Chapter 2143
Chapter 2143
I expected Hendrix to dote on his daughter without any boundaries. However, he suddenly pulled over and stopped the car.
Although the car was stable, it did sway a little. Aurelia's feet went weak, and she almost lost her footing. Luckily, I was quick to steady her.
Just as I was wondering when Hendrix had become such a bad driver, the man's muffled voice rang out from the car.
"Aurelia, don't you want to eat cake tonight?"
Whenever Hendrix got enraged, the atmosphere around him would be affected and the temperature would drop several degrees.
Despite her boldness, Aurelia voluntarily conceded, withdrawing her hand from our seat and murmuring, "I do..."
Through the rear-view mirror, Hendrix's stern eyes met the child's, and he said, "Was it appropriate to do that when I am driving? You were messing around in the back and came up to the front. You disturbed me and almost got hurt, didn't you?"
Aurelia shook her head foolishly and answered in a confused tone, "No."
"Don't be too fierce. You will frighten her..." I reminded him in a low voice.
"So, what should I do then?" Hendrix ignored me. Sure enough, he would never care about other people's feelings when it came to handling business.
It turned out that Aurelia was not a weak girl. After a moment, she obediently returned to her seat, tightened her seat belt, and stopped talking. It was then that Hendrix restarted the engine and stepped on the pedal again.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
The rest of the ride went smoothly.
I was expecting a temper tantrum when we got home. Much to my surprise, Aurelia held no grudges. She hurried to the house as soon as her feet reached the gravel.
When we arrived in the living room, the little one was already out of the kitchen, clutching a bunny cake that Hendrix had baked. The cake had a missing corner while her mouth had a smidgeon of cream dangling from the corner. Clearly, we knew who the culprit was.
Aurelia held the cake and headed for the kitchen table while tending to Neal and Wynn in the doorway. "Wynn, Neal, come over here! Daddy has made a super, super delicious cake!"
Wynn, who always had a sweet tooth, lifted his feet and walked over to the table.
Neal, too, obediently went over and sat down. He waited for the little princess to give him a "fair" share.
As this was Hendrix's first time making dessert, I went over wanting to try it too.
Aurelia, on the other hand, had sliced a third of the cake for Wynn and Neal and kept the rest for herself when I arrived at the table. She giggled, holding the entire base of the cake.
I sighed helplessly and reached out to pinch her on the nose. "Little one, if you eat the rest yourself, you'll wet the bed!"
"Bleh!" Aurelia cocked her nose with her hand. She imitated a piglet and said scornfully, "No, I won't!"
I pursed my lips and decided to tease her. Holding the cake up, I said, "Can I have a bite?"
I made the gesture of consuming the cake whole which meant that this would be the first and last time Aurelia saw this particular cake.
Though Aurelia didn't refuse, she pursed her lips, and her eyes were crimson.
How could I continue to tease her at this point? I hurriedly returned her the cake. "Okay, okay, I'm just kidding. I don't eat desserts. It's all yours!"
I gave Aurelia a relaxing rubdown on her fuzzy head, which calmed her down.
When Hendrix re realized I couldn't
even handle a child, he stood aside from the stairwell and said, "You are a mother now. What's the point of fighting with the kids over food? If
you want some, I'll prepare it just for you."

"Remember, you're the one who offered, alright? I didn't ask for it!" How could I possibly resist when I saw the children eating so happily? Food is, of course, one of the wonders of adulthood!
If I had known he was such a good baker, I would have taken a few bites of Hendrix's desserts before I left home!

As he stepped into the kitchen with his sleeves rolled up, Hendrix's lips curved up in adoration. "Yes, my wife didn't ask me for it. It is my pleasure. I'm willing to cook mountains delicious food for you and the kids. From now on, I'll just concentrate on being a family man!"
I couldn't help but laugh. However, I was afraid that Hendrix might get too carried away. Hence, I
deliberately refrained from teasing him. "That's fantastic! Wynn, Aurelia, did
хой hear that? From now on, Daddy will make us good food every day!"
"We heard you!"
"We heard you! Daddy's the best!"
That was how things were supposed to be -everything falling into place with the days growing heartier and heartier with each passing moment. Little did I know that two days later, when I saw Evan's anxious expression when he walked through the door, I realized I had taken things too lightly.
"What is it?" I wasn't in the best of moods. But it was not because I knew that what Evan was going to say was going to disrupt my mood; I was just frustrated about all the trouble that I couldn't be rid of.
There were always people who had problems with living in peace and harmony.
"Naomi went to meet Neal alone."
