. As I was halfway through peeling the apple, he finally couldn't hold it anymore and said, "Since you keep coming here, does that mean you've agreed to my conditions?"
I paused for a moment. Then as I continued to peel the apple, I replied faintly, "No."
He took a deep breath and laughed
at himself. "And you've come so early today too, even earlier than that fool of a lady. Tomorrow morning, if you come around this time again, do you think you'll be visiting a version of me who is still
breathing or a dead body? Content

I nearly cut myself from shock after hearing what he had said. I gritted my teeth and said angrily, "If that's the case, then I won't shed a single tear."
Having said that, I raised my head
and pushed my hand out to stuff the
peeled apple into his mouth. "A
coward that doesn't consider the
feelings of his friends and famet
and chooses to end his life just to prove a point isn't worthy of my tears."
With Irvin's quick reflexes, he immediately caught the apple the moment I let go of it. With a stiff face, I stood up and walked towards the door, panting from rage.
'Where are you going?" He obviously didn't want me to leave, but he had said those things to show that he refused to admit defeat. "Was this all too hard to handle? It seems like you don't actually want me to stay alive."
